Best way to store Canna-Butter

Hey guys,

I was wondering how you guys store your green butter XD

When i used to make it i would make it out of the leaves and trim. I would store the leaves and trim in my freezer and as i finished using a block of fresh canna butter i would defrost the snap frozen trim and leaves and make some more.

Problem was that the trim and leaves took up so much bloody room in my freezer!!

Is it possible to make the butter and freeze it? My thought are that frozen butter would last longer than if it were kept in the fridge?!?

Thanks for any replies :)

Compound butters (herbed butters, special butter, canna-butter) are generally quoted at a lifespan of 6-9 months in the freezer. The better you filter & less moisture & milk solids there are in it the longer it will last. Salted butters generally will store a bit longer than unsalted.

Milkfat really likes to pick up tastes so seal it well and keep your freezer odor-free for long term storage. Nothing like unsealing a block only to find it scented with stale eggrolls.

yes, its possible to make butter and freeze it! You can get small disposable ziploc jars with lids that are good for "canning" / freezing. We just tried them for the first time with no problem. Cheap, and can give away as gifts since they're disposable.

what he (geopolitical) said! I would keep your storage limitations closer to 6 months rather than 9 just to keep it on the fresh side of things. When I make butter, I keep out one jar for personal use and always freeze what is left over.

Six months storage sounds good to me. Considering its 3 months or so inbetween grows to refresh the supply :)

make bubble, QWISO, or BHO
stash away your bubs qwiso, and bho till needed.
Then use it to cook with as needed.
There are no worries of your shit going bad.
It's the best way.

I like butter flavored Crisco. Improves the shelf life of the fat stored alone and of the baked goods after you make them.

I also prefer the way shortening bakes.
