I built my flowering box with $400. four hundred is more then enough to get a bad ass setup going. Although this does not include soil/nutes/seeds. When I started I only bought what I needed.

HTG 400w HPS w/ refelctor hangers- 150$
That left me $250 to build a cab. If you can't build a small (4x4x5) box with $250 you are surely spending your money too frivolously.

$100 to build the box (wood, hinges, siding, screws)
---but you could do this even cheaper with PVC pipe and Poly (see Extend a closet post)
$50 for inline fan and venting.
$30 for 3 8" oscillating clip fans.
$20 for mylar or poly
$20 for extention cords/surge protectors

$400 will start you but you'll quickly find yourself spending much more. Hell I spend $400 a month on the power bill. Fix a blown up ballast, replace a carbon filter, order some nutes, splurge on some new genetics, on and on and on man. Just take your time, spend smart and you'll enjoy smoking your very own fan leaves soon while you wait on some bud.

the 1 gallon buckets from dolla tree are 8" 4 x 4 = 32" x 32" you can space them out a lil more to get a 36 x 36 witch is about what you want for a 400

with this set up you can pick up items along the way and all ways upgrade to a 1k and use the 400 for veg
