Any guesses on this leaf symptom?

Hey, i know i'm in the minority, but i have had so much cal/mag over the years i'm almost a self anointed expert on it. you DO NOT have a deficiency. unless most of the leaves at the bottom of your plant are yellow it's not mag. and unless it started at the top fan leaves and worked it's way down it's not calcium but rather your ph is out of range or your EC is too high as the meter guys say or you're giving them more food than they can dispose of.

thats the only reason you should see those symptoms without first seeing either yellowing leaves or it starting at the top (newest growth) and working its way down as micro deficiencies occur.
look at the brain on this guy. I DO BELIEVE YOU ARE CORRECT. Heres a side by side of the new ph meter (yellow) and the old (white). THis is after i brough it up from a mid 4 ph.

Ive been having this problem the last 3-4 grows ive done (and theyve all been adjusted with the old ph pen). Looks like ive been WAY LOW on ph.

It sounds like you need to get some calibration solution for your meter. They need to be checked frequently, and many recommend every time that they are used.

Definitely. The old one was a pricey one and ive tried to cal it a couple of times. Wish i wouldve done this a year ago.

Get some pH testing drops from any hydro, aquarium/pet fish store, home despot, ,etc.
Better than nothing and will hold you over. Its all I use when I do decide to test pH. Best of luck!

Thanks bud. I shouldve got a backup testing method a long time ago.

I think the CA/MG wouldn't hurt, I'd recommend using 30 MLs in a five gallon bucket of zero PPM RO, lil less if your using high ppm tap. Of course this is just what I would do Im not trying to tell you what to do.
Nice to meet ya!

I feel my problem is definately a ph issue after retesting yesterday with a new ph meter. I didnt think it was a cal/mag issue as ive been giving nutrients that has them listed as ingredients. I do RO so a little woundnt hurt anyways, Thanks Dan.

Ive come to the conclusion i was dealing with both high ppms and ph imbalance. Hera are a few picks from last week, Im determined to get a grow in where my fans stay intact and don't die like this. Got Blue Widow in waiting so hopefully it will go more smoothly. We'll see.

I'm glad your not telling him what to do because the last thing you need is ca/mg in a high ppm water. And 30 ml in a 5 gal bucket is more than 5 ml a gal. Way too much already. I'm not to familiar with using jacks but I know I think LSWM and some other vets do supplement with cal nitrate. From the looks of your leaves looks like you pushed them pretty hard they look a little crispy. I think your giving enough nutes get that ph in range I would do a half strength nute watering at 5.7ph and slowly work your ppms up and.let your ph drift up to the low 6's. Just my 2 cents a vet using jacks will no doubt chime in soon.

STI hit the nail right on the head with his last post.

Also when you got some cash get a legit combo meter like a hannah or blulab. So much better in my op. Those handheld ones are so annoying. I use the drops/color test to make sure my meters on point... drops always on point just won't give you a number reading just a feel for the pH range. Also 4.0 solution in your ph pen cap at all times helps keep it calibrated...4.0=storing solution.

Thanks for the advice DONAJ. i DO need to get a better combo meter. That would be the tits. I'll get er figured out. :) Happy Sunday everyone! May your plants stay healthy.

Not sure if you've ever heard of that guy HeathRobinson...but he used to always say everyone overfeeds. Ever since seeing his threads I stick to a max of 600-800ppm total. Seems like there are less issues and the plants are just as vigorous.

I start small plants at 300ppm and eventually make it to 600ppm in flower then try to keep it there.
Nutrients are far from the most important factor anyway. Light is probably going to be your limiting aspect. Then get the environment dialed in, perfect temperatures and humidity. These are all more important than the nutrients in regards to yield.

I liked your previous post alot ODB ! 800ppm is max for me too

But I have to disagree with this post above. I think nutrients are very important !

I think everything is equally important they all make a huge diff !

lights are more important than nutes in respect to things being things.

no point in having 800ppms in your nutes if the lights aren't strong enough to use it.

I feel this to a certain degree but I just think that everything is equally important :D

Regardless of lights whether there my cheap ass fluorescent lights to my digital 600w to my 1000w

There getting 1.2 ec if its too much than ill go down to 1.0ec. So usually all my ladies are getting pretty constant ec/ppm

but thats just me STI Obviously like you said if they arent using the nutrients than back off
