adrenaline rush, things go bump in the night.......

So I come rolling into my driveway @ 9:00pm sharp after leaving
friends house, lock the car w/remote and as I illuminate my torch
(flashlight) I hear an abrupt grunt in the dark on the other side of
my pickup truck, absolutely human & of course having just pulled
into the drive I could not have surprised an animal. It was close &
so distinctly human that my heart just began pounding my chest.

House key is on the auto ring & so as a distraction I activate my
car alarm system, snap open the house lock & door where I have
a loaded gun stashed w/in quick reach, I shut the car alarm and
hear that guys voice suddenly stop talking (speaking to another
person?) in the renewed silence, it's quiet & dark in the country.

(hey mods, small mention of guns, not about guns, please don't bin)

My front, side & back yards are 100% dark, no yard lights, and so
I shout into the darkness (& flashlight's not bright) "step out now
mother fucker I have a gun!"
I hear nothing and can see less.
not sure if someone's hiding behind my F150 (plow truck log hauler)
I decide to run a few shots harmlessly into the air, now I can't hear
a friggin' thing even if I'd wanted to, feeling suddenly disadvantaged
I dash inside and call two friends that live on either side of me by a
mile along the same road, one takes his 4 wheeler & the other can
run like the wind and takes off on foot, both checking the roadway
and ditches for anyone on foot.

Bob shows first on the 4 wheeler & I warn him that Kieth's a couple
of minutes ahead on foot but all is clear on either side of me within
moments of my first pulling into my driveway, of course there are
100s of acres of woods along that two mile stretch but I've got to
think that whoever was sneaking around my joint now will have 2nd
thoughts about boosting me. about 3 months ago as a friend was
leaving my place he spotted two teenagers hiding in the ditch along
my roadway and only about 50-60 feet from my driveway, he called
me from his cell to tell me this & so I let my dogs loose on them, I
have two springers right now and one of them has to be muzzled at
the vet because she has a vicious streak running through her ever
since I gave her last puppy away (one we'd kept for 10 months) two
years ago. The kids ran off & I got a laugh out of it, now I wonder....

I live alone near a small community, my home & drive are visible from
the roadway, and although I own several extra vehicles they sit in the
same places week after week etc and so whenever the current ride
I'm driving is gone it might seem predictable that I'm most vulnerable.

Since I started writing this (way over 2 hours ago) two more friends
have come by after shining the woods hard w/Q-Beam spotlights but
have seen nothing, I know what I heard. although I'm overly cautious
I'm not paranoid at all about meeting a stranger in my yard, I'd have
thought I'd see a cougar in my yard before a person skulking around.

That's about it for the rush I got but I'm now faced with upgrading my
security around here. I already have 2 good independent digital video
capture cameras hidden inside my home but now I'm thinking of lighting
the yard with motion sensor lights and alarming my home to hopefully
discourage any entry, I can't run any alarm system to the sheriffs dept
for the obvious reason it gives them permission to enter & thoroughly
search my crib whenever they get an alarm, not good. but loud enough
it might make them think someone would hear the alarm & run them off.

The last time i felt anything like that, i was helpless...gun to my head and repeatedly beaten with the gun until left unconscious and bleeding in an alley, 1 am, nobody around. Somehow got up, stumbled to someones house who called the police and ambulance....

Just thinking about it brings the adrenaline back...glad you came out unharmed

I went through this with my outdoor (in my backyard)--
They took 2 plants, then got caught coming back the next night, by my son...(I was out of town)
Got chased...but not caught--
I put chain link around my grow, and spent $600 on an infra red camera system (4 cameras) with a 360 degree around my house--
No probs since--
I got trip wires all over my yard...(hope I don't end up tangled in one!! lol)

Hope whoever was creepin' your pad decided it is too dangerous to fuck with!!
Fucking rippers...:noway:

crazy story man, definately get some spot lights and illuminate that bitch. the other night i heard noises and saw a shadow and had to clear my backyard with the glock. i suddenly realized that i should install motion sensor lights out there which i have on the agenda.

crazy out there in the woods though. and probably not smart letting those shots off it gives your position away. that cool how you got a few friends surrounding your property.

thnx for the input guys, motion activated lights will be in by next week
sometime, being brightly lit usually foils trespassers. Again w/o focusing
on guns I know how to take care of myself but I'm more concerned with
trying to keep whoever it is away from my crib period, hurting someone
will only draw the worst unwanted attention to me & my home & garden.

I'm very private, secretive so I'm sure anyone thinking of breaking into
my joint is purely based on burglary and perhaps hopefully to find more.
many folks know I smoke but I don't often buy near home leading them
to maybe speculate as to whether or not I grow but none of my toking
friends would ever consider boosting my place, I don't work, and I don't
keep any kind of regular schedule, I NEVER tell anyone when I'll be away
for more than 1/2 a day even, it's just best to keep my biz, my biz.......

It's a tough economy and there are many poor people around here but I
can't afford to feed 'em or allow them to boost their income @ my expense.

Winnie the Poohs 100 acre woods?

crazy story man, i was gonna comment on the _ _ _ , but then i read on lol

yup, get a kick ass system man, i would if i could afford it I would have a panic room

i would not consider such experiences adrenalized fun. its maybe fun until someones killed. but ask anyone who has seen real violence/combat not fun not fun at all. anyone who feels differently is a little kid or at least a kid mentally and speaks from little experience. anyone who feels differently should not be on the street.

Damn stoner, glad all is well. thats some heart pounding shit!
i used to help operate a pretty large grow op in the country - each house being about a mile or two apart wayyyy the fuck in bfe.. miss those days..
anyways sometimes my partners would haveto take off for holiday or whatever..
our grow op was in a warehouse bout 50 yards from the house and let me tell ya even with our lights its hard to see that far in the dead of the night..
got spooked a couple of times but i'll chalk that up to the white widow and the general paranoia of the whole situation :biglaugh:

Always Good to be armed, even with the charges they may bring if ya get popped

Adrenaline and fear go hand in hand, so obviously it can be unpleasant but that doesnt mean you cant look back and say god damn that was a rush!! :woohoo:

Fake hunting people in the dark is a big rush. I'm good at it too. I used to play senerio paintball, and night games and shit. I could get right up on people and tap them on the shoulder with my barrel, before they would see me.

Hunting people with real guns in the dark though is just scary.

Scary yes but for people with the right training they are called US Border Patrol agents, US Special Forces :Seals, Rangers, Delta etc.., but the mexi cartels and their friends on this side of the border do it every now and then also.

my hunch is it was the kids back snooping around. i say motion activated floods... thats usually enough to deter the little rascals. and if they have the balls to get close enough to the house after that, a loud alarm should send them booking.

sure is scary tho. kids and their meth these days... you just never know. stay safe my friend.
