would it be sufficient to JUST use netting to keep together a big 10 lb tree? Or, do you also need to have those 3 metal posts and the netting for support?

I do not think I will have access, or it may be difficult for me to add 3 metal posts, so I was wondering if it could be done alone.

it can def be done. what you can do is tie off the four corners of your trellis screen to surrounding trees. this would create a nice tight canopy over the top.

but it is much easier to go buy some 8' stakes 4 of them per plant. wrap trellis around the plant and over the top.

hey thanks man!! hopefuly ive inspired others to do the same next year!

You did! Pulled down three trees, fridge and all coolers full, time to trim but ill post deets soon and a pic or two. Did 2 homemade pots, 6 bales plus manure each, setting up 20 once freeze hits
