The only other way I could think of that would force a change was what happened in France between 1789-1799.....or in the USA between 1760−1791.

after 8 yrs of Obama some would say a change was forced by a coalition of voters. the 2 are such opposites on many issues and Obama's legacy has been greatly dismantled.

Just watched the first of 4 in the The Century of the Self” doco series. In large part it's the story of how Edward Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud, turned America's need based economy into a consumerist one through social conditioning, and how freakishly easy it was to do and how easy it is to manipulate us. Example, back in the day there was a taboo against women smoking, and the tobacco industry wanted to tap this market, so enlisted the help of Bernays. He orchestrated a few stunts like a group of woman lighting up at a street festival and paid a few famous women to smoke with the newspapers on hand to take pics. But his master stroke was creating a 3 word slogan, calling cigarettes “Torches of Freedom”, torches being a reference to the Statue of Liberty. So he effectively used the Americans love, obsession, with patriotism and freedom, and turned it against them to enslave the women of America in a dirty habit that would kill millions. The guy was an evil genius. A 3 word slogan was virtually all it took. Hitler and the Nazi Party went on to use his techniques on the German people with terrifying results. Actually I am quite impressed that we can all have an informal and spirited but generally civil discussion of opposing views.......without necessarily having to be rude to one another. There is little rudeness in this current and quite passionate debate, ....and no-one seems to have gone full-retard........just yet.

It is important I think to discuss such topics because without communicating our own views and digesting those of others we might fail to learn how others truly feel, and also fail to question our own beliefs since there still is so much to learn from one another, and how each of us perceive what is going down now, or what has transpired in the past.

I know that I have learned much from this thread so far. It has sparked my interest and got me to researching various facts about the America that I thought I knew so well and got me questioning some of my beliefs even, so it can't be that bad at all...it does have merit.

To do whats necessary to fix the problem, to go from thought to action is another matter that would involve the ability and resources that most probably few, if any of us have.......but who knows?, 'it can all start from a seed'....

I wouldn't say Trump didn't want to win, that mother fucker wanted to win. He's already hired someone to run his 2020 campaign but I do agree he's a Democrat. Democrats have never been any better than Republicans more anti gun is about the only real difference.

Sure people claim Republicans are racist but Obama deported more people than any president before him. Sure Abraham Lincoln was a racist bastard and a Republican he did however end slavery but it was not his real goal in the Civil War.
