One of the a5 plants, the runt that was stunted under the fluence, is smelling how I was hoping that these s1 seeds would smell.
I think the following description only makes sense if you are from around here, but I think Karma will understand what I mean.
It smells like the magic haze from the smokey coffeeshop (from back in the 90's) or like "haze" they used to sell back then. It also reminds me of the a5 they used to sell in Sittard in the relax coffeeshop but darker, more incense. It's just fucking fantastic, this is exactly what I wanted from these beans!!!!
So a real nice dark, incensy typical haze smell with no sweet skunk influences whatsoever. I can't wait to get this one finished.
The a5 may have a long flowering time, but I only had 4 plants and already such a gem. I have been looking for these kinds of smells for a long time now, I am so glad I found it in these seeds.
After amnesia came out in 96, all dark incensy hazes vansished, and everything became amnesia or SSH, sweet lemony hazes. They were new and exciting back then. But haze isn't always about lemon, real haze is dark and not sweet at all. After all these years finally real haze again!!!!
For example the Killer a5, while having a nice hazy sativa look, and also having a real nice smell, leans more towards modern hazes. Don't get me wrong, she also smells fanfuckingtastic, and better than amnesia or SSH, but this a5 is just real dark haze.
One pheno of the a5 reminds me of the ag13 but less onion.
I have 12 more a5 s1 seeds because in the future I will pop more and look for more special plants. I am mostly interested in the haze side and not the NL side.
I don't know if it is the frisian dew vape bag I just finished but I am so fucking happy with these plants, like a kid who received the xmas present he wanted after waiting 20+ years lol.
The lights are out now and I have to control myself not to go and smell it lol. You can't imagine how I missed these smells.

Update part 1
Things are going ""ok"" considering the damage done to the roots.
I have 2 or 3 plants that are still unaffected. ALl the rest show signs of root damage by browning, burning and calmag deficiencies.
One A5 also has this and I hope she will make it till the end.
Up to now my favorite plants are one A5 pheno and the Killer a5. The HPH x skunk x a5 is nice, but they smell too skunky for me, that typical oldskool sweet skunk smell. It is not like I don't like it, but it is the kind of weed I grew up with and to me it doesn't smell special enough. I like stinky spicy strains, sweet strains not so, but that is just my taste, with food it is the same.

SHe is almost ready, the middle an lower buds just still need to ripen a bit more. SHe totally recovered from the root rot. She is hanging here cuz I just flushed her with a few gallons. Reason I flushed (normally I dont with living soil) is that I have used lots of stimulants for the root rot and I don't want it in the soil the last weeks. I kept flushing untill water was clear.
She is prettier than the outdoor version and also smells fantastic. Buds are really small as this was a old motherplant that got fucked under the fluence spydrx. She has really thin branches, and thus small buds.

Really cant wait to get another grow started as soon as I figure out how to correct those white led issues. Doing another grow under these viparspectra would be stupid. They do produce healthy plants and have a really good spectrum , but if I want to increase PPFD to 600-800 even with 4 lamps i have bad coverage. Hanging them higher gives an ok coverage but then I only get 350-500 PPFD. WHich is not enough when using 1000+ watts of light. Also, they produce quite a bit of heat which is difficult to control without airconditioning when you want to lower the lamps. This makes my co2 supplementation useless at these low par values.
I wonder if anyone knows a similar light but with a 120 degree angle and good coverage? The black dog is the only one I can think of but it is really too expensive lol.
I think this is easily the worst grow of my entire life, it started horribly and now the rot issue because I wasnt there for a few days, ugh....sucks the fun out of it..

Sory to go off topic THC...but his a5 x sk x hph...how exactly has it been made...has a a5 female been put to a skunk male...an then a female selected from this...wich they then put reversed hph pollen to it....???...or was it a skunk male put to hph...an. then a female selected from it wich was then pollinated with reversed a5 pollen.....I was just wondering were the straight a5 x sk or hph x sk seeds were....??? Could be interesting..

Haven't been on ic the past weeks busy busy busy.
I have had to harvest yesterday as the root rot got out of control, I think with the warm weather. I was keeping watering to a minium but they were just too damaged.
The moment I saw the leaves in the buds brown I decided it ws time for harvest before they get bud rot. it is a mircacle they made it to the end(or almost)
All in all this has been he wotrst grow of my life lol? but that had nothing to do with genetics.
Some were ready some needed longer. The a5 could have used a few more weeks for sure but it is what it is.
I will post pics later.
Going to run a few phenos again some could have been good yielders with a decent light and no health problems. The A5's leafiness was okay in the end, made some nice buds.
Also had a real special a5hphskunk pheno: smells like garlic, sulfur, and has the same kind as smell as ukcheese. Not the same smell but the same type of pungent putrid smell. I call her Stinky Sue lol
With the heat I switched my LEDs to flower mode only, so lots of red light and that really sped up the ripening.
With the heat and these viparspectra quality has suffered I think, still need to try, but it became real hot withotu airconditioning...

It could still take a week. I alraedt took pictures. But at the moment I just cant do a long update. I have been having an injury in my right rotator cuff (ac joint). I got this injury a year ago due to bad working environment and a boss that wont invest in a adjustable desk.
Due to corona i wasnt able to get my diagnosis, so I am going to the hospital soon. The pain is just as bad as it was one year ago. Havent been able to do fitness or any lifting. The thing that causes and really aggravates the pain is using mous and keyboard so I have to avoid this as much as I can. I feel like I just lifted way way way too much weight with the shoulder press and like I just got injured yesterday.
Will do it asap guys, weed or painkillers doesnt help my pain it is really intense and constant.

I am slowly recovering from injury. I did many adjustments,, now waiting for a desk that has height control so I can work with a pc again. I stopped using a mouse and use trackpad. I just cant hold a mouse anymore it's crazy, after a few minutes sharp pain, its crazy.
I still cant do weightlifting though, sinds july last year. A shame cuz I was finally totally ripped after much effort eating right and training years.
Anyhow enough about my pain and suffering lol, back ot the plants.
Over the coming days I will do the updates and smoke reports. In the meantime evezrything is stored and curing.
The yield was really low, I did not weigh it but It wasn't even a pound, I think 400g. 3 plants died due to root rot and had to be harvested way too soon.
The rest had a good yield but the 1100 watts of Viparspectra really had awful coverage, so under the light 550 PPFD but that was only one square foot or so, so total average PPFD was maybe 350 par. So actually these lamps are too expensive to use anymore. They consume so much and give off little light.
I was afraid quality would be bad due to the heat and no airco. But I am pleased to say that the quality is really excellent. If this was done with HPS it would be unsmokeable as the last weeks it often was 35 degrees celsius in the tent. Despite the heatt they stil smelled stronger than any HPS grow I did, no more scorched tops or buds that don't smell. HPS doesnt work well in small tents IME.
I also experimented with changing a few details about processing and did 6 side by sides and they all went really well. Even the ones in jars are almost all good this time.
I did not know what to expect from the' HPHx Skunk X HPH and was much more interested in the A5 but it is an amazing cross. All plants were different but all were special. i will describe them in the coming updates. One of the HPH for me even is a worthy replacement of my lost AG13 mother. It smells so much like it but less onion and carrot, which is a good thing. Effects range from devastating to euphoric high which turns heavy after 30 mins.
Itr's like some phenos, when I vape them in the morning and want to start my day they really get me up and energetic and happy and then after a half hour I have to lay down and cant move lol. So I don't touch them in the morning anymore lol.
I also tested another pheno 2 days ago. I call it the sweet golden pheno. It was already strong fresh. But I tested a jar that had been curing a month (no burping). Amazing taste and the effect was not stoned or high but "an experience". I think this is the 4th time I had this in my life. Sometimes I have multiple batches of the same harvest processed or cured in different ways (or the same way with details changed). I was just in another dimension, I had to sit down on the couch, had double vision and was all the time trying to turn the double vision back into singular vision, I couldn't move, my arms and legs and all muscles were like overcooked noodles. And also in the head I was totally far away. At a certain, point, and I almost never get this as my tolerance is sky high now, I thought shit this is just too strong. After a full 90 minutes I was finally back on earth again and just comfortably high. All the time I was thinking wow this shbit is good. Sadly when I opened the jar the next day, the special effect was not there anymore, it was still strong and tasty, but it was normal weed again. But the first bud I took out of the sealed jar was just wow. I wonder how you can keep it that way after opening a sealed jar after a long cure?????That one bud I tested that evening was tripweed lol
I am going to buy some more A5 x HPH x Skunk seeds cuz it really is an interesting combination with fantastic diverse smells. These were only 6 seeds, I want to see what else there is to be found.
The A5 haze had to be harvested too early du ot the root rot. But still they are really strong and cerebral. But up to now, none of the plants give the smoke coming off the joint that church incense smell. And that is what I remembered of the A5. I have one that kinda smells like incense when you smell the bud, but the smoke doesn't give off the smell. I did not find a keeper in these 4 seeds (1 didnt germ and one was a runt)
So I ordered 12 more news seeds.
When I will do these I will post a report here, so to be continued.
I love these old genetics, thx Karma for the opportunity to grow them, and next time, I will honor the plants instead of the horrorshow that happened here lol

I can feel you with the high temps- I´ll probably never do a summer run again! At least not with HPS!
