Very cool. I like the side lighting but feel like you'd need very tall and bushy plants for it to be effective. How long are you planning to veg for? I've only done SOG in an aeroflow, I'm very curious to see how this turns out. What is that median your using? looks like a pool noodle.

This is the first round, I started with 4 clones that were pulled off of flowering plants. They took forever to revert to veg, When they did I pulled 30 clones off of them. Now all of those clones are rooted, Which is what you see in the veg room pictures.

I plan on veggin for two months, So basically the entire time I flower, I veg. I will control stretch and node length during that long veg period by stripping. I plan on growing tall plants then laying them horizontal across the net during flower.

ogenko,
It is an Aero/NFT hybrid. The water jets hit the insides of the tubes creating a fine mist then the water runs down the tube and drains back into the res and re circulates. Theres basically no water in the bottom of the tubes...Id say its 1/16th of an inch. Its the least amount of water thats allowed by the seals around the drain tube. In other words, The drain tubes are pushed all the way down and that never changes, even during cloning.

Krazyie, You know I will, Fo sho! Hahaha.

The noodles are like this, 4" noodle cut 1 and 1/2 inches deep for cloning. Once rooted deep, They are then transferred over to 4" noodle cut 3 1/2 inches deep for more support when they get big.

Obviously im running 2 Aeroflo 60's. One for veg, one for flower. When its time to flower I disconnect all tubes and take them into the flower room and re connect them in there. I then bring the empty tubes into the veg room re connect them and take clones from all the plants I just put into flowering.

All res draining and refilling works on a pumping system I setup, So I have hoses ran to both rooms for draining and re filling. Alls I need to do is drop a pump in the res to drain or drop a pump in the RO tank to re fill. Thats the pic of the 2 hoses hanging on the wall in the flowering room, One is drain, One is re fill.

More later!

Thanks Supadupe! I appreciate the love.

Im going to be using these hacked netpots with the 3" neoprene insert for cloning from here on out. They are just so easy.

Wicked setup man! Good work all the way through. One question- how come no white reflective material?

Good question Wise. Because I ran out of money! Hahaha. I will eventually do panda film or even mylar for the time being. The room is intense as it is, So im more worried about paying that huge electric bill than panda right now ;) The flower room is 4 x 600w HPS above and 6 x 400w HPS around. The veg room is 3 x 400w MH above. Factor in heaters, chillers, intake and exhaust fans, AC when summer sets in and I have a damn near 1000 dollar a month electric bill. Just the veg room alone is 350 a month, with no AC, Just heat.

Thanks Max!

Oh, Heres what the roots look like when you let those tubes fill up and leave em filled. Believe it or not, This plant here is over 2 months old. Im about to kill it, This is not root rot....But more of an in between health and rot. The water was never warm enough for full root rot to set in. These plants were put thru hell while I was dialing this rig and room in.

Im not in a house ;) Aloha John!

All together, Im actually running over 10,000 watts. The flowering room HPS is drawing a bit over 5000 on their own. You would be surprised how bright 5000 watts is when its not all pointing down. I have to where sunglasses in there when the bulbs are at their hottest.

Here's text book PH and CAL def. These leaves say PH is low, Like in the 4's and CAL is almost non existent or completely locked out. Poor girl, Eh who am i kidding....She deserved it. This one did nothing but throw fits the whole time.

No way, that's actually a pool noodle? I'm for sure sticking around for this one, you may be the first person to clog the aeroflows gutters with roots

I did it in 2005, already been done. Had to cut the root systems out with razor blades and I also had to put screens over the drain tubes so the roots wouldnt clog em up by growing down them. I also had to constantly manipulate the roots around the hole because they will still stop water from draining even though their not growing down the tube.

The plants were over 5 feet tall in a pool noodle hahaha. No netting either, It was a mess but it was awesome! I wish I still had pictures of that but my laptop got stolen when the house got broke into on Christmas eve....Go figure. Im only flowering 24 plants at a time, So thats four plants in each tube. I will clog each tube with those four.

I did the ol stanley fan conversion for everything but cooling the HPS. Both rooms have an intake and exhaust, Thats four stanley blowers ordered from Home Depot for 50 bucks a piece. The HPS are cooled by a massive furnace fan located in the ceiling behind the black plastic. All exhausts meet in one place and run out of the top of the building.

The black plastic serves two main purposes, No light leaks and a sealed environment. Black plastic and gorilla tape are your best friends.

I use the lucas equation to estimate top off, I really wouldnt say I use the method....I mean, Mathematics and chemistry are no strangers to one another, I just use the equation and give the plants what they need and balance the res back out.

I have a mini laptop that lives at the grow, I document every visit on that. Thats the screen shot of how I keep my documents in order.

The plant with the hacked limbs is the short bushy one in my first post.

See the fire extinguisher? Safety first kids!
