If it has balls it's male, if it flowers without a light cycle change to 12/12 then it's autoflower if not either of those then it's female.

Pull the stipules down with toothpick and take a picture, do it on the top and interlode directly under.

Germinating your seeds,getting to know your seedlings,watching 2 seedlings that sprung show completely different characteristics......... Planting seeds is best ,cloning( just )makes sense.

Don't know who told you that information but most plants when they get rootbound or reach sexual maturity meaning females will show sex that does not make it a autoflower.
