Yes thats why mine are still on....I LOVE PERLITE!!!FUCK HYDROTON!!!Im not even sure why people still use it..Ill never have another rock in my garden...EVER...Ph is more stable,perlite uses more water than hydroton,..and i feel the roots love the perlite..Only draw back is the light weight of the perlite..Had to tape it down to keep from floating until the plants rooted far enough down!!!
Maybe a layer of hydroton on the top that doesn't get wet could hold it down and stop light from getting in, prevent algae and what not? Might even help hold the clones in place better. I was a hydroton user for a while and going back to hydro soon but I don't like a lot of things about hydroton and I know I don't have to explain them to you lol. I am going to look in to pearlite, what are the key differences you see between them as far as feeding/flooding and working with the stuff in general (potting,moving, floats? etc).
