its not the max ampacity with transformers that is fucking confusing its the overcurrent protection... i just did a job with this microscopic pissy 3kva, 277/480v 4w 3 phase transformer, we were trying to get this stupid ghetto water plant into compliance.

the NEC regs for transformers are fucking wierd and i dont understand why they are the way they are.... inrush current yea, but if the fuses/magnetic breakers are so oversized then how do they protect the windings on the "dry type" transformer?

i hate working outside my depth.

No I understand that but I thought we was talking about a 100amp supply not transformer , where I'm from unless where talking industrial electrics transformers belong to the power networks not consumers not sure if that's the case everywhere

We just get speced KVA and amps per phase some power companies will even test harmonics for power factor correction.
Inrush current can be tamed easily by setting Gavita DE's or timers on lighting and excessive loads a minute apart .

Regulations seem to tightening every year over here they release a new book every year and it 80 odd quid lol and you need this to comply with new regs massive money involed as always :tiphat:
