cheers blackone..I find photographing all the girls helps me pin-point genetic/trait changes..
so I have thousands of photos.
The Bud-WIDER pheno on the first page has just been cleaned.

the tric photos above are from a leaf..this is from the calyx..
and everybody sitting with a marijuana botany book will know what they say about the amber trics..

I understand the ambition.
You will be happy to know there are males showing up @F1 & F2 showing the same trait...although I think I am going to need Cold temps to pull the full colour..
we will see.
The fems haven't shown yet
the thing for me will be to get it on AF

if I can see it..I can have it..
so it is just a matter of time.

mossy: I've been searching around the globe (Nah, but pretty much every damn location i've visited on my vacations) for the black genes. All i've seen and get a hold of is some dark purple. Way lighter then your black DC, and nothing "good" to breed on. Looking forward to follow your work on the perfect "black tomato".
The AF doesn't mind me so much actually, it's nice with the oppurtunity but in the end it's all about the color for me

BlackMagic she is a purple..I think it is her Undercoat of strong red that makes her look so Black to the eye.
You know there are few true blacks in the natural plant world..
but there is one at the back of the JEMS.
Anthracite/coal colour buds and black rimming on the leaves..
I have seen the same trait in some of the DC's..it was part of the attraction..but this is not her.
Have you looked at Black Domina..?
This is her first showing colour..she came in Pink first..like her mom.
See I have one of the pure JEM line purple/tar non-af's on her shoulder to give me a colour check. ..
See the odd formation on her head-piece..I think that may be an identifying trait/tell.
this is her with strong sunlight behind her..and you can see the depth of the red.
Red and purple=black.

Just for interest..the little white on her right..is the Mom of the Bud-WIDER pheno that started the thread..after she had been put back to the ALF's for AF content.

Right..I better start the thread proper before everyone gets bored of my rambling on.
Anyone that has followed the thread before knows that ALF#3 was made specifically to take the DC cross.
please bear in mind that all the crosses mentioned are LR's.
so
ALF#3 is JEM x Lownranger x White Russian.

you Still have the distinction of being the Only person I have ever seen that could grow a JEM to Perfection in miracle grow...it just suited your touch.
The only time I tried them in ferted compo..they all committed suicide.
I'll take a defeat on that one.
I do remember the cat with a leer in it's eye when it was looking at them..
This is the third lot.
This photo makes me smile every time i look at it..because it shows the Power behind the AF's.
The big one is the non-af version..and the little one peeking out at the bottom is the AF version.
Not only are they Sisters..but they are exactly the same age too.
and..
there are 2 big ones and 4 AF's all in the same 20 ltr pot.

mossy: I've tried with both VB (Vietnames Black) and BD (Black Domina), i picked the best phenos with the darkest colors and breed them together. Still working on that project
The dark red undertone is magical, kind of reminds me of Reon Argondian's paintings. He always mix his true black colors with dark red to get intense shadows

SmokeyTheBear..sorry m8..I must have posted over you.
Personal opinion only..but I would never use pre-ferted compo on ANY seedlings.
But that could be a reflection on my growing skills or my conditions.
The only time I used pre-fert I killed two out of four long season girls..
totally unrelated to the JEM line..and all the JEM's.
I saw them stop..then they yellowed..then they started showing the classic red veins that you associate with fert burns.
I saved two of the long season girls by washing the roots and replanting..but because the AF's have such an accelerated growth rate they could not be saved.
Because I am probably in the hottest part of europe..I water more frequently and my girls will have an accelerated transpiration/uptake rate..
so conditions could have played a part.
When Meaty got the JEM's I begged him not to use MG..but that was what he was used to growing in..he did and as you can see his turned out Fine
It is just something I would not try again in My conditions.

I have only seen the black domina and the ones I saw had intense black stems and tattooing on the leaf..
(DC carries the black flower/pistils and black leaf tattooing too in certain phenos.)
but I have no idea of the density of colour that you are working with.
What I THINK I have done with mine is I have hit a strong Kush dominant.
Kush is known to purple up madly in cold conditions that is why I am not sure if I will get Full colour without the cold.
What gives me hope is..
if you look at the First photo of her..
there is a one of my normal purples with her..same conditions
and their leaves have not coloured up.
so either I have hit a colour accumulator..or I've hit a cold sensitivity trigger.
Only time will tell.
Once you get your posts up we will have a yap in private and I will explain..
I don't want everyone knowing my secrets..
or they will all have them..
