I have a small indoor space that i want to grow autoflowering strains in i would say about 3'x6'. i am wondering what i need to get, i mean lights(what kind do you all recommend), and which auto flower has the biggest yield? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't call that a small space for AF's, but I'd go with Sour 60, its one of the bigger AF's with great quality bud and is easily acquired from seedboo for ~$70USD.

As for lighting, a 1000w HID would provide you with over 50w/sqft. which is ideal, though you could get away with a 600w with supplemental floro's. I'd use a 600w HPS with ~200w's worth of floro's, preferably 6500k T5's or PL-l's.

I would suggest sgs alot cheaper still quaility genetics check mitch conner's grows out.

SGS is great but he tends to breed for smaller plants with less branching for SOG grows, he does have a big strain called OGRE which defiantly competes with Sour 60 in all areas. The only downside is they are not available on seedboo so you'll need to go through the slightly more involved process of acquiring them through seedbay, though if done properly (using track-able mail) you'll get an extra pack of freebies. Both are great options but if you want them there quicker get Sour 60 through seedboo with a credit card, this is a much faster option then sending a M.O. through the mail if using SeedBay.

Why would you voluntarily limit yourself to auto's?

Why not choose a strain that would allow you to keep a mother so you could continue to enjoy that killer bud for years to come?

No, no thanks, i'd rather stick with cannabis genetics that remain photo-periodic and therefore put me, the grower, in control rather than buy beans that, once harvested, require that I buy more beans, putting the seedmakers in the drivers seat.

As far as I can see the only use for auto's is if you grow outdoors up north and only have a short growing season, not indoors that's for sure!

Anyway, thats just MY opinion, you're free to do as you choose. ...imagine if you will though that you're packing your bong with the last nug of the best weed you've ever had but sadly it came from an auto so if you want that flavor again your only choice is to buy more beans. ...not me man.

Peace, SOG

You could do with being a little more specific in your question...

Also how long you want a cycle - seed to harvest to take...

What sort of yield you'd realistically like..

How many plants you want in there.. ETC

Then people will be able to offer you better advice

Yes i can see what you mean.
To be honest and i am looking for a seed with a grow time of 60 days or less, and i am looking for the biggest possible yield i can get with an autoflower. As far as how many plants, what would you all recommend that would be a logical number in my space area.

Right now there are no AF's that can be harvested in under 60 days with good results/yields. Most higher yielding AF's go 70 days or more. You have an 18sqft. grow space so you could fit at least 18, AF's are perfect for SOG.

I tend to ignore post like these though this is a commonly used argument which is completely invalid that arises from the notion that the consumer is incapable of producing their own seeds. Of course there will be genetic variance though since the strength of AF's come from their numbers this factor is negligible. There is also the option of making feminized S1's (selfed seeds) which will decrease the amount of variance while ensuring a 100% female crop. Buying more seeds is an unnecessary practice unless you are trying to increase the diversity of your gene pool, which is not a bad idea though it is far from necessary. The first course of action for anyone who acquires seeds regardless of photo-sensitivity is to complete a seed run to ensure genetic diversity and a large supply of seeds.

Ok, i thought there might have been some under 60 days(thanks for clearing that up) i have never fooled with autoflowers, just something that i wanted to try out(and i thought it would be a good plant to use so that i wouldnt attract a whole lot of unwanted attention).

Also on the lighting question, has anyone tried leds i have read good and bad about them, i was wondering how they would do for auto flowers and what type would be ideal for them. i know i ask alot of questions, but i just want to thoroughly research everything and get different points and views from people with experience in the topics i have asked about.
thank you all for the input

Check out Skotty's grows, he had a sour 60 in 5 gal DWC that yielded almost 6 oz in ~70 days using one 345w LED panel. He has some other AF grows with the same light and currently has two mazars in DWC. AF's respond quite well to LED's from what I've seen though they are out of most growers budget. Personally I prefer a 600w HPS and/or PL-l's as they are among the most efficient and cost effective lighting systems available.

Lol, what about the argument that if you find a real 'keeper', ...you can't, ...keep her that is? All you can do is make beans and hope for the best.

And btw, I make my own f2's and crosses and femmed beans too so ignore away bro, just keep making seeds and hoping for the best while I continue to flower nothing but clones from my mothers, some of which i've had for YEARS, and all of which are keepers selected for thier flavor, aroma and buzz.

Peace, and stay safe, SOG

If you want to do a decent AF SOG I would think about having 10 rows of 5 plants. Finishing in 7" square pots. You would have to start 100 beans though.

^^ The above is just a quick rough calculation so trial it or work it out properly first.

With the right strain you could harvest 60 days from sprout and they would be commercially ready, but to be really done - 50% milky/50% amber trichs the window would be more like 65-70 days from sprout.

2 x 400w HPS in that space, I think you would get a nice yield. 2x600 if you can cool the space properly you could see a very nice yield..

Depends how much work/time you want to put in, and how healthy you could keep them to see the best results.

3'x6' is only two dimensions, man. HOW HIGH?!?!

If you had two meters, and wanted to grow autos, you would easily get way better yields than "regular" photoperiod plnts, hands down, especially concerning economy and work.

One level of all fluorescents - seedlings through sexing, and a top level of fluorescent with or without combined LED supplement, or smaller watt HID would be cranking you out bud hand over fist after (sorry) seven weeks.

I could see even trusty Masterlows (not to mention sour 60) giving you at least 12 (even 14 or 15) 15g to 20g plants every week if you kept up with simply planting seed and sexing, along with picking a favorite female to pollinate every week. Too much to smoke (and I smoke a lot) every week, for sure. you could be stacking seedlings on plantlets on the bottom to increase overall yield/success.

I wish I had a space so big... I would have it filled with masterlowx(g13/hashplant). Then again, I wish I had the ventilation and odor control...

I did the photoperiod plant thing for 20 years. Believe me, autos are a blessing, in terms of yield and making your own seed stock.

thanks for the input
`the grow space is i would guess around 8ft from floor to ceiling
also, what autoflower has the least odor(for sercurity)?
