The Orginal Jacks Cleaner

Hello ICMag!! I'm hoping to find more help here than what I found on the internet. Here goes, so once upon a time there was this strain called Jacks Cleaner. From what I've heard of it, Jacks Cleaners lineage is (Pluton x Lambs Bread x Purple Haze x Northern lights) X Jack Herer. The problem I'm having is that somewhere down the line Jacks Cleaner got lost in a pile of back crossing (looking it up only comes up with Jacks cleaner 2, JC Bx, Jack the Ripper, ect.) They are all quite similar, and all come from JC but none of them are the real JC. Just look alikes, so I'm on the strain/breeding sub-forum trying to find possible info on how to grow this hidden gem of a strain correctly and if someone else has possibly grown this strain as well. Any advice is helpful, THANK YOU!

Well you must know the story as how he died , and the name came about, what a way to homer a man , so jack had a strain named after him , good luck finding the real thing but sub cool is your best bet ,

Thanks man, sadly I don't know the story and would love to know what happened to this strain. What I forgot to mention was that I already have the original JC...I am just trying to figure out what happened to the strain, as well as advice on how to cultivate it from other growers who have grown it. (or something similar)

Jacks cleaner was a solid cut.
Haven't had it or seen it around in quite a few years.
Her limonen profile was off the hook.
Have you grown it? or do you know what happened to the strain? and agreed, the one I have flowering right now in my grow room is making my entire room smell like lemon zest. :woohoo:

I've always wondered what the pluton was in the jacks cleaner. Always sounded like a dank cut.

Subcool is the man.

I had lifesaver by BOG and part of its strain is jack's cleaners/vc blueberry/bogbubble

Very strong strain.I've been interested in Sub's strain for a long time.

When you say Sub's strain do you mean signature strain? and is that jacks cleaner? or do you mean "sub's strains"??? not trying to correct, just trying to get the correct info. Thanks! :biglaugh::watchplant:

I've run her in the past.
Wish I still had her! Some of the best tasting herb.
You're a lucky man if you really have her.

And sub cool worked JC, into a lot of his gear.

lol.. oh how time flies

Jack's Cleaner is a strain Subcool made in Fla in the early internet Overgrow years...

It was "the cleaner" x Jack Herer....

The Cleaner was found from seeds from founding Overgrow.com member SKOOSH. The "cleaner" was a purported hybrid of all kinds of random stuff from the 80s. No real clear lineage just what was supposedly in it. Some of those were the ones you listed ((Pluton x Lambs Bread x Purple Haze x Northern lights))

Sub crossed it with Jack Herer seeds he brought back from amsterdam.

Sub had his issues and it was held/preserved by Stony Pony and redistributed back around 2006.

I grew it years ago, but found it to be not as good as a proper Jack Herer pheno. It's a pretty easy plant to grow but has some odd characteristics. The Original Jacks Cleaner clone grow small green seeds in the buds, not from pollination. They never mature, and are like enlarged embryos. If you keep Ca/Nitrate levels high at the end of flower it will also throw some big blaster bananas from the tops. If you mess with those, they can drop pollen. Otherwise, its a stinky pretty plant that one todays concentrate market would likely be popular. As buds, it wasn't particularly due to the little green beans.

No clue. Jacks Cleaner, Elvis, Triangle Kush, and a handful of others possess this trait, or similar characteristics of "enlarged" embryos. I think it's just a plant's environmental response to being flowered and not pollinated, grown indoors, under artificial lighting, etc etc.

Well now , this is all new news to me , as I remember , years ago , jack was a friend of a grower who came across this plant and made cuts of it , his friend found him dead in his apartment , and kept the cut and named it after him , jack , can't remover where the cleaner part derived from , might ask subcool , too many daze have gone by , but it is a memorial strain , wantaknow

Thank you so much! (To everyone, but this post happened to hold the most valuable information) I had no idea about the transfer of owners back in 2006 I'll look into that and see if i can find anything. I also did not know about the Ca/Nit additive problem and those "disabilities" in the strain will probably save my harvest! I'm only 26 days into flowering and this thing is a beast in the smell category! Again thanks for the help.

I was running the true Jacks just a couple years back...still.

I loved the flavor, the crazy frost on her - but she really was such a very sensitive plant. Root bound? Over water? Too much nitrogen? High temps? Too close to the light?

ANY of those would send her into a spiral of nanners. I usually didn't mind because she was so frosty the pollen never traveled. I also NEVER found seeds in her that were mature.

I had always chalked that up to a late pollen release after being stressed but not having time for the seeds to actually mature before chop...I had never considered it from the perspective ThaDocta just stated. Interesting for sure.

I thought I had pictures of her still from a SOG run in 1/2 gallon pots that I pulled a tad bit early...but I can't seem to find them now.

Haven't tasted her yet...but am going to try to get a vaporizer to enhance those flavors! I recently tried Jack the Ripper (top 5) and fell in love with the strain then realized its lineage was JC and got extremely excited!

Haha, she is a little bit of a snob when it comes to treating her right  When I first put her into flower she just randomly started freaking out...leaves turning yellow than brown at the tips, leaves dying, ect. The problem was I changed nothing in the cycle, same nutes, pot, ect. The only thing that changed was the light cycle (and mh to hps) luckily I don't have to worry about her being root bound, or over watered because I'm running in coco so I water 2 times a day and shes happy even if she is a little bound to the pot. I stuck a blue light right above her to reduce stretching and increase terpene production and she SMEEELLS! Kinda like the acidic smell of a citrus bathroom/utility cleaner, though that may not sound appetizing...it definitely is.:canabis:
