my room is 9ft x 11ft but only 4 ft tall. currently running 4 bulbs with as many plants under as i can fit. i am trying a modified stadium this time by using a 6 inch rasied shelf around the perimeter. does anyone have any other ideas that may help me out? my main concern is being more efficient with what i have but still using it to the max

thanks

You could train them to vine along the floor till they were 5-10 feet long then flip the switch.

Perhaps custom built 6"x10' flowerbeds that you could keep strapping them down on until your ready to harvest. This would ensure a nice rootbase all the way down the vine and be easy to autowater via blumats or something.

Stadium is good. SOG, scrog will work, too.

What kind of lights and wattage you using?

Air cooled reflectors, batwing, or bare bulb?

Height and size of pots?

1k lights x 4 with batwings, currently running about 25 plants per light. just thinking maybe to run vertically and let them veg longer, then flip when i think the stretch will make them hit close to the ceiling, run maybe half as many plants or less. im just kinda doing alot of thinking out loud and looking for some good info from seasoned vets

Scrog or SOG.. I would go with a scrog personally.. You can set the net to be the height you want the canopy to stop at.. I would do a 1k every 4x4 or a 6oo every 3x3..

i have 1 bulb per 4x4 area now. will the netting actually hold the plants down enough? ive dealt with having them burnt before and it sucked.

another thaught i was having is running lights vertical, approx 10-12 plants around each bulb, veg them big then flip. i just want to be able to pull the same or better weight numbers

you gotta weave the branches through your net during stretch.. the net will be the top of the canopy more or less, you just gotta makes sure you got enough room for your lights to hang without burning your tops..

The net is the bottom of the canopy. Veg growth is kept below, Colas above. I've had 20" colas with a 250. I wont even guess what a 1K would grow.

see I don't put the net up till I flip over to flower.. and then I bend through the net as it stretches.. usually ends up being a carpet of soda can size colas..

I'd go vertical sog. IMO, you don't have quite enough headroom for stadium unless you grow indica dominants. You'd have less plants than stadium so you might have to veg longer. Easiest maintenance IMO.

If you scrog, it'll be tough to train with the low ceiling. That said, stretch it's how you train and stretch is strain dependent. If you let a 6 month sat grow straight through the screen, you'll have lots of stretch. If you train it underneath the screen so that lateral growth becomes vertical, more tops = less overall stretch.

Indicas or indica dominant scrogs are tough to train as well. IME, close nodes grow even closer when trained beneath the screen. Stems are easier to snap than stretchy sativas.

That said, scrog would get you good use of space. You'll have to allow for space to maneuver between screens.

well im gonna end up with vertical sog or scrog. stadium just doesnt work with the limited height. I hope i pull the numbers still

do u veg till your at the max height or close to the max? does the net control the stretching?

With indicas, veg until screen is 1/2-2/3 filled and flip to 12/12 where preflower stretch fills the screen. With sativas, flip before you hit the screen.

The screen does not control stretch in controls it's direction. Maintain horizontal veg growth under the screen. Once colas start to form, these are allowed above the screen.

Waiting for veg growth to max before placement of the screen isn't a ScrOG, it's just a plant with a screen in the middle.

Main branches will stretch more above the screen than they will when forced to grow lateral, beneath.

This cross is considerably more stretchy above than below.

It's the other way around. Otherwise we wouldn't bother with LST/ScrOG.

Left alone, the main stem tells the rest of the plant to get behind it and stay down and the plant obeys. Chop off it's head, the next two take over and send the same growth restricting directions and, again, the plant obeys. However, if we bend the tip (ie lateral growth) the message becomes garbled. Growth restricting hormones stop getting sent out and all stems insist on being the big stem. Overall growth explodes.
