@ shawkmon: Missy is the alpha. She views Cricket as her puppy. If you're confused, check out the My Dog Spike thread. All the dogs get along, it's just Missy's protectiveness of Cricket that is a road block to total integration. It's been a month because we aren't rushing things. We feel like we are pretty in tune with our pups and are committed to easing into a workable situation.

@ S4L: Along that vein ~ We took Missy and Hershey out back together today. I told the missus what you said and she pulled the trigger on taking them out together. We were hesitant before because the yard is so huge that if a fight broke out we may have had a long way to go to get to it and we don't run so fast anymore.

It worked out beautifully. Missy chased Hershey around and quickly discovered he was way faster than her. He's fast like she used to be about a thousand cheeseburgers ago (figuratively folks). After a while she started running from him and that worked much better. They had a blast together with no aggression at all. They were ready and it worked!

Good job brah!
When the dander settles I'm betting on Missy as alpha.
You and missus Blazer are next in line.
Then the rest of her pack. :)

She has owned you guys since puppytime.:huggg:

We've been pairing Missy and Hershey and things are going swimmingly. Missy actually did the "hold the bone so Hershey could chew it" like she does with Cricket.

The missus thought to snap a couple of pics:

right on bro, a pack of lovin' pups....... :)

Yeah, it's working out great so far. Only hitch is Missy stills gets a little tense and nervous when Hershey and Cricket try to play with each other. She rushes in and breaks 'em up.

To get around that, we take Hershey and Cricket out to the back yard when they're done, we put Cricket in and bring Missy out.

This morning Cricket was chasing Hershey. Hershey went round and round the pool and Cricket couldn't catch him. She finally gave up. When Missy came out Hershey tried that same trick on her, but Missy is older and wiser. She just stopped and waited for Hershey to come around and body checked his ass. Hershey learns quick because later she did the same thing and so did Missy. This time Hershey broke off wide and put on a burst. Missy missed.

Anyway, Missy is fine with Hershey. Just not playing with Cricket. Eventually, she'll calm down.

We got the grandkids over, so we inflated the air mattresses. Got 'em inflated, turned around and saw this:

A quick update. We had all three out in the back yard together for the first time yesterday.

Integration is complete. All three of them ran their asses off and Hershey played follow the leader by pacing himself so the others could almost keep up with him. We decided he was their personal trainer because he ran them all over the yard chasing him.

Missy still goes over and puts a stop to Cricket and Hershey playing too aggressively with each other. Doesn't stop her from playing aggressively with either of them though.

Lots of slobber and hanging tongues, but no fighting or problems at all.

I think this is going to work after all. I really didn't want another dog, 2 is perfect. But Hershey has become part of our pack now and I love him too.

I said that once & ended up with 3 , one went to the rainbow bridge at 9yr old (kidneys collapsed) and the other 2 got to nr 18yr . Never a day of regret & hell of a lot of tears digging the graves . Would I go through it again ? yes .

Well Missy still has pole position and sleeps between the missus and me. Cricket and Hershey both prefer the bottom of the bed so they each take a side. We are boxed in by puppies.

I can only assume they are happy campers at night from the snoring . . .
