I was considering running water through the material before adding the limonene to extract with and take that water which would have absorbed some terpenes and distill it to collect the terpenes.. the water and limonene evaporate together in a vacuum distillation set up such as a rotovap, water is continually added to the limonene concentrate in the rotovap until there is no limonene left and then the last of the water is evaporated at the end.. can also be further dried in a vacuum oven once removed from the flask.. Adding the water as a first step could also saturate the plant matter allowing less solvent to be lost to the material. This actually sounds quite interesting. What about the terps? Could they be collected via short path in the first stage and then added back after? How are the water and extract separated after limonene evaporation?
