1st grow, soil/cfl/rubbermaid/bagseed....scrog???

Stopping for a short bit. I seem to not have my act together. First seed got about 2mm taproot, planted it, then spilled it and coild not find it within the first 2 hours. Second seed, i apparently destroyed by trying to get it to germ "overenergetically ". Got 3rd, with a good 1cm long taproot, planted last night, then proceeded to dump the whole SIP-IN-BOTTLE thing AGAIN. It may survive still, givimg it 3 days to see.

NOTE TO SELF:
Leave it alone. Relax. Take a hit. Relax....

It is alive!!! 1st pic was taken Saturday morning after 3 days with no light.

I am thinking/hoping that this is the last bubblicious seed that I spilled. At least i hope so, as the other oprion is that it is one of the random bagseed that i originally started, since i topped off the soil here with some from that attempt, although that was over a month ago.

Either way, i dont want to kill it, obviously.* (Now, how do I deal with it being at the very edge of the soil?)

2nd pic is same plant as of 10 minutes ago.

Now, though, I had my last bubblicious seed germinating, and checked it yesterday , and it has popped. I guess I am putting 2 plants in my space. Not my original plan, but sometime you have to go with what you got!

Gotta start somewhere. Good job staying with it. Most people drown their plants at first. Be careful with watering!

Yep...just keep on trying...we all will make mistakes along the way.

I am a new grower also...here is a pick of my sour diesel at 7 days from breaking the surface.

Slow update.

Here is a pic from this morning, of the first plant(hereafter designated simply #1). Looks nice to me, but I'm a newbie at this. Side view is included. I think i am coming up on the 5th node, but unsure. I intend to top, in order to make scrog easier. Any thoughts on this?

Also, just noticed that the roots are extending sown into the water res, alongside the microfiber chamois wick in my makeshift 2l bottle SIP. Will that be a problem when I transplant to a bigger container?

Ok, progression of pictures.

A few days ago, the day before I transplanted into the new pots, #1 looked a touch droopy.

Then I prepped the new 6qt containers.

Then, in the transplantation process, some roots got ripped off, as they extended into the water through the wick. #1 looked even sadder. Also, here are both plants in the new homes.

Last picture is from about 30 minutes ago. I guess all is well with #1.

A little update.
I topped #1 today, pinching above what i think was the 5th node. I am hoping that, in addition to increasing yield a touch, it will allow #2(hereafter "The Runt") to catch up a bit.

Age wise, The Runt is only about a week begind #1, but developing much slower.

1st pic is both plants together today, 2nd pic is #1 from yesterday, and third is #1 this morning after topping and light use of bamboo skewers to turn her a bit, as she isn't centered in the tub.

Trying to decide if it's time to flower, or if I need to do some pruning and veg another 10-14 days.. #1 has been above ground for 31 days, and The Runt for about 28. These pics are from today.

Any opinions on which way I should go?

Not sure if anyone is interested in this, but I switched my bulbs to 8 2700k, and 4 5000k, but still at 16/8. Saturday, I will make the change to 12/12. I amThis is your uber driver, Doug. I am at your location per the uber app in a red Hyundai Sonata guessing 10 weeks (2 preflower/8 actual flower), but will update pic's as needed.

Abojt 45 minutes ago. Not sure if this looks good or not. Feels droopy, but as I've said, I haven't fed a drop of nutes.

Maybe I need to...

Are the new lamps LED or back to CFL ?

Lol:laughing:.... my uber driver yesterday sent that to me. Not sure how I got that mixed in to my post.

Yeah, I need to run some tape around the outside of the lid to 100% light proof it.

The lights are all 9w LED.

Go buy 2x 100w 4000-3500K LED chips from Ebay and 2x 1400ma 36v drivers . Should cost no more then 35$ and reap the benefits of LED and yield for that small space . CFL's are a thing of the past imo. This would give you 100w 2x 100w chips running at 50w a piece . Should run cool and efficient . Should yield more then CFL and be cheaper in the long run . (No need to replace bulbs) Should hit a 4-6oz dry no problem once dialed in

Myself I would do 2x 100w chips 2x 700ma drivers at 25w a piece and probably hit the same numbers without all the heat a 1400ma driver would push at 50w a chip

I have been remiss in updating this thread.

Giving each plant a mix of Seedlingers Elyxir and FF Tiger Bloom.

The Runt is now the bushier of the 2, and in front in the together pic. Flipped to 12/12 on 1/16.

Pics from 3 weeks and a wake up at 12/12. Never grown before, but I am guessing that this looks good enough for a first timer.

Very last photo shows a funky lil bud at the end of a wide, flat stem/branch.

Any thoughts/guesses on possible yield?
