loving this thread!!

will be organising my camera work soon to show off my (imaginary) swazi

have been having the same foxtailing irritation with the swazi...

but every now and then come accross a nice solid bud forming plant, still havent found the right taste in the right solid bud plant yet, so not keeping any clones till i do.

Growing indoor, topping, training, BADLY hight restricted hard core land race plants is possible - dont think that it cant be done ! used to be a 338 watt flouro grow but recently added a 250 hps and removed a 85w flouro = 503watt in 1.3m (height) x 1.2m (width) x 2.4m (length) space

cheers from Durbs !!

Hey Lasco, interesting genetics you have. I can't say I know anything about ganja from mauritius. Maybe someone else can chime in...?

Welcome Oldbootz. Good to see another local on here!
Talking of Swazi, this was some of the best Swazi I have had the chance to grow and smoke. This was 2nd gen of that line. I now have the 3rd gen seeds of this Swazi line ready to be sprouted.
She had lots of resin, good tight bud structure with zero foxtails and a strong funky menthol like smell. And above all a kick-ass high. I'm very happy to have some finaly have some good Swazi stock to be working with.

African Herbman does it again, Just stunning mate ;)

I remember in Africa (Zimbabwe) I was given some seeds call Zambezi Gold. They went through a pretty rough journey though & when I got home non would pop :(

Was lovely smoke though, Have you ever heard of Zambezi Gold?

Ye aparently it's a Swazi Landrace. From what I've seen and smoked, I think the Rooibaard and Swazi are 2 very differant lines. Both similar but put some Rooibaard next to Swazi and you'll notice the difference in colour, structure, smell, then smoke them and you'll really feel the difference.

I would put the Rooibaard as a "red" cultivar completely. Red stems usually, bright red hairs and dark buds. Swazi is by no stretch of the imagination a red variety. I agree they are landraces fromt he same area, just different landraces coming out of the same region.

RAGGA MON, many times I have seen what look exactly like Rooibaard buds in a bag of swazi but lack the unmistakable smell of redbeard and were just average when smoked.

The real Rooibaard seems sooooo hard to find. Got it only once before and I won't forget it. The same is a similar story with allot of local tokers. Only ever got the redbeard once and will always describe how legendary it was. I really want to get some of this shit in my stable so to speak.

Regards, Ah

i know what you mean.....i honestly believe that some of the staunchest ganja you are going to find in SA (as far as landrace) is going to come from the swazi gene pool. to date the best weed i've had in SA was swazi, a pheno that smelt and tasted like chocolate....really tops.
on a side note i would love to get my hands on some real pencils and score some beans from them..im talking the real poison....another that is hard to track these days.

Durban pencil buds? I've heard of them before is this, a small phenotype of Durban Poison or is this a curing method or old Durban line. I used to hear in the early 80's of some good Durban that was imported that was a white knuckle roller coaster ride. I've also tried a Big Sur Holy Weed that had a pink pistil "Durban" phenotype that was definitely racy.

OrganicMeds, thanks bro. It's a shame they didn't germ. I have heard of Zambezi Gold but never seen it. Haven't heard much, just that it was good grass from the Area.

Owl Mirror, looking real nice man. Do have have plans to prune or train it at all? Those Sativas will really stretch on you. Don't be surprised at 3x stretch! Hope it's a she..

Yea man, there is some good to be found in Swazi. That's why I'm trying to spend some time collecting and breeding the best Swazi I come across. I want to be able to have a Swazi line that is bred to consistently be really high quality Swazi with all attributes the kind of Swazi you would want to smoke has. Flavour, aroma, Typical explosive growth, high resin, refined bud structure, high calyx-to-leaf ratio, fast flowering, heavy yields and and extremely powerful high. Hopefully one day I will achieve this goal.

I think the gene pool is getting smaller and smaller and soon enough the the legendary Swazi will almost impossible to find. That's when I'll be growing my Swazi's hehe

I haven't seen DP pencils here in ages. I was lucky to get given a few DP seeds by a friend who gave them to him. They were from R15 matchbox DP that the guy sometimes sold. He usually sold good R15 Swazi boxes.(that was when 15R was a good box) The dude always used to rave about this stuff but could never manage get it.

Nice pics in you're gallery RAGGA! You grow any thing local at all?

Mota de Dios, A DP pencil is a small ammount of Durban Poison (usually one joints worth) wrapped up in a square of paper of sorts. It looks like a little stick the lenght of your finger. LowriderSA posted a pic of some pencils a few pages back I think.

Hello Ah, yes I'll train it eventually but, first I wanted to see the natural structure of the plant.
I flipped the timer in my veg closet as, these are the only plants inside except for the 4 clones I just took from the Mazar. I can only assume my flower closet will be cleaned up within a week.

I had a bit of a problem trying to collect the Nepali pollen. I took an old picture frame with glass in it and used that to catch the pollen as it fell. Well when I went to scrape it in to a pile, it seem to just dissolve right in to the glass and disappear.
Now I'm simply shaking the pollen clusters inside an envelop and hoping to catch some of what falls.

I was thinking, what about one of these ?

cheers...i've got some pips from the eastern cape just outside of knysna going.
only 1 has survived so i have high hopes regardless of gender since they would both be used.
the buds i got them from where light green, very crystalized, and had more so of a hash smell to it. not your typical jat at all.
comes from the same rastas every time i go there. its like clockwork, i go, they give me the shittest zol.. i laugh and tell them to quit with the kak and come with the goods or fuck off..they laugh and i end up leaving with a checkers bag of some of the best. god bless the art of african negotiation. lol

HAHAHA good stories mate! I know how it is:joint:. It's like they think you're stupid. After they know you only ever want the good shit they still always chance they're arm and offer you the absolute shit first.

How how's the local down your'e end? I got given some seeds from a mate collected from apparently good pot in Port ST Johns. He says the bud coming in there from Transkei is really good and stinky bud. Not like normal sweet sativa. Maybe similar kind of smell to the stuff you described. And very resinous.

He says there lots of Rastas and they love to blaze this shit all the time. Can't wait to give em a grow.

Cheers, Ah

Next to Congo Black pheno 1 after 4 weeks cure.

CB pheno 1. Green pheno with most resin and stinky spicy hashy smell. Tasted a bit like apricot/pawpaw when you pull on an un-lit J.

I can just feel my pulse raising and my heart thumping just from looking at that African goodness. I had to give up sativas, they just rip me with anxiety too hard these days. Beautiful job! A++

This thread is amazing  glad I found this one...as Im big sativa lover...I have grown few African sativas indoors - Malawi Gold is one of those and it was quite tricky plant to grow indoors and it took forever to finish...I also crossed my best Malawi Gold male to Matanuska Tundra, that one turned out to be nice sativa dominant cross...keep those mouthwatering photos comin :D

She is coming along really nicely now elmanito. Nice resin there too!

Here are how my Rooibaards's are doing from seed I managed to collect. I hope I find at least one REAL Rooibaard, male or fem.
picture.php

Have a look at this Rooibaard male. He was very quick to show sex. None of the others have shown yet and were trimmed because of hight.
He looks very solid and squat with good branching. Strange look to the leaves.
He has been removed from the others.

Nice thick and hollow, angular stem. Something I like to see in males.
Got a good smell too when it's rubed.
