What's new

Beginner CFL growlog.. feedback appreciated!

I've tried since last night to upload pics, but IC isn't letting me. Getting those same error messages from a couple weeks ago.

I won't be around to post again until later this weekend, probably Sunday night. Not a lot has changed, except the buds are slowly packing on a lil more weight and getting more frosty. Looking good!

Hope everyone has a great holiday and I will be back with pictures soon!

Day 42!

Day 42!

Alright, I'm back from a week long hiatus and ready to post some pics of my lady!

She's doing alright at Day 42, think she still has a slight mg deficiency. I've been checking the trichs with my camera, which does a pretty good job, although I think I may head out to Radio Shack tomorrow to pick up a good magnifier. They're mostly cloudy, a few clear on the less developed buds; I've seen only a couple amber. I know she still has a few weeks to go, but it's still cool to see those things up close!

Since some of the buds/colas are a lot more developed than others, is there any way to harvest some of them when it's time, and leave some behind to catch up? I didn't know if that would cause a lot of stress or not.. ? You'll see in the pics that a couple buds are starting to frost up just a little bit, but yet 3-4 are packing on the crystals.

I will definitely be trimming that lower growth next grow.. only a few small popcorn buds (albeit, nice looking) and I know it's taking away from the main colas up top. Could that be why some of those buds are lagging behind?

Any input is appreciated... less talk, more pics. Let me know what you think!

Well, I shouldn't have.. but I did. And I'm normally a very patient person.. anyways.. After a very stressful night at work, and having been without (smokable!) bud for a month.. I sampled one of the lower popcorn buds that was covered in quite a bit of crystals.. it looked yummy! It was tiny, not really bigger than the ones pictured above.

And I'm very impressed!! Quite happy that I did! It's awesome! :headbange

VERY sativa.. heart rate is def. up, nice head rush, tingly in the arms.. woke me up! Almost no 'stoned/couchlook' feel to it. I feel like I can go wash those dishes I've been putting off for a couple days... lol. Probably due to the early cut, all trichomes were cloudy, almost zero amber.

Ok, this probably a stupid question.. I'm not sure if it makes sense..

Since this is bagseed, I'm not sure of the % of sativa/indica in the plant, although I think she leans more sativa because of the leaves. Even after letting half of the trichomes turn amber, how much more of a 'body' stone will I get? Will the 'heady' feel still be more prevalent after harvest/cure, but with a more body feel than what I feel now?

I'd like a slight more indica feel (I like a nice mix of the 2), although it's nice to smoke some good sativa bud. Around here it's mostly indica or a mix of the two, very rare to get something (commercially) that's as 'heady' as what I just smoked. :rasta:

Ok, I need to stop typing and go wash those dishes.. bwahahaa!

hi seaside I been reading keeping up with this thread for awhile now. I don't think it matters that much specially since its been awhile but keep up the good work.

Hey seaside.

She looks great don't worry about the sample, wait a week and take another one. I think you'll be surprised in the difference. She'll get more of a body stone as she matures.

You are always going to have a few buds that are a little behind the rest of the buds. You can leave them to mature if you want to.It wont hurt a thing. I don't do it because I always have a plant ready to take its place. Since this is your only plant, go for it.

Don't worry about deficiencies from here on out. As a matter of fact you should stop feeding her all together. The more deficient she is at harvest the smoother the smoke will be. Just be sure to keep her roots moist. You don't want her drying out at this point or your yield will suffer. She'll pack on alot more weight in the last 2 weeks.

You have done a fantastic job. Please keep us posted. I love the pictures.

Thanks AH for stopping in!

Floro, you have been an amazing help through this whole grow, you don't know how much I have appreciated it! I've ordered new beans and once they arrive, I'll be starting grow #2!

I was going to ask about feeding.. I wasn't sure when to stop and continue to only water plain. I guess If I'm planning to harvest at ~60 days give or take a few, and I've read to water only the last couple weeks, now would be the time to stop. Do I still include some molasses, or stop everything?

Some of her fan leaves are starting to turn a little yellow, so I guess I'm right on schedule?

I guess I was so paranoid that those buds lagging behind would never catch up, but I'm happy for the reassurance! They are slowly packing on weight.

I've read some people leave their plants in the dark for 24-36 hrs before the chop.. does this have some positives to it, or does it really even matter?

Ok, one last thing before I go. What do you think about revegging? It's just something I've ran across, sounds interesting, think I might give it a shot for the hell of it.

I'll have new pics in a couple days!!

Just a few bud pics for the weekend! :rasta:

She's really been spitting out the pistils in the last 2 days.. Maybe she's getting ready to hit the last couple week growth spurt? I hope so!

Got lots of undergrowth that is just now really starting to shoot out pistils and form mini buds. lol. I wish I would have cut off that lower crap so all that growth could be on my top buds! It's too late now.. Oh well, I'll know next time! :bashhead:

I'd say the trichomes are about 97% cloudy, 3% amber. So she's still got a lil ways to go.

I may just chop the top buds when they're ready and leave that lower growth to see if it does anything.

The smaller buds are starting to catch up!

She's beautiful.

You can keep using the molasses If you want to. It can't hurt. I usually leave my plants in the dark for 24 hrs before harvest. I don't think it makes much difference but it's more convenient for me. I know you don't want to harvest right after the light cycle because the light will degrade the thc in the plant and it is replaced during the dark cycle.

Revegging works But it takes about the same amount of time To just grow from clone or seed, so I don't reveg anymore. Since you didn't take a clone from her Go ahead and reveg her.

What kind of seeds did ya get? Are you going to start a new grow log? If you do, I'll be there to cheer you on.

Hi Floro!

I watered tonight with molasses, and prolly will one more time before I cut off all nutes and water plain.

The seeds I got were some of the cheapest I could find on Seed Boutique.. there are a lot of strains I'm really wanting to grow, but I figured I'll wait and spend my money on real expensive seeds when I get more experience!

Anyways, I ordered Aurora Indica and Top 44.

I've read T44 is an easy to grow and resilient plant for n00bs, stays short and is a pretty good smoke, but not the best. And I've been wanting to grow a strong indica, so AI is a good choice I suppose. Hopefully I'll have luck with these strains!

And yes, I'll have a grow log for the next one as well!

I'll have some new pics up in a couple days, until then I gotta read up on drying/curing and all that fun stuff! Also thinking about getting a 150hps for the next grow to try it out. Haha.. lots of stuff I want to do!

So... we're on Day 57. :rasta: I figure she can go another 1-2 weeks. The trichomes are about 80/20, cloudy. The fan leaves are slowly yellowing and dying off. The last time I fed her was about 1 1/2 weeks ago because I figured the last 3 weeks she would just get straight water.

However, she's starting to turn a lil purple and I don't know if that's a deficiency (and if that's ok?) or if it's a characteristic of the type of strain? I don't think she should be fed anymore.

The temps have been getting down to 65-66 at night, and getting to about 78 during the day.. humidity around 50 night/35 day.

She's still spitting out new hairs everyday, then they turn a real pretty orange. She doesn't have a strong smell; I've gotten away with not using a carbon scrubber. But when ya get up close, she stinks.. I can't describe the scent. lol :canabis:

I've added some darkroom louvers for my passive intake and it really helped w/ the ventilation and solving the problem of light leaks!! I didn't have really any leaks before, but the louvers make it clean looking without a bulky light trap. A great buy, wish I would have ordered them at the start!

Pan, that plant looks awesome. I've been keeping up with your thread and have been taking ideas from your cab for my next grow. Your setup is nice and clean, I like it. If you see this again, got a question for ya.. is that a lexan sheild? I thought I saw where you mentioned that's what it was, but I don't remember. I'll check back through your threads and look. Does it bend because of the heat?

Alright, well on to the bud porn. Can't wait to smoke this lady! :joint:

Very nice grow, Seaside.

You're very close to the end. I would keep watering with 1 tsp/gal of molasses until you want to flush with plain water.

The plant near the end doesn't use the nutes it picks up and they just build up in the plant. The molasses will help clear the nutes from the soil as well so the plant gets fed a bit.

That's great that you're seeing purple. It's from both your low night temps and just the fall colours of the plant as the chlorophyll breaks down in the leaves.

Be patient when flushing and let the fan leaves lose thier colour before chopping. That will clear nute buildup from the plant.
