ebay led lights

Sry i kinda rushed through laying that down..probablely cus my stuff got Taken a while ago (3months ago?) and so growing has Stopped
Nice they didnt take the expensive leds though....

My leds and i expect most/ALL? Gave 8-9? light Spectrums which is ideal for the plant not (some) wasted light as hps-mh?gives - this light feeds the plant somewhat
Bleaching IS a problem in VEG cus the Plant WONT fucking crow Correctly!! lol.....
IN Flower those "bits" can taste sweet
best to not have bleaching tho

No need for any Offense...

(BTW these are uk growers ive known for quite a while)

thats what i thought u were saying if bleaching during veg is happening then you gotta raise it up or use potentiometers to dim it down till they are acclimated to that light. i normally give it a week.

for veg your only needing 300 -500 par, id be willing to bet your right near 800-1k + just by going off what ur saying.
no offence was taken, words dont always get read how were meaning them to sound.

I'm not saying its better because someone would pay 2x, its just one of the many funny reactions you get, people really do freak out a bit when you show them an all white bud.

I cannot tell the difference in smoke quality between the white or green buds. They taste and smoke the same to me. I have a few all white tipped buds curing for the last 9 months and will smoke that side by side to the green when I get to the rest of that jar--I only smoke a little every once in awhile since I don't have nicely cured buds at the moment.

I'm all about the highest quality bud possible. I grow bud to smoke, not to sell. It is my medicine and I am on the quest to make sure it is the best it can possibly be. I only get bleaching in the middle to end of flower and have no problem letting them get whitened up. I still try and keep the light the recommended distance of 18" but at 6-12" to the occasional cola and you should be fine with a little tip bleaching unless your light is very concentrated.

I used to think of it as an issue, but the plants tend to produce better overall by being in the brighter range I noticed, so I let a few colas get a little too close in order to get a lot more vegetation closer to the light. As long as the colas are not under the center of the DS400 or GrowBlu 240 they will not bleach too bad, as those are the brightest part of the lights. Off to the side is usually fine. Under the DS100's, I have 4 spread out to cover the same area as the DS400 and those do not have the power to bleach very much since there is only 50 diodes each and not 200.

I've never had any problems in veg but don't usually use all my flower LED's for veg. I have another tent with less watts, as they can veg very well using half power, even cheap generic ebay LED's can do alright in veg.

These are the nugs I was talking about, when they went into cure, I'll take another photo of the buds now that they've sat for 9 months. The thc is all brown and smokes amazing.

Phychotron, let me say to you: you are great ;-) ! Half gallon pot (2lt ?), coco and leds, will be my next grow. Do you watering all the day ? I was thinking to watering 3-4 times (1-2 minutes) for day. Only i'll use a cheap led panel 450w nominal for 150 leds (but only 150w consumption misured by me !) in a 60x60cm tent. Could you show us your implant ? Do you use drain to waste ?

Yep raise it up "that was the done thing" then no prob normal growth resumed (i think)
when there well into flower some strains you can have real near the (less heat) lights
On that link this is shown by Dirk Diggla and the Chemmy jones.
Some Strains bleach like ma man here ^ shows
Trial & error a happy (height) can be reached.

I know this (re: links) IF you damaged them Through Excessive LED Light (bar/not! bleaching)
They take ages and ages too repair..if they would, and i s'pose they would but not for a LONG TIME...

You can check out my setup on the growery, http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/722233/page/1

The half gallon pots were watered with two Blumat autowatering valves. They open when the medium needs water, close when it doesn't. The Blumats would open up soon after the lights came on, and would shut off at the end of the day, pretty much just doing a constant slow drip that the plant constantly uptook. The roots grew thick matted bumps about an inch high to reach the drip source.

I don't go full drain to waste now but its set up like that. I use 5 gallon pots and a shower ring to water and will just water till its saturated. Small pots are harder to manage and require water more often, so I go with the 5gal (also for plant size) to not have to water constantly. Right now I have it set to water for 1 minute per 12 hours, but now toward the end its to much and I need to reset my timer to water less. I need a cyclestat to run it, not a timer.

I will flush before PK week and before harvest, but sometimes skip the first one and will just feed it light or plain water occasionally till the end. Canna nutrients are very good with coco, flush easily and hold up well in a tank. The plants really like the stuff as well.

Hi Sam.. Yes Happy Some Strains do/grow better under them than others. With the High Powered units anyway and even with the lights 6'+ away you MUST make sure you have a good root System before hand otherwise the L.E.D light/FOOD will fry and Crinkle up the Small Plant and what roots it has will cease to grow.I think 18" is about adequate but a guy's work ive Observed left them to a little over 2' (sure) before he Changed the light to LED.. I think the Yield was roughly the same i know the Chem d does well under them although the taste was Quite different..One of my Faves The blue Meanie gave much Harder Buds i found ..Back ltr with links 4am ish here.. :smoke:

Good day SPG, thank you for your feedback regarding the Mars II. I am considering purchasing 2 of the 900 watt units w/ 5 watt diodes drawing somewhere between 400-450 actual watts per unit. I would be placing them on a 360 light mover in combination with HPS and MH.

Those "baby swings" that use a couple D batteries make excellent light movers.

@ loollo. Sweet looking DIY.
Can we see the business end?
I'll show you mine. :D

So a quick break down of my own cost analysis with cheap fixtures (Blackstar, 1yr warranty) Vs. good Fixtures (Advanced/GrowBlu, 3yr warranty)

I got the GrowBlu Apollo 240x3w (500w) for $950 delivered. The Blackstar 240-HO (130w) were ~$280. To match watt for watt it will take four Blackstars, totalling $1120.

Straight up watt for watt its more expensive, but wait there's more. Because of the cheap diodes they do not produce as much light as possible, those lower quality fixtures' watts do not equal higher quality fixtures' watts. I would say that it takes a few weeks longer in flower and buds that are not as dense with the cheap fixtures. They just DO NOT HAVE THE FLOWER POWER. Costing every harvest in bud loss and added time.

Now when they break, which three out of four of my Blackstar's are now running on half of their diodes because one diode in the series is out. I tested them and its not the drivers. Gotham Hydro, importers of Blackstar, said "oh, 2 years on the light, sounds like a good run and time to upgrade LED boards for $75."

Thats $1120 for the first two years, plus $300 in bulbs every two years after that (assuming your drivers and everything else holds up) <10000 hours light with problems and hard to fix.

The GrowBlu at $950 and guaranteed for three years. ~15,000 before any added cost, cheaper to fix because its modular, i.e buy a spare module when one goes out, fix the one you replaced and have it ready for next time.

I've tried to open a cheap LED to replace a single diode but its hard as fuck, ended up breaking the damn thing--the reason Blackstar sells you the whole diode panel.

Generic and lower priced fixtures use lower priced diodes that run hotter, take more electricity, produce less light per watt and thus have a lower life span. They have little or no heat sink, further driving up electricity cost while lowering efficiency, brightness and life span. Then on top of that the cheaper drivers that under power the diodes to counter act those flaws to help protect the diodes through the warranty period.

Cheap shit is not worth it!

I bought the blackstar 480w V2.0, it pulls 305 from the wall. It is a modular design. No lenses just reflectors and has a 3 year warranty. Just saying. Ive pulled two rounds from under it and am very happy with the results.

They've changed a bit, but after they showed their colors I refuse to try another one of their fixtures. Can you show some photos of the bud?

This is background and conclusion to original post.

I had to open a case against the seller, because one of the fans was broken on the light when I received it, and the seller made me wait 8 days to get a new fan shipped from China, so I could fix it.

Any normal seller (non-ebay), in the US, would have shipped me a new item and paid for return shipping on the broken product. It's then I realized I was not in Kansas any more.

It's while I was waiting for the fan to arrive that I bought the voltmeter (25 dollars on Amazon) to test this light with. I have 5 other led lights that I tested, and they were all using around 60 percent of the claimed wattage, where this one was around 30 percent.

I'd have never known the difference if that fan had not been delayed. I assumed the seller was legit, they had around 1000 good reviews, except for a single 1 start review, where the customer claimed the lights were half the suggested power. I should have paid more attention to that one!

My 1st grow - and with led's. Should be harvesting in 2 weeks. The colas look a little sad, but it's been a real experience. Starting with mites from the clones I bought, temperatures in the mid 90's, ebay sellers, zero definitive sources on anything. Every google search I'd do on growing this stuff, seems like I'd get conflicting opinions on practically everything.

Just got this message from ebay:

"Good news! We let the seller know the item wasn't as described, and the seller issued you a full refund. This case is now closed."
