I did use Cutting Edge Solutions SourDee during this run, although I don't think it made much of a difference. I usually like to run their Uncle John's Blend but got a small sample and wanted to try it out.

When I'm mixing 100 things in my reservoir who knows what it was. Heat might have been a consideration, but it was rather temperate this summer and my Blockbuster 6" does a good job maxing out that 3x3 tent and allowing plants to grow right up into it.

With the cooler winter temperatures I'll be running an open air Econowing with this run. Temps have been high 70s and low 80s right now and they should come down through November and December to allow this.

Next summer I want to rebuild, use a 4x8 Gorilla Tent and grab a pair of 1000w Gavita DE E-series. But life has a way of fucking with my announced plans.

What does Uncle johns Blend do? is it like a sweet product or just some miracle in a bottle?

Uncle johns blend is a K boost. As for the sweet type products, all they are is sugar mixed with water.
Depending on which product, no they're not. Most have other things. Even Botanicare Sweet has Epsom. How can you make a blanket statement like that covering all sugar additives. And the kind of sugar matters.

Great crop. Massive buds.-granger

Guess I could have been more specific. But for the most part that is basically what they are. I dont use them. Sorry if I misled anybody. Unsulphered molasses is what I use. I start it after stretch and use it the whole way thru flush at like 1tbsp per 5 gallons. From what I understand, people use it the whole grow. I dont feel thats necessary. So again sorry if I misled anyone it wasnt my intention. Just an opinion I guess.

Just back from Reno, what a cesspool! Plants were dry as fuck when I got home last night after a major heat wave over the weekend that drove my tent temperatures over 90f. They don't look too pissed off... but I'm sure the stomata have shut down to keep themselves alive until shit down here straightens out.

What does Uncle johns Blend do? is it like a sweet product or just some miracle in a bottle?

Uncle John's Blend is a resin enhancer, very similar to products like Snow Storm Ultra. I spoke with CES at a trade show this summer, thanked Uncle John himself for the product and tried to pry a little info out of him. I was assuming it had maybe harpin proteins, or triacontanol, but they denied it all.

The results I get from the product are more resinous plants. Typically this is accomplished by inducing some form of stress on the plant to trigger a natural response. Be more fragrant, and more sticky, to increase the chance of reproduction. The caveat here is that stress like this can also trigger hermaphrodism and I've had my fair share of that when working with unstable genetics.

My approach has been to use the product when the plants are healthy and happy. Through the stretch and up to the peak feeding trigger a lot of early trichome development - especially when applied as a foliar spray rather than a root drench. Around mid-bloom is when I stop seeing the noticeable results so I will reduce the frequency to maybe 1x a week for the last 2-3 weeks of feeding to keep them from getting too stressed out. Growth hormones just kind of build up in the plants and they can definitely be over done. Less is more, but every little bit helps.

subbed,

snow crash looking forward to learning from you :) hopefully get a few pointers :)

I'll do what I can. Glad to have you around Green!

Thanks snow. profile says 7-8 week flower and its looking like its about dead on. Im on day 46 now. They got their last feed today. Tomorrow starts flush.

Does resin increase the chance of reproduction? It would seem like pollen would get stuck and trapped, but not increase chances of pollenation. Thought it was to piss off the bugs.

It certainly does increase the chance of reproduction, because pollen grains that become trapped are used for reproduction.
Increased resin production also functions to deter insects and reflect/scatter UV light. Multiple functions.
Isn't evolution grand?

Are you feeding synthetics or organics? With synthetics that is too much carbs honestly. Feed the carbs with your teas and maybe a liht dose with a clear water afterwords if you do a clear water. Tons of carbs in with synthetics kind of tend to gum shit up. NOt bad or anything, but if that is the case try backing off on them and it might be good. Again I'm not saying it won't work, but it's worth trying it in there just every couple weeks with your teas. You might find you get more of a bump from it applied right when it is most useful.

Also off topic, but I see it a lot, if you feed synthetics and want to mix organics in, it's awesome, you just have to be patient with organics, I see a lot of people feed a bomby tea, not see an instant result, feed salts and then wonder why shit goes crooked. You kind of have to wait out the biology, it takes a minute and is sort of an accumulation thing, it also needs to be balanced with the salts, if you have salt buildup, your biology is gonna be less awesome' than if you had a good runoff ec. Don't know if it's the salts or the chelates, or what, but synthetics slow down organics.

I feed synthetics. General hydroponics micro and bloom. Thats it. Little silica here and there til stretch is over and son dripclean sometimes...but thats it.

So, I know I'm running a little behind. Finally picked up all the nutrients today. The bulb and the Ready Gro will be here next week.

I'm cloning tonight. Should have a good update with some photos soon. Sorry for the delays everyone!

Whats the deal with the blinds? Im curious, does it reflect light back well?

sorry i missed this dude ....

yes the blinds are for keeping the lights tight to the tray instead of spread out all over the room . they worked pretty well . to work on the plants ya just pull the blinds up to the ceiling , do what ya gotta do & then drop them back down .
