Hey Team Microbe, congrats on the impressive grow. Hopefully you will get a good yield and genetics. This grow has been very informative thread for me, my biggest issue has always been bastid rippers. Anyway good luck with the grow and for future geurilla grows. bc

Thanks BC! I've been ripped for a few years in a row (at least one patch per year) so I started putting a lot more effort in avoiding those scum bags. It's all about avoiding the dreaded path IMO, and going where you don't even want to go in order to find your locations. If you don't wanna go there, nobody else will. Best of luck on your future grows, hit me up for any questions brother. :tiphat:

Well, it's been a pretty interesting couple of weeks. I visited my patch early on during the day last week and I saw two cars near the entrances I use to get to my patches. I thought they were undercovers and got spooked basically, then left and made a thread about it. I returned the other day and they weren't there, and I pretended to harvest and never got followed or anything. I think I'm in the clear, they must have been RR officials or something like that. Still stepping with caution though...

Things are going great down in the swamp. A few strains are almost ready and a few need some more time like the Church. I'm pretty satisfied with the production and quality since these were rootbound in 1/2 gal pots for a few extra weeks and stunted a bit. I can't imagine what next year's going to be like when I get plants out there on time... I'm already prepping raised beds for next season. They'll break down over winter and will turn into humus come next May. Anyways, enough talk here are some of the recent bud shots!

I love this strain. I'll def. be running it next year, but it took me almost an entire pack to find a few keepers. Greenhouse isn't the best quality breeder, but what are ya gonna do. I have another patch that is pollinated by a Purple Rhodi male... I'll be uploading pictures of that soon. I'm almost as excited about those beans as I am about these buds!

I hope everyone's being safe out there this month, hopefully this rain stays at bay and we can get out of our patches alive and well in the next couple weeks... stay up folks!

That church looks sweet!!! I have found that GHS is good for strains that finish outside, and grow nice plants. Really diggin' their great white shark, and white widow this year. Prolly gonna order a few variety packs for next spring , and see how mny of their fast finishing strains I can grow next year.

Thanks bro! Yeah I'm not looking forward to trimming either... it's funny because we always forget the work isn't done even though it feels like it is. Hope you have some helpers!

Thanks man, I'm surprised how well the Church did actually.. I only had 9 keepers out of 20 beans. I'm ordering more beans asap and finding a keeper pheno to mother before the winter sets in. I'm gonna be running a LOT of Church next year. Insane yield, and 0 mold. I couldn't believe it lol

great pics man, hope it keeps going well for you :)

Gracias, I just harvested so all is well on this end! Speaking of...

success.

success.

Well, I've got a story for you guys. Spark up a bowl and try to imagine yourself in my shoes here for a minute:

It all started with a few shots of JD Honey on a cool Friday afternoon...

I saw rain in the forecast for the weekend and made the decision to go ahead and chop that night. I got there at 5pm, parked in a nature trail parking lot and walked down to the tracks. I did a lap before parking, and no workers were on the tracks. Coast was clear as the night was. I had the moon to help me out as well, which was a bonus.

Anyways, I got there on foot and hit the patch. All was well, no signs of anyone else being there. I made the decision to not bring the game trail out and monitor activity because I wanted to cut down my visit numbers. I began my usual hike down the tracks. There are some houses who's backyards run up against the woodlands that border the tracks, and I've never seen anyone out there before... but a man was down in the brush walking around. I froze for a second after spotting him, and continued acting normal as I eyed him like a hawk out of my peripheral. I don't know what he was doing... but I began to question my freedom from that moment forward. I thought, "there's no way they would let me see them if they were staking this out". Then I thought, "what if he was just playing it cool after being seen?"

My mind starts to race....

I continue hiking towards the patch.

I wasn't sure if I should still harvest, or who that man was... but I had to walk back that way with my harvest to get to my car. Fuck it, I wanted to plant here next season so in a weird way I wanted to see if I'd get caught before investing so much time and energy into another crop at the same location. And as for the random guy in the woods... I figured I'd just chop everything slowly, and if it were only a home owner he'd be long gone by the time I made the 2 mile hike back to the roadside.
I trimmed down everything at sunset, and went around again to bag em up. I started out cool and collected, but as it got darker I felt myself rushing more and more I feel like... a bit of bush panic I think. I didn't like the fact that I could no longer see if anyone was nearby anymore. The headlamp comes out...
I wrap everything up in plant ties depending on strain and make a knot in the bag before slinging it over my shoulder to head back out. I make my way back through the swamp after missing my main trail back over the stream... I couldn't see a thing out there and everything looks the same once the light goes down. I found the tree though, and crossed.

Right before I made it out of the swamp and into the woods, I hear the sound of a cop car start it's siren up in the distance. Are you fucking kidding me.

"Here we go... I saw this shit coming" I said to myself. It wasn't close enough yet to be a threat, and I wasn't sure if it was for me or not... so I tried to remain calm. I made my way back up through the forest and hit the tracks again, but only after taking a break to see if I could hear anything out of the ordinary. Coast was clear, but the siren was slowly getting louder. The roadsides were at least a mile away in each direction at that point, so I knew I had a little bit until I would find out. I continue down the tracks.
A low flying plane pops out over the treeline at this point, and turns towards the tracks. I hunch over, and stop walking... preparing for the worse. It continues to fly away.... not sure if that was anything though. I had doubts about the plane right afterwards, but the siren was still grabbing my attention. I made my way down the tracks, and saw the lights to signal for train right-aways in the distance. That was where my exit point was. The garbage bag stunk at this point, the knot clearly didn't do justice to the terp profiles I was carrying that night. I stashed a 25 gal garbage can in the woods near my exit point though, where I'd seal up the bag of trees with duct tape around the seal on the top.

The siren gets louder suddenly, and I see blue and red flashing lights on the bridge up ahead. I panic and stash the bag in the brush near the edge of the track, and freeze there. 2 cops now are in visual distance of me, one on the bridge overlooking the tracks and one below it driving on the road that swoops underneath it. Both had their lights on, I stay hunched down in the brush. Just as this is happening, the fucking lights for the train crossing go on. BRIGHT RED lights are now blinding me out. I thought, "this is where they ambush and arrest me for cultivation". I saw the one cop drive over the bridge and then stop. I said a prayer and asked for it just to be a traffic stop. I got up and kept walking down the tracks, out of curiosity.
I crept slowly until I got past the lights that were blinding me, and saw that there wasn't anyone waiting beyond them with a net to catch growers with. I continued up the trail and found that the cop on the bridge pulled somebody over, it was indeed a traffic stop. Holy fuck. What about the other cop though? Underneath the bridge? I hadn't seen him yet. I was still on edge... it felt like my heart was going to explode out of my fucking chest. I had a fucked up mind set too at the time because of the whiskey... I had bear mace on my belt in case those assholes came up on me. I was ready to spray them in the face and make a break for it if need be.

Fuck it. This isn't just about my freedom, it's about morals and the difference between right and wrong. Taking my crop and putting me in cuffs... is morally fucked. I don't need to preach that here of all places though, I know that.
Anyways, I walked up to where I was going to drive my car and load up the trunk.. it's like a roadside truck stop type thing. It's where I saw the undercover posted up last time actually.... I figured if I was about to get busted there wasn't much I could do so I might as well have played it out like nothing was going to happen. And my friends, that's exactly what happened. Nothing.

I realized the cops in the area were coincidence, the lights on the track were simply for a train coming through, and the undercovers were probably just Railroad officials doing their job in assigned vehicles from the state. I was home free... I went back for the trash bag full of flowers and found my trashcan in the woods. I popped it in, sealed the top with duct tape and stashed it near the roadside for pick up.
The walk back to my car felt like it took 2 hours.... I couldn't get there quick enough but I didn't want to act weird so I kept walking steady-paced. Got back to the car, and headed over to the roadside where I picked up the garbage can and threw it in my trunk. Popped my headlights back on, and pulled out onto the road. From this point on my only thoughts were "make sure nobody follows you". Nobody did, for the most part. One car was for a while but then I pulled over and turned around, entering the main highway from a different road. Coast was clear all the way home.... and pulling in my driveway resulted in a big evil smile creeping up my face.

I thought "next year, I'm going big."

haha thanks man, I know right? If you're not sore somewhere on your body your'e not workin hard enough :dance013:

Yep! I just went out today to get shovels/machetes/boots for the work load coming up, gonna be digging another 15 holes this month. I'll put 1 bale of promix in each one until spring hits when I'll go mix a homemade charger pack to compost down before transplant day hits next season. I'm gonna experiment with composting as well, for the no-tills I try out on the side. It would be ideal not to have to bring in bales and just plug and play after raking some leaves and plant prunings together to let sit over the winter... we'll see how it works out. Uncharted waters for sure...

I'll be digging a 500 gallon hole for water storage as well, I went out yesterday and grabbed a 10'x12' pond liner I'll be lining it with. I was going to try and haul out a few 300 gallon water tanks (the ones with the metal grid on the outside) but they're 125 lbs a piece. Although I can scoot em down the track on my dolly... it's the mile through the hillside that hurts my back just thinking about
Maybe if I could remove the grate it would be worth it... not sure if I'll be able to though.

Ordered some beans today too! My buddy in my area had a lot of success with Blueberry Headband so I went with that and Cheese Candy (an old favorite of mine). I'm gonna flower them out and keep cuttings to choose a few keepers to mother before spring hits. Gonna take so many cuttings off of those mamas... I can't wait. I'm also gonna pheno hunt & test the beans I bred outside this year; I'm really excited about the Church x Purple Rhodi's.

picture.php

One is fucking massive... it looks really promising. We'll see how stable they turn out to be though. It'd be really nice to have an huge supply of beans that end up working out for my area... beans being so expensive and all. I'm gonna grab a pack of Church as well in a few weeks, that'll be my insurance strain since it did so well this year. Blue Widow may be ran again too. I can't wait to clear some brush and find a few new gems on that hillside... I might make a thread on the pre-season prep to inspire others to do the same. I sure wish I did this last year, I'll tell ya that. Would never have gotten such a late start in July!

How are things lookin over on your end Gemini?? Any work load lately? Or have you been busy trimming for the most part

What's up man! Nothing much out here .... only got a few medium girls and a few smalls .... bunch of bumps this season that threw it all off.
I'll be chopping the lates this weekend and next.

Once their all out I'll be prepping mounds and holes... going to till top few inches ....thick layer of peat and leaves ... 5gal worth of coffee grounds .... mix native and peat to compost all winter.... bring in some manure and couple bales of peat in the spring inoculate and let cook some more till late May plantings

Are you going to compost down local leaf litter from around the woods of your plots?

Don't bother carrying those tanks out ... check out water storage bladders ... heavy duty fold up to fit in a duffle bag ... 25gal-3000gal + ..... water-storage-containers.com ...I'd get the rain water storage pillows//tanks... much more discrete to carry in and you can fold it up and take it out easy at the end of season to minimize waste/equipment out during the off season ... could easily be partially hurried with brush and debris covering the top

I'm just gonna compost my mounds all winter .... top dress and inoculate in the spring .... gonna be setting up irrigation for 10day intervals .... you running irrigation with your storage tanks or just easier to water from hose than carrying jugs?
