What square footage does one of you 1800w coliseum's take up?

What are you working on a bigger room with more coliseum's in it?

it's all here in the thread somewhere... Right now the pod is 6x6, with an inner diameter of 4x4. Shortly I'll have a new location, and I'll be building 2 1800w coliseum rooms on a flip, 8x8, with an ID of 6x6. I messed up a little building this one. They'll be inside of a lung room, so it's 2 pods inside of a large room... Like half my basement.

I've been chatting with DHF quite a bit lately... and he's taught me that not everything is about having lots of light. It's about how you use that light, and manipulating the environment to make the plants grow as efficiently as possible. Makes more sense than JUST adding more light when you think about it... Lots of factors effect growth, not just light.

I figured it out... Rather than setting up a RDWC, which I've been reading more and more about and deciding I don't want to bother... I'm going to use my chiller to keep the heat exchanger water temperature at 70*F. One room will be running hot, and get cooled by 70*F running through a radiator, and then additional cool air coming in from the lung room. I'll be able to use the heat in the next room to keep things warm, and taking some if not all of the load off the chiller... In the summer when I only need a cooling function I can modify the water flow... It's gonna cost a little bit to build, but in the long run it'll be cheaper than running A/C's... I've proven it works. Right now my temps don't go above 75*F.

actually it might be easier to just use the exchangers to chill, and use space heaters to keep things warm at night... they have a built in thermostat, and it's only a few months out of the year that they would have to work...

ACTUALLY now that I'm thinking about it, temperature controllers work for cooling and heating, all they do is monitor that the temp stays within 5*F in either direction... So no need for space heaters...

was you misinformed about the factors of growing efficient and someone told you to JUST add more lights then?

lol no, it's a common misconception though for people to think that they need to run a 10k setup to get the numbers their looking for. That's no disrespect for your large grow...

The decision to run several smaller pods with perfectly controlled climates came after reading several of DHF's post, and experiencing many environmental issues in my grows... I've already steered myself in his direction, growing in coco, switching to smart pots, vertical lighting... It's just a matter of taking a leap of faith. It's easier to control the atmosphere of a smaller room, and keep it loaded full of the same plants... Keep everything dialed for a particular strain for maximum results. Throwing 10 different strains into a stadium and treating them all the same will get results no doubt, but what are we doing? Whether we're medical or commercial, or both, we are growing product for others. They really don't care if they can have 10 different flavors if you run out a month after harvest.... So I'm going to build production rooms that bang out 6lbs every 8-10 weeks, off 1800w of light. Temperature control set to 75, so that cooling starts at 80 and heating starts at 70. RH will be 70% the first 4 weeks, then cut to 50% the rest of the time. I have an atomizer to keep the stretching room humid, and a bigass dehuey that will more than handle my finishing room. Air exchange 2x a minute.

I'll still have a room to grow my personal stash and experiment... but I can't be playing games anymore with the business end of things. I'm a bit unorganized at times, but I'm a perfectionist in that I will do things over and over again until I get them right. I'm really hoping to nail it this time. I'll know more in a few months... Successful, or retired... I'm shooting for very successful.

Exactly Bro.......I bought foreclosures in low income districts near industrial areas for guaranteed increased ppm`s and immediately surrounded the properties with chainlink fence , a new burglar alarm that dialed my cell phone if breached , and 1 of my pit bulls for added insulation.......

Grew my ass off for a yr while remodeling and upgrading said properties , and at the end of the yr the grows were torn down and moved to the next 1.......

Made enough ta pay off the homes in said yr , and sold em or leased with the option ta buy.....

Simple.....Babyshit......DHF.......:ying:....

dude, that's smart as hell, did you do all the remodeling by yourself ? I can't imagine crews coming in to work in the kitchen with a forest in the basement !

By chainlink are we talking barbwire, spiked fence, or just like 6ft high normal fences ?

How many years did you do that for ? And you never had a problem proving income to buy the houses ? Just seems like a lot of money to hide ??

well done.

Been a carpenter , homebuilder , remodeler for over 30 yrs turbo , and yeah , I had my electricians at every setup I ever had for a sub-panel to the basement , BEFORE anything was done grow wise , but that was it as far as subs round my setups......

Regular 4' chainlink fence for the bulldawg in the yard......Nothin out of the ordinary so as to not stand out like a sore thumb......

Pitbull`s are regular pets in low income areas , and the neighbors all loved me cuz I was improvin the neighborhood......but.....

I did have 1 burglary in an empty house by dumbass tweakin crack geeksters........Burglar alarm called my cellphone , and when I got there they`d stole the stove and fridge upstairs and downstairs.....

Couldn`t fence in the driveway and basement garage doors where they got in...........

My sainted seedstock with my old mex skunk hybrid and other gifts were in the basement fridge , but they never found the grow area/flip rooms although they were empty from bein harvied a week before......

Did it for a minute and got out when a close Bro got popped couple yrs back......

Retired , shutdown , and bored as Hell.......Handle it Bobble......Make an old man proud......

Peace.....DHF...:ying:..

Thanks guys... Yeah DHF, those pics were after 6 days of growth! Like I've been saying though, my temps stay around 70 lights off, and normally don't go past 75 lights on. Humidity has been 55-60%. Another thing is the insulation the bins wrapped in reflectix provide. The root zone has been staying nice and cool. I'm 100% sold on this system, but like you were saying, with a 6x6 inner diameter... lol

So anyway, a few more pics... I can't remember EVER seeing root porn in the vert section. So here's some gro-pot root porn! :D Don't mind the spilled coco... it's not hurting anything.

Bro....Get all those dead spotted leaves away from those nugs.......That shit`s where all kinda pathogens form from........

Dyin leaves with any decent amount of humidity will mold and spores`ll float all over your plants ......You know the rest.....

Girls lookin proper though...Loved the porcupine root porn...

You have CHARLIE SHEEN grows skills ...rocking the Tiger Blood, Warlock Leet growing skills heheheh.

hey bobble, great thread and grow. Can't wait to see what you end up with in this setup as well as the 8x8 in the future. I've been following this with keen interest as i'm working furiously to design a similar setup.

Although its contrary to the 'standard' technique of AC/ sealed environment, you're using AC/heat exhange in a ventilated environment effectively. I had always assumed that with such air exchange, the cold air source would just get sucked out of the pod. However, it obviously is working for you to cool quite a bit of light in a small space.

Using this idea, i wonder if it would be possible to use a mini split AC to cool a tent and a small ventilation fan to maintain neg pressure and exhaust the tent for the purpose of fresh air only (not for cooling). This way, like you, i could use AC without the need for co2.

Also, you have mentioned that your next setup will be 8x8. if you had only 6x6 to work with, would you go with 3 x 400s or would u still use the 600s? Would cool tubes help squeeze more out of your space in your opinion?

You gotta keep those pots wet, and you'll see the roots popping out. I mean soaked too. I don't skip waterings... They get watered until the bin floods. When the water is dried up from the bin, they get watered again. I try not to make them sit in too much water though... just a little.

Yeah, dead plant matter decaying... You caught me with my pants down bro. :thank you: It's cleaned up. Those are the best roots I've ever had honestly... The insulation these bins/reflectix provide is top notch. Definitely applying it in the future...

Dude you had me laughing me ass off when I read that I have Charlie Sheen grow skills... ha ha... That guy is off his fucking rocker! I've been watching the interviews. Yeah, I'm on a drug, it's called CHARLIE SHEEN! lmao... what a wakadoo.... I did see some similarities in our own self involvement... lol

nice thread !! vertical looks fun forsure

ummm... Yes? Basically I've found that unless you have cold temps to start off, you need a way to cool down your room. If you do have cold temps, then you have to keep your room warm at night.

Lots of growers use a/c's in their NO CO2 grow... Pretty much have to to remove the heat. Skip the cool tubes. They block light, and have to be cleaned... take the money you just saved from not buying cool tubes, and buy bigger fans to move more air through your room.

Using a 6x6 space, 3-4 400's would be perfect in my opinion. The 600's are great, but too much to try and work around. If you're doing a tree grow, 600's. If you're using shelving and smaller plants, 400's. That's my take.

I have found the same thing, Bobble. Gotta keep those pots moist and the roots will come.

Looking good, bro.

You're really getting this pod system sorted.

Lots of really good info in this thread. :good:

Way cool bobble, dont know how I missed this for so long. I really like how you got that vert system set up. As soon as its dialed in you're gonna be pulling quite a bit out of that.
I cant wait to see how these babies turn out.
