I'm not talking about having faith or not having faith in people though. I'm talking about self sufficiency. You could trust everyone in the world but if something cut you off from them then what do you do? Do you just sit there and twiddle your thumbs and wait for someone to come along or do you do for yourself?
The issue I find in the story at hand (the distance of the light from the plants) shouldn't be a problem someone, with even just one grow under their belt, needs to have faith in anyone else in order to resolve. I'm not suggesting anything contrary to having faith in people. I'm just saying how a person grow's his plants, in his home, at his risk should be something he should have faith only in himself to do.
