If the whole reason you set up a account was to chat with me is quite a honor...thank you very much Sir! I can assure you there are many more on here MUCH more qualified to talk to than me but I do know a couple things...haha.
You do a lot of the same things I do and the no work thing is a cool coincidence...no working(for someone)kicks ass!!
Once the seed has a tail just hold it so the tail is downward into the netpot and CAREFULLY back fill with hydroton. This will orient it correctly and if done gently will not hurt the tender roots.
My cloner is super basic, 5 gallon bucket, pvc pipe, pump and some spray nozzles. Super basic but it is all you need. I run the pump 24/7 and keep the room under 71 that it is in so the water temps stay cool...72 ish. The spraying nozzles will keep the hydroton wet and no top watering will be needed at all. Go diy on the cloner you can do it easily. It will work for your clones and your seeds starting.
Ocean Grown...yes good company and honest...that is the best thing about them...also no 300.00 seed packs like some fools offer. The seed game is mostly a big assed joke to me. Mostly people getting finessed into thinking all these new fangled strains are the best yet. All these names make me laugh to....Red Velvet Runt Cheeta Piss Blow Pop Pink Rozay Banana Butter Cup this and that....hahaha. it is all marketing and companies getting rich off someone willing to drop that kind of money on pot seeds..... its fine if they want to do that...it just humors me.
Good luck...I am here if you need any more.
A little root porn to end the day....

I did just sign up yesterday haha, but after looking around a bit your right this place seems like its filled with good growers and advice. For whatever reason my searches haven't led me to this forum much but I'm gona stick around for a while and take in the scenery.
That last run of GG you had looked really impressive, I would like to get that quality some day. No wonder you grow it so often.
Ok so your aerocloner idea is great I'm going to try to replicate that. I have a small coco grow that I just started to flower but I want to ge back to DWC and more specifically RDWC because I have only used single buckets for each plant in the past. What GPH pump do I need? Looking around I see 200GPH being used in some of the complete kits. Also how do you move from aerocloner net pot to bigger pot in F & D tray? Drop the small net pot into bigger net pot? Then in the F & D tray what do you use to cover it? In the pics looks like maybe panda film that is taped up? If I'm asking too many questions just let me know. I'll buzz off.
You had me cracking up with that "Red Velvet Runt Cheeta Piss Blow Pop Pink Rozay Banana Butter Cup" stuff. I been watching Titan SQ1 on YouTube and his Banana Butter Cups crosses, haha I looked up his next drop is gona be a box set and it's like 750 bucks I think. Way too much for this ol guy. But man in those videos it sure looks frosty! I dont know enough about strains yet to really be a good judge myself and I don't wanna hate on anyone. I do catch myself really catch wanting to try some tho. But I like your sig, bring back the skunk sours and gas, hell yeah I wanna find that really stink dank I used to get back in the 90s.
I'm off to walk to the dog this morning. Oh hey what kinda hound you got? I always think of like a coon hound when I hear that but maybe you just call dogs hounds where your at. I got a Cane Corso he about 8 months old. Keeps me company now I'm home all day.

Crosses of the Banana buttercups do look quite nice...Mr Canucks grow on the tube really highlights it. He has a nice cross of wedding cake and the BBC and a good one of Frozen fuel with the BBC. Some people breed good genetics....for most its just a dick measuring contest and hype train. I smoked weed(nl5) from the 80,s that was a good as anything today...it might not have had the 5 star bag appeal you see today. Some of that comes from legalization and the nice way that is to grow. Don't have to hide everything and the buds you see are not 4th hand smashed up in a little baggie. It had the effect though.

OK, on to specs for a system...pump size. I run a 396 gph pump in a 32 gallon system...4 modules and 1 epicenter. 8 gallon units. You are looking for at least 6 circulations per hour. Do not go crazy here. I see people doing 1000 gph pumps and have issues with roots tearing off and such...there is no need. Do keep a AIR pump spare on hand at all times. I keep a spare of both the air and water pump. If you lose a water pump..its ok you are still in DWC but if you lose a air pump your toast quickly.

Moving from cloner to F&D. You will have a nice 10" seedling or so with nice long at least 10" roots. Take it out of the cloner. Carefully remove/cut away the 1.5" net pot. You want a bare root cutting with no media...just let the hydroton fall away as you cut the pot. Now take you net pot you plan to flower in and back fill with hydroton. You are going to do this onto and around the roots so start off easy...again we do not want to harm them. Once filled to proper level set in F&D tray and you are off to the races. I have left the 1.5 net pot on before and just went into a bigger one. The plant was OK overall but I think it struggled a bit having to pump all that food through such constricted spaces.

I do use Panda to keep light out of my tray...spot on...cheap and you can cut/reuse it. I go white side up and it keeps that root area dark as heck...no algae problems. I you are going to build a system...which you should...do not try to reinvent the wheel. All of this has been figured out by smarter people than me..I just copied it. Just use the proven CC design and you will be thrilled.

On the dogs...well I used to have 2 hounds so I just call my dogs that now. I used to have a Wiem and a Vizsla at the same time and man would they run up a storm. My to current dogs are a Black Lab mixed with a Catahoula and I have a "Doodleman Pincher"...haha...he is a Dobermann x Poodle and is awesome and big. Cane Corso will be a big one for sure!!

Have a great hike I will probably get out sometime with mine as well...they like it daily.
Dont mind questions at all...like to pass on the things I have learned. I find RDWC to be the BEST way for me ever...growth rate and control cannot be achieved like this in other media.
Have a great day all. Peace, negative.

Doberman x Poodle! Yeah that sounds cool. My Corso is getting big, he is 8 months and 90 pounds so he will definitely end up over 100 maybe 120. He's a nice guy tho, his best friend is a little chihuahua down the street.

So the above pump and setup you listed is the undercurrent system you run right? Got it. What about the aerocloner for the seedlings how big a pump and what type of manifold? Do you have a pic of the inside or did you make a thread? I see on Amazon they have a pump and manifold combo that I can buy that may be easier but I'd to like to try making it if I can. I'm really not sure what size pump or sprayers to use. The Amazon one uses 200gph I believe. I have a black 5 gallon bucket and same lid as I see is some of your photos. I got 3 inch net cups on hand. I have decent 4 outlet air pumps and 4x2 air stones. I'm kinda stuck on what I need to build the sprayer but I have the rest ready to go.

So just cut the net cup away and let hydroton fall out. Yes! Easy and simple I like it. See I would get up on small things like this so it's really helpful to hear your methods.

Appreciate all the help. Have a good night.

Big dogs can be super nice...
The cloner pump is small...around 100 lph. Just need something with enough pressure to spray out the nozzles with a bit of force. The nozzles are irrigation pieces, spray in a 360 pattern...you can get them in a variety of gpm and spray patterns. They just go right into the pvc pipe with a small tapped thread you can put in your pipe.
The manifold setup is simple. 4, 90 elbows and 3 tees connected by correct lengths of pipe for your container.
Her is a shot that may make it a bit clearer...just a square inside the bucket. The t in the center drops down to the pump. I think I have 6 spray nozzles in there. Set it down in the bucket a bit...you want a bit of room between the pipe and your cuttings. I use 1.5 inch net pots...that lets me get 7 clone sites in a lid...plenty for me.

The picture helps a ton! I'm a visual guy and sometimes I gotta see or get hands on to get it into my brain. I took a trip to the hardware store and picked up some 1/2 inch pvc elbows and pieces, got my pump on order. I'm gona do the 2 inch net pots and neoprene collars and cut the bottom out. Great idea. Ok I feel good about this diy aerocloner, now I'm getting somewhere! Ok so I've seen your nute mix for the clones somewhere in this thread or somewhere else, cant remember right now but I screenshot it to use later. But if I'm starting seedlings, what strength nute mix should use? I'm thinking my normal veg mix just dilute down to maybe 200ppm or .5 EC or so?

Another topic I wanted to ask about is temp/humidity, especially for seedlings. I'm in a garage and right now approaching winter it gets cold at night and I use a heater to keep temps up but then it really dries out my air. So then I'm fighting low humidity in the 30 or 40s and it always looks like my seedlings dont like that. Looking through your thread I dont see you mention humidity too much. What do aim for throughout the growth cycle?

Oh and yeah I did see those $750 box sets. I set my alarm for the drop just curious to see if any cheaper packs would be available and yeah by later that night or so all gone. I bet a few boxes might pop up on seed auction site and got over $1k, crazy. Oh seen you mention Medicropper on YouTube, that guy is a boss. I used to eat lunch at work and watch his videos. Hey have good day Negative.

Here the nute mix I use. I use it for starting clones or seeds.
My exact recipe:
Clonex solution 10mls/gallon
Hormex 3-4 mls/ gallon
Clear Rez 6 mls/ gallon
Change on day 7 or 8 to
Clonex 15 ml/ gallon
Clear Rez 6 ml/ gallon
Drop the hormex
I use ro water. My ph comes out at 5.9. Water Temps between 72-75.
I will probably adjust this to use Jacks instead of clonex as I just ran out. I try not to let the air temp get below 65 in the room I veg and clone in. I use a small heater if I need to.
I have ultra low humidity in my area...desert. I keep it up in flower but I never worry about humidity in veg or for seedling or clones. My humidity is around 20% at any time in my house.
As soon as I have decent growth from seed or clone I up the nutes to full strength Jacks 3-2-1. 1.4 ec or so. It is really a myth that younger plants need less nutrients. I run the same strength nutes as I use in mid bloom and they love it...no burning.
Nice to see you getting you DIY on...it 's so satisfying to make stuff yourself.
Have a great day all. Peace, negative.

Hey Negative how is that Dough G vegging coming along? When is flower going to start? I really like the Vader and his YouTube videos. He has a calming voice and good video editing. Not to mention great looking plants. Before I quit work I was watching all his episodes during my lunch hour. Finally I got a hold of some of his seeds and popped a few Malibu Pie and Shockwave F2. Well long story short I managed to kill off all except 1 MP and 1 Shockwave and limped them to the finish line. Still they ended up being the best smoke I have grown for myself. I dont see a lot people growing them on the forums so I'm definitely interested to see how yours turn out and your opinion on them.
I have screenshot that clone formula and will be using that in the future. So I had a question about lighting. I see you dont mess with the height of the lights much and keep them sorta high but hard to tell actual distance from photos. I also remember reading something back in your journal about "greenjeans" saying to leave the lights high and such but I dont know who greenjeans is. I run sf 4000, 2000, 1000 and they are strong and bright. I can tell when they are too close cause the plants droop and look like they want to hide their leaves. So I raise it up but then I'm not sure how high is too high and I dont want to miss out on growing big budding the light is too high. To be precise I feel like in veg I know where to put the light but then in flower I'm not sure if it's too high or too low. How do you figure that out? I know PAR meter is best but too costly for me now.

Hi there. The Dough G is moving along pretty good. I have 3 of them in my F&D system sizing up for the next run. I did lose 2 of them. I still make mistakes so many years into growing. 1 just died in the seedling stage, no idea why. The other was my fault a bit. I transplanted it into the F&D. I thought the roots were plenty good for the water level. Came back in the AM and it was totally dried out dead. Just was not getting high enough water levels. I had not put in my normal riser so the level was a bit to low for it. Oh well down to 3. I have several more (seeds) so no worries. No idea if these 3 are male or female yet. Time will tell. It may be a small run for me if I get unlucky on the female to male ratio. I do have 2 fat glue moms sitting next to these little Dough G plants. I may mix a run as well but I usually don't like to do that. Vader is a nice guy and calming to watch. I think the main reason you do not see much of his gear talked about is his lack of HYPE. That is just fine with me. The cookies fam and Berner are marketing experts. People are free to do what they want...I do not get influenced by hype. You won't see me lining up at the Cookies store to get that latest Rozay variant for $80.00 a 1/8th. hehe.
Light height. So greengenes is the guy that built my light engines. He posts on the tube and has many highly informative videos. He runs 2 of these lights, 1 all white, the other with the enhanced reds, side by side. Check out some of his stuff and you can get a better idea of light distance to canopy with a 660 watt fixture. 18" would be my recommended min if you want to run it full bore for my light. The sf's may be diff. Mine are a bit closer than that because of some overgrowing. I also have dimmers so I can change it. Greengenes does a great job with nutes as well. Turned me on to Jacks..he has lots of great info...check him out. I do not have a meter either...I have heard so ok things about some of the apps for your phone.
I have gotten to week 8 of my current grow...chugging along nicely. They stayed greener longer this run, not perfect but better. Flopping all over because to tall for second trellis. I had to use some yoyo's which has helped some. Frosting up nicely.
Got sick for about 10 days and have done very little....feeling better now though.
Have a great day all. Peace, negative.

Hi all...end of week 8 has been reached...day 56. Funky and frosty is the word of the week. Going to do a water change out today and start the flushing. I am super happy...this run was auto pilot all the way. Just super easy and no drama. The quality is right up there as well. Glue is the easiest strain I have ever trimmed so that is a plus. I started pulling some of the big old fans today, keeping them for some bubble. I have gotten some sexy resin rails on some of the leaves this run. Fully believe the LED brings out the best in these babies.
GG4 clone only, day 56. End week 8.

Have the Dough G from Ocean Grown ready to roll. 3 plants vegging now and ready to go into the flower room when the gg4 is done. Real excited for a new strain and some variety in my daily smoke. Pretty happy that it has been over 10 months since I visited a retail outlet to get meds. Nice to be self sufficient. Not to mention the savings and quality increase!!
Have a great day all! Peace, negative.

Hey Negative that GG4 is looking super tasty! Wow the bud structure and frost looks insane. My hats off to you and your growing abilities. Run after run of fire. I have been slowly gathering my parts to jump back into DWC after I finish up my coco run, just starting week 4 of flower on 3 MSNL Great White Shark. I have about 5 seeds of Malibu Pie and 5 of Shockwave F2 I'm thinking about running to see if I can find a good keeper to make a mom out of. I'd like to run a full tent of 1 plant and get some consistent fire. How did you come by that GG4? Cant remember but I think maybe it was a clone you had from long ago?
I know you use Masterblend and mix up your own solutions. I'm thinking of moving to a powder fertilizer to save some money. Maybe Jack's because it seems easy to mix. Not sure if I could correctly mix the masterblend. I've been using GH trio and for several reasons would like to move away from those. I was watching medgrower1 on the tube and he uses floraflex nutrients but I haven't really seen anyone on the forums using them. Can I ask you what do think is important for good quality weed? Base nutrients obviously, cal/mag, also a p/k booster in flower seems like all needed. Probably add in microbes to the essential list. What about stuff like silica or sweeteners like bud candy? Do the additives really help the end product?
Happy growing and have a great day!

Thanks for the nice comments. The glue is the star...I am just bringing out what nature put in those wonderful genes. She is a frosty freak fo sure! I am very happy I have this strain. I picked up the clone many years ago at my local dispo. I got lucky one day when I walked in and the guy said he had 3 GG4 clones. I snatched them right up. Turned out 2 of them were not gg4 in any way. The 3rd one was the real deal. Must have been mislabeled or something else happened but in the end 1 was all I needed to keep me happy. Made clones ever since but not from the same mom.

I actually use Jacks 3-2-1. Best I have ever used. I mix it up in a concentrate and use in exactly like bottled nutes...easy peasy. Jacks is very complete and Flora Flex is not. Greengenes did a great nute video on salts. Do not really need a PK booster, but you can use one if you feel it is needed. I have used microbes, mammoth p and tribus. Honestly I saw zero difference. I do not use them any more. This run has been as good looking as the last and I used less. No mammoth, no tribus, no sensizym. I use silica in veg and the first week of flower but no more. I do use sweet cause I have a gallon left but I am dropping that next run as well. The basics do the job very well. My total line up is. Jacks 3-2-1, cal mag, hydroguard, silica, sweet(for now)and superthrive.

I changed out the rez and put in Final Phase for a week or so. Then to straight R/O till the end. Frost Factor 10!!. Looking so sexy with the browning pistils, red calyx edges and the white trichs. Good combo. Pulling out some of the fine nugs from last run tonight to celebrate my birthday month! They look so nice, just like the day they were jarred. About 10 weeks ago now...nice cure.

Here's to good luck finishing up your grow with style. Would love to see a couple shots.

Have a great day all. Peace, negative.

Good morning Negative. What a cool story about that gg4 clone cut. I bought clones from a dispensary one time and they came with the dreaded PM. Infected my whole grow and I battled it for a while but it just got worse and worse. Had to kill everything, disinfect and restart. Been good since then, fingers crossed. Needless to say but I've been leery of bringing in any more clones. Kinda too bad because they have some good cuts near me. Have you had any issues with pests or diseases from bringing clones in?

Oh yeah I think I remember you started out in this thread using the masterblend but switched to Jack's. Good to know about the flora flex nutes, seemed too good with medgrower1 40% off coupon. I think I will switch over to Jack's at some point soon. I'd like to run a monocrop a few times and test out the additives and sweeteners and see what I do and dont need. I agree with you though looks like most is not needed to get a good product.

Oh hey Happy Birthday there fellow grower and I wish you many more! Oh btw I just got and email from lumberjack seed source. They are getting a new seed drop from Vader. Something called DreadNaught?? I never heard of it. Also there is a discount code for 20% off. HALLOWEED21 if you need more seeds.

Sure I'll throw up a few pics of my grow. These were freebies I got from MSNL on one of my orders. These are on day 23.

Those plants are looking great and flowering along nicely! Does the strain have a name? Good to hear about Lumberjack but I am good for now. As far as pest I have been lucky getting clones. I always spray them when I get them. It has been about 7 years since I picked up clones anywhere. I have PLENTY of seeds for the rest of my life. You could dunk them and quarantine as well if you really want to pick up clones. Yes can be risky.

Now that said I have battled russets and kicked their ass! I got them from a infected TOMATO plant, hahaha. That was a stupid move on my part. Green Cleaner worked like a charm plus lots of cleaning. I keep up a IPM schedule now because stuff is on everything or can be..plus I have the dogs that are always bringing in unknowns.
Have a great day all. peace, negative.

Oh yeah forgot to write that in. It's called Great White Shark, I think it won a cannabis cup back in 1997 or so. Not sure how close this would be to that. It has a very pinecone like smell. Popped 4 but only 3 made it to flower. My #3 pheno is frostier than the other 2 but doesn't smell as strong.

Have you noticed any changes throughout the years with your GG4 clone? I've read after a while some clones get "genetic drift" that changes them slightly from original cut. Sounds like that could be bioscience though.

Great white shark is a great classic...be nice to see how what you have compares. Pine is a nice terp to have in your buds...the classic!
As far as changes on the gg4 clone....in short no. In fact I feel like it is better now but I think that is do to me being a little better grower than early on. The frost and gas smell I get now are better than before. LED has a bit to do with that I think.
I think you meant BROscience there...haha. I have kept a mom for a bit then taken clones from the best looking, biggest clones. Then kept one of those for a bit then back to the best clone. I think it has more to do with the health you keep them in than the plant itself. Keep them in a VERY good healthy state and they will be good. Let them go to hell and get stressed a bunch and your clones from that plant will suffer.

Getting my stoke on for the chop...probably still be about 10 days but I feel it is getting there...yeah baby!
Have a great day all. Peace, negative.
