Hi Pandy :)

Thanks for starting a thread about your new sativa grow in your new setup.

We at ACE have produced a Tikal x Honduras cross which a few grew and enjoyed, although this hybrid still needs further evaluation of its potential. On ther other hand, we have never produced a Malawi or GT x Honduras cross like you and Solar Logos did, so i'm eager to learn more about your experiences with your homemade crosses ;)

Guess your 2 sativas will fill up easily your growing space.
Best wishes for the flowering stage!

Thank you for your very kind words Dubi, it really warms my heart.:huggg: You know, for edification, I've gone back and have read so much on the Ace board and I've never seen an unkind word coming from you or directed towards you. To the contrary, I've seen so much love, admiration, respect, encouragement and really, all that is good from yourself and well as the community. It is yourself and the community that set the vibes on here. I just try to harmonize with my environment without disruption. This is the only social media account I've ever had, but like I said, the vibes and the wonderful community makes this such an enjoyable experience. I'm very grateful to be part of it hope to give back something positive.
Thank you again, Dubi and everyone for giving us this really cool, laid back forum to chill and hang out.
Peace, God bless

Good morning Pandyfackler,
My son and I tried my Honduran x GT over the weekend. He also lives in a legal state, but I think smokes mostly dispensary pot. He's been smoking about 26 or so years, but not daily like myself.

We smoked a joint together and from the look on his face and red eyes, I could tell it was hitting him pretty good. He was suddenly quiet, then he went upstairs. I asked him if he was ok and he said it was just a bit too much. He likened it to stuff he had "back in the day." He told me it had a big creeper effect after about 20 minutes or so. I don't think he fell down the rabbit's hole, but he was pretty quiet and kept to himself for several hours.

We both felt colors, objects, sunny outdoors all seem bright and clearer, but mostly all introverted, very creative high. For me, it also has that wonderful, pleasant feeling that makes you appreciate everything around you, especially nature and enhances awareness of every moment of life itself. I personally enjoy it as much as the Malawi x Honduran.

I hope yours will meet all of your hopes and expectations. I would love to hear your thoughts when you get to try yours.
Peace, God bless

Solarlogos! This sounds wonderful. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me your experience of this hybrid. I really can’t wait to try it now.

You are a super cool dad! I wonder if my son will come and toke with me in the holidays? He’s only 10 right now, so time will tell. Not yet anyway lol

I’ve definitely seen friends feel like they’ve had too much of trippy strains like GT and Zamaldelica. Come to think of it, I’ve gone a toke or two over the line myself from time to time.

One thing I wanted to ask, how did you find the smell and taste of the Honduran x GT?

As always, your eloquent and thoughtful contributions are very much appreciated my friend!

Hey Dubi!

I will be very happy to let you know how these girls turn out. GT is one of my all time favourites, I feel like my perfect outcome for this cross would be a GT that I can toke daily without the temporary lobotomy and some more refined terps. If it turns out half as good as the GTs I have grown, I’ll be happy.

You’re not kidding about filling up the space. Let’s hope that the GT/H stops stretching soon or I’m gonna be in trouble.

They are now 3 weeks 11/13. The TikalxHonduras hasn’t stretched much. GTxHonduras has enough vigor for both of them. I’ve had to tie it down quite a bit, as expected.

I will readjust and tie them down further weekly if necessary. There is little to no heat coming from the light but as the plant gets closer, the spread of light gets very narrow, so the lower I can keep them the more chance they’ll have of getting even lighting.

Hello everyone. Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there!

Here’s another update

They’ve stopped stretching now and the buds are starting to fatten up a bit.

Resin is just starting to show up on these girls. The TikalxH smells very sweet and fruity and the GTxH has more of a woody incense thing happening. Early days obviously, I’m excited to see how the terps develop. Fun times ahead.

Nice job controlling their height, I was worried that might be an issue. I was thinking about your grow the other day and it occurred to me that, as an alternative to tying them down, can you snap the inside of the tall vertical branches (not the woody part) while in flower, like high stress training? I've had plants outdoors that snapped under the weight of the bud, only to have the area heal and the height of the plant was lowered. Can that be done if they get too tall indoors and tying them over wont do the job? Anyone trying it?
Nice you're getting good smells, the flowers look great.
Peace, God bless

I meant to note, I see you also have problems keeping the gnat traps to the stick. Instead of tying them on, try a regular paper stapler and it will run a clean staple through the gnat trap onto the stick. Won't come off after that, quick and easy.:)
Peace, God bless

Looking good! Keep up the good work, and nice cab. I don't think I've posted in here yet but I meant to. :good:

Hiya mate. I have sort of done that a little bit, well, not quite as drastically as you describe but more like a super cropping bend on some of the taller branches so they flop down around 90 degrees. The issue is, I dare not bend them much more than I have through fear of snapping them off altogether, and they recover so quickly that in a day or two they are sticking straight back up again. These plants aren’t phased by a little abuse I suppose. Also, the good thing about bending is that they can be readjusted in increments.

I’ve seen people dwarfing an entire plant in that way before. In particular I’m thinking of a chap who used to be on a now defunct forum from the NE states. He would grow all kinds of smaller plants that were bent at the 5th or 6th internode to make a sort of a leaning brush of a plant. He had it down to a science.

Ah you spotted my makeshift sticky traps. All I could find were big sheets of the stuff so I cut a bunch up. And I wish I had thought of stapling them! Haha next time I will do that. No gnats in my room for a few weeks now so they are just there for a little protection for now.

Thanks for your thoughts Solarlogos! I appreciate your input as always.

Hi Hush.

Thank you so much for your nice comment. I feel like I’m almost through the grind on this round, now to sit back and watch the buds get juicy :smokey:

Being that I’ve been working in the specialist coatings industry on and off for almost a decade now, I had a little downtime at work some months ago and decided to see if I could make a specialised highly diffuse reflective paint with the properties necessary for the grow room environment. After a few tries I have managed to make a paint that is extremely matte, waterproof, washable, sticks to pretty much anything and is so white that it hurts to look at.

So I painted my cabinet interior today which was a sort of light cream colour.

Well damn, I only had enough of my best sample to do one coat on the top 2/3s of the cab, but according to my crap lux metre app on my phone it has increased my lumens by ~15% at the cabinet floor and the spread is now more even. I’ll have to make a decent test batch of this stuff and give it some more rigorous testing.

Greetings my friend. Just wondering how those crosses of your are filling in your grow cabinet.

Hiya mate. Thanks for the nudge. These pics were taken at about 7 weeks 11/13. A bit of deficiency creeping in. I was hoping that this soil had enough food to keep these girls satisfied but it looks like I was wrong about that. Ive since amended with a mix that contains basalt, kelp, krill, neem, gypsum fish meal and ecothrive charge. Hopefully that’ll satiate their hunger for a bit.

Beautiful terps on these girls, especially the TikalxHonduras. She takes after her mum. Fruity peach sherbet bubblegum all the way.

Quick update at week 9 of flowering

picture.php

Plants are showing some deficiency. I let them get hungry for sure. The tikal/H is taking it harder than the GT/H which seems to be quite the trooper. Piling on the amendments but I guess I dropped the ball. Hopefully next run will work out better in that respect.

My first run of no till, from now I’ll make sure the soil is nice and rich with amendments.

The good news is that these plants smell amazing. So much incense and fruitiness in this little cab. It’s really impressive honestly, I can definitely see why dubi has used Honduras as breeding stock so extensively this season.

Hi PandyFackler,

Congrats on your sucessful first sativa grow in your new indoor setup :)
I really like the expressions you are getting from both females..... really nice looking yet tamed sativa flowers of great flower/leaf ratio and strong and interesting central american sativa traits.

Pleased to hear you are impressed with their aromas so far.
Looks like you are not far from maturation. Good luck for the rest of the flowering!

Thanks dubi! I’m so glad that I could finally grow these seeds out. They are bringing back many fond memories of the wonderful genetics that you provided. I can spot the family resemblance both to their parents and each other. They are sisters from another mother. I can definitely understand the allure and rewards of breeding efforts, wish I had more time and space to delve into it.

Here are some budshots from week 10...

This plant will not yield much. She grew quite tame actually, not much stretch. The smell is very much like her mother, a lovely soft, sweet, peachy Tikal, but with a little more woody incense. Not a very loud smell but truly mouthwatering. Probably another week or two and I will Harvest.
