Any tips on hanging a carbon filter vertically?

I just got a phresh filter, it's got a 4" flange already attached to it, and the sides are completely smooth aluminium. I have to hang the filter vertically with the flange facing up, thus gravity is not on my side. Every time I try to tighten this thing down it wants to slip out of the hose clamp. Horizontal mounting is impossible due to the dimensions of the enclosure it has to fit in.

Any suggestions for effectively hanging this thing vertically?

put a flat board under the closed end with eye hooks in the corners that are rope and chained to the ceiling. chains must be the same length or the board will not be level.(note four chains to the ceiling, one in each corner)

You can get one 4.25" radiator-hose type clamp at the hardware for $5 or less. If the tolerance of the filter flange is too big to securely hang upside down, a lap or two of duct tape around the fan flange will tighten things up for the clamp to do it's thing.

can it sit on a milk crate in the room?, or just on the ground?,build a shelf
or use threaded rod and a plate-form of plywood drill holes in each corner , mount with ceiling plates to joists/ceiling , kind of over kill, but If u want to hang vertical....

i have a closet in my room that was once a 150watt flowering cab now its just storage....i ghetto rigged my filter on top of it...its bolted down with large screws and hexnuts, then for added support added two bungee cords attached to a 2x4 fixed to the ceiling....will it survive an earthquake? probably not lol. and that hole is not sealed because its not the main exhaust room its just a wall i had to punch through....also for vertical support my friends just rest their filters vertically like in a closet or something....
