3600w vertical (multiple strains)

Finally got around to posting up a journal on my progress thus far. I am going to be running 6 x 600w hps hung vertically. I've got 2 x 8" vortex exhaust fans hooked up to controllers. I am only using 3 x 400w mh bulbs right now for veg. I am running x4 bf critical kush, x4 g13 white critical, x2 girl scout cookies, 1 cookies frost, 1 grand daddy purple, x2 blueberry haze. So far I'm on week 4 of veg but the most recent pics are from 11 days ago. I will be sure to take recent pictures. Just to clarify this is a legal medical marijuana grow.

At you growing from seed or clone? Will you be arranging plants donut style, if yes, how many poorer light?

I should have clarified on the first post but no edit button lol. All these years and I haven't unlocked it. Anyways, the white critical and critical kush are from seed, all the other strains are from clone. Something else I should mention is this room is a medical grow, so it is split up between a partner. He will be running different strains. This room is at 15x13 with 6.5 being the highest point. I will be doing a donut style, as far as how many, more than likely will be 4 white criticals with 1 600w and 1 600w for the criticals and the other 600w with all the other clones. Something along the lines. I'm hoping they fill in real nice since I've been vegetating since the second week of december. This is also the first time growing in this room, so I will be more or less dialing in.

6/donut is my sweet spot, I've run 8 with decent results, but they can crowd reach other depending on strain and veg. Let then get 18-24"before flipping and train those branches towards the light and you should get a decent yield

Yeah that's around the size I'm aiming for. I will go with around 5 to 6 per light. Week 4 of vegetation. Started to LST most of the bunch, will probly finish off the rest once they get a bit taller. Got about 16 days till 12/12 so I'm hoping they really fill in by then.

Is there a reason you are on a16 day deadline? I recently pulled the trigger too early on a set up I've been growing in for years and I'm kicking myself bc there is so much unused canopy; my yield is going to be half of what it should be. It pays to get that sideways canopy full in order to maximize the vert bulbs potential.

Its going to be though, by the way, running multiple strains. However, variety is the spice of life...I do it myself...I just adjust the shorter plants height with milk crates or bricks.

Nah no specific reason just wanted to make a schedule. Might let it go an extra week, who knows. I realized that about the multiple strains and am okay with it since it's the first run in this room. Might be looking for a solid 1 or 2 strains.

I have done a very similar vertical grow to this a few years ago. Didn't yield as much as I do with hoods now, but the bud was some of the best I've helped blossom. The room looks great though! Good strains too, I've had good results with lots of criticals. A few things I could suggest:

- lower those lights to hit the tops/sides of the plants and spread them out a bit
-grab some garden fence and make cages around the bulbs to utilize your lumens. Train the plants into the cage and trim off whatever is behind it and does not receive light so that the energy gets transferred to the sweet spots. they sell the stuff at depot/lowes for cheap and you can reuse them for years.
-Let those smaller plants dry out longer if your not already. In those size pots I've let mine go 6-8 days w/o water to let the roots search and to help establish a solid root system before flooding the medium every 3-4 days.

Keep up the solid work mayne!

You are very right about the watering, and yes I have been watering about once a week. As far as yield, this is my first run, so who knows. Seems like you've been there done it, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I will be lowering the lights, thanks for the suggestion. I've still got my money on vertical, though xD

I miss it! The buds always came out more natural and well formed IMO. Hoods really make everything direct and if your not within the lines, yield is compromised. What's your temps/RH looking like?

It's actually been on the very low side of 72s in the day and 56 at night on average. Humidity will go from 70% to 45% most of the day. I know I won't be having these issues when flowering starts but for now I'll add in 2 more 400w bulbs to bring in more light/heat.

It is monday night with great cold temperatures outside. Just finished up a watering with cal mag only. I also moved around the ladies 180 to try and get some nodes in on the back side. I've got the 4 critical kush and 4 white critical on the first pic. The 2 girl scout cookies and cookies frost being the tallest on the second pic. Then both blueberry haze and gdp on the third pic. They're really liking all this light 5 bulbs with a total of 2000 watts. Going to be adding a few more fans on the wall but this room is pretty close to done.

everything's looking good! I would suggest cutting some 1.5" pvc into 1" sections and using them as spacers for the bottoms of your pots. 4 under each in between the pot and the saucer should ensure the runoff doesn't get soaked up. Also have noticed plants struggle when a fan is directly hitting them all day. Unless its oscillating, I would keep them off the foliage unless its on a timer. What kinda medium are they in?

That pvc idea is definitely a must on my to do list now. As far as the fan, I'm going to start moving it around so they don't get hit 24/7. They're in 60% fox farm ocean 20% perlite and 20% vermiculite. Definitely some good tips, thanks.

That room looks beast, I now see why you say our grows are very similar. I have been looking up a lot of organic mixes that I want to try soon along with a DWC run. I'm already listing goodies for my outdoor soil mix I plan to buy soon. I honestly just want to use up these fox farm nutrients and switch to straight organics and after a lot of research full DWC. I appreciate all your input thus far bro!

Thanks for stopping by, guys. I've been looking a lot into DWC and organics and I feel like organics catches my attention more for the awesome tasting bud it produces. I can see organics in my growing future :D

Another update here, getting close to flip time with most of these ladies really getting big. Gave them a full dose of nutes today so I'll be looking out for the sensitive ones. Also thinking of taking clones tomorrow.

Looking good! The title caught my attention, cuz I'm building a 6x600w vert grow myself!

I'll be doing half of them a top drip hydroton and the other half soil....all mixed strains. should be a circus. lol

Best of luck...subbed :tiphat:

Nice! I did so much research and thought in going hydro but I finally decided for my bigger project I have in mind organic will fit me better. Advice I have for you, try and keep each light to a 5-7 plant minimum. It'll help them grow faster and make watering a lot easier. Soon as I put in 5 x 400 for a total of 2000 watts they really started growing. (More individual attention)

I'm not doing doughnuts, I'm doing two rows of 6 with a 600 between each pair I'm flowering out my mother's because they're getting too big and I want a fresh batch for outdoor soon. Problem is some are in soil, some in hydroton. Ya...should be a cluster!
