Hi guys.
This will be my second grow here on ICMAG. I'm a hobby grower with a very limited budget. I'm less concerned with perfection than I am with enjoying myself. That said, I do try hard to grow good happy plants. Give me advice!
Redgreenery, Verdantgreen, Nicoli, Blynx, and Drbudgreengenes have been especially inspirational for my grow and style of growing. Lurkers like me learn a TON from you guys. Hats off.
I'll start with a little information about my cabinet. Its made from plywood and 2x4's. It stands 44 inches tall by 29 inches wide and 16 inches deep. Right now I'm running 8 40 watt, 2700K CFL bulbs. I've got a custom made hood with two computer fans pulling air past the bulbs. I ordered a piece of glass to fit the hood and I dropped my temperatures by about 15 degrees. The glass stays cool to the touch and most of the hot air gets pushed up and away from my plants.
Here you can see my bulb setup, and where one of the bulbs melted the panda film before I got the glass partition.
So here's the background on my plants. This grow I'm running 6 bagseeds and one clone. A friend gave me seeds and told me they're "avalanche" and I've seen another friend grow some out. They're good plants and good smoke, but they've got a tendency to herm. All six of the seeds I germinated have pistils on them. Good luck for me. Hopefully they don't herm on me. The seeds were germinated on 11/24/10 and #7 a week later.
My biggest plant is from clone. I'm pretty sure it's Mendocino Madness, but I don't actually know yet. When I received it, it was mixed in with two other clones. In my haste, I lost track of which was which. So. Its either a "purple voodoo" or "mendocino madness". At any rate, it was purchased at a dispensary and I expect quality genetics. PV is supposed to purple up near the end of the grow, so I should know by the time I'm finished. I'm just going to refer to it as the mendo, until I see evidence otherwise.
These plants are on day 17 of flower.
Here are all 7 plants, out of the cabinet.
Avalanche plants # 2 5 3 4 6 7(#1 didn't germ, #5 and #3 are in the same container.)
Here's the clone of the Mendo that I started with.
And how it looks now.
These plants are growing in Miracle Grow. Next time I'll get some better soil (and nutes). I've been feeding them with molasses, Eleanor's VF11 (anyone else tried this?), and occasionally blood meal.
#3 and #5 are in miracle grow organic, amended with blood meal.
I haven't really had too many problems so far. The plants probably look kind of small to you guys; It was a slow veg and I had a lot of other stuff I was working on so I really didn't care for these plants all that much. I LST'd all of the plants, but on some of them, the ties kept coming undone (AV: 2,4,6). This was just a hassle and half the time I just let them go. They've got kind of a funky structure because of it.
That's all I can think of. I'll continue to update with pictures and questions.
Take it easy everyone.
