YEs it is a good idea but I wouldn't use PVC. Use the grey electric conduit, it will stand up better in the summer sun than PVC.

18x40 is good average size.
Good luck and get help with the poly.

I agree that conduit is a better material. Easy to make a jig that will bend it to your requirements.

How will this hold up to higher winds? I will have a 8' fence up with privacy slats(those little green things) so that should mitigate most of it but it gets gusty out here

Thanks so much for posting this link! I have been wanting to find a good source just like this for making something this coming spring. I want to make a baby one to light dep. Please keep us updated on what you find regarding the conduit and your progress as well.

I live in the NorthEast and followed this guys plans.
It's been through 2014/15's winter snow load and winds. Plastic is going on 2nd winter now and is holding up great.

I added large barn doors to one of the faces and a small door in the back. Along with roll up 4' curtains with screens this has been the best 350.00 ever spent.
