400W Distance

That is way too much light. You want them to root, not grow at that point. Could fry them from heat also. Many use T5's throughout most of veg and would keep at that distance or more, that early.

Hi locdog thanks for the info but I don't have any other light to use.
So I will need to see what happens as I don't have any cash to buy
Any new lights.but I will buy T5 for future grows.

Hey Budgrower4life I think you may be able to use simple fluorescent lighting.
Reasonably inexpensive or found second hand maybe.....Craiglist if your US based.

Try to barter too.....that's worked for me in the past.

I have been busy as shit trimming. T5's would be good to veg an 8 X 8 foot areas, with same wattage. I use CFL to root clones, and young plants. Move to regular fluorescent for growth, than intense HPS for flower.
