TLB: Any issues with salt buildup running hydro moms? Whats your feeding schedule?

My thought on Bonsai'ing was to runa hand-watered bucket using perlite thats available at the local HD...The idea for the perlite was its neutral pH, awesome wicking ability, and the fact that the rootmass could easily be manacured, similar to soil (which I refuse to use)

Hmm Have to check back once I do some trial runs

I have one mom that is always in flower mode and similiar to taking cuttings 2 weeks into flower from a plant they root fastest. I think its the P. If i take a cutting before flowering 10-12 days to root. If i take 2-31 weeks into flowering 7 days MAX. Its pretty crazy how it works

Future Mum, squat.... I did not bury the stem at all. I cannot wait for her to get older. The cool thing about mary is how thick her trunk can get in such a relativley short period....there are some killer mums on here!!!

Uncle Remus: hey homie I don't use any particular feeding schedule except for the nuts bottle instruction. I use Dutch Formula 1-2 and some enzy. I use a little bit less than DF feed schedule 'cos anyway in hydro it grow sooo fast :abduct:
I use as you can see a drip system with a 1minute pump 4 times a day. Seems she really like it. She grow under 2 x 18W Sylvania Grolux.

I have never tried growing a mum into perlite but sounds cool, update me if you'll run it! :joint:

I 'll post some rootporn of my baby :kos:

Hi...
In case nobody mentioned...revegged plants make excellent small bonsai-style clone mommas. I just cut 10 clones off this little sweetie last week.

I posted this question in my other thread which I accept I needn't have done! So here it is again:
At the moment I'm growing out some purple widow. Unfortunately this strain came under scrutiny in my
what's you worst strain thread, lol. Doesn't matter. I have a few on the go, my aim is to find a mother
and bonzai her so I can take cuttings. I have them under 18/6 hour light cycle which is hopefully long
enough to keep them in veg for a few years.

My only problem is should I force flowering on the original plants to see which are male or female or
should I take a clone from each plant and force flowering on that to see which of the original plants is
male or female, which I'm sure would be less stressful on the original plants.

I've seen some strains re-vegged that really can't handle it and get totally mutated.

Why not take clones from each plant, then flower the originals? Then you can cull whatever clones/plants are undesirable, and still have some smoke

If your in no hurry or don't need any meds than the way you described will work...You'll just be adding weeks before you can harvest...Any clones taken will have to be rooted (a few weeks), vegged somewhat (another few weeks), then flowered for at least 2 weeks more before sex is known

Personally I'd go with the first

I agree with Uncle, i suggest u to keep some clones and flower plants from seeds. Keep a good sized bonsai hanfiking, is easier if you start from clones 'cos they have closer nodes.

And as I promised some root porn!

hello you can make bonsai moms from seeds if you have feminized seeds. TLM, I never thought that were posible to make an hidro bonsai mom because in hidroponic grow you use a lot of nutrients and the plant grow fast an vigorous whit big leaves, i think you reduce nutrient concentration for mantein a slower grow and small leaves. Congratulations good work!!!

Yeah the hydro thing is pretty cool man!
You guys are right, I will take some clones to bonzai out. Makes sense! I will wait until the
plants are a little bigger, probably veg them for 3 more weeks. This grow was pretty lucky
as all the plants turned out to be female, so i can just pop some seeds and hope for
males if I want to create some seeds ;)
I think I might start an Oldtimer Purple Haze Bonzai hehe, that may well get out of hand but
why not

I kinda love this thread...

being that I have 1kw and soon 1.4kw for flowering and I'm vegging/cloning under CFLs...this will be useful. I've LST'd under CFL before and found the number of clones amazingly high, but that required a bigger pot. If I can keep them in tiny pots and keep them under 1' x1' per plant....this helps me, big time!

I'd wait til it's back in veg, otherwise there's little or no growth and it'd just be a small non-growing plant for awhile.
