I typically will pull out the root ball and shake loose the remaining coco by turning them inside out and giving the a couple of good whaks. Kind of like a dirty rug.

Then I just toss them in the wash. Sometimes that salty ring of residue sticks around and I don't like to use detergents or anything. I just set it to the super hot temperature (sanitary setting I think) and wash them on the extra dirty setting.

I recently did a run using CYCO nutrients and drip clean with my containers and I have never seen them so clean at the end of a grow. That Drip Clean really does keep the precipitates down. But the quality was WAY off, so I probably won't do that exactly the same again. I don't blame the Cyco alone, but it's hard to imagine what else could be the cause.

I don't buy that dc can lower quality. dc is watered down peKacid 0-60-20. We use .4-1ml/gallon. In some agriculture they run it as the base nute and add N. How has your lettuce tasted lately:biggrin:

I don't know if I'm a snob or what, but it just tastes like burning death. I mean, it's skunky and weedy, but it just has this funky carbon flavor. There were a lot of variables to consider though. I used Mighty Wash kind of late, I used basically F1 bag seeds from previous run (questionable genetics). I'm not writing them off... but I was certainly unimpressed with the quality of the final product. There was no overfeeding, and the flush was a solid 14 days on a 70 day cycle.

On another note I was able to sex the plants this weekend. 3 girls and 1 boy (that has been chopped). Now I just wait until I can clone them.

No solid, liquid or aqueous carbon is absorbed by the roots. ALL carbon comes from the air. Maybe rinse yer tongue before you inhale to stop the carbon taste:biggrin:

I don't think I'm saying it "is" carbon. It just tastes like what I imagine chewing a bit of burned wood tastes like. Kind of like burnt toast. It's... I dunno... Ashy, carbony, kind of blech. And it was all the plants. The lemon ones, the berry ones, the cheesey ones. They all have this kind of off-putting flavor. I was really disappointed with that last harvest on everything from yield to quality. The ashes are white and the plants never showed deficiency or burn. I've never seen this before with my Canna or organic programs, even when over feeding Sensi Bloom, but there are too many other variables to pin it on something like Cyco or Drip Clean.

The Springtails probably didn't help either... I dunno. Another day, another strain, and another nutrient program. All will be well in the end.

Usually the enemy of flavor is heat, in an air cooled tent in the summer I'm not terribly surprised it wasn't juicy and delicious. I find my friends that are running air cooled tents are living in flavor country when the weather permits (this next run) but summer is not there jam.

Did u use any sweetners crash?

I did use Cutting Edge Solutions SourDee during this run, although I don't think it made much of a difference. I usually like to run their Uncle John's Blend but got a small sample and wanted to try it out.

When I'm mixing 100 things in my reservoir who knows what it was. Heat might have been a consideration, but it was rather temperate this summer and my Blockbuster 6" does a good job maxing out that 3x3 tent and allowing plants to grow right up into it.

With the cooler winter temperatures I'll be running an open air Econowing with this run. Temps have been high 70s and low 80s right now and they should come down through November and December to allow this.

Next summer I want to rebuild, use a 4x8 Gorilla Tent and grab a pair of 1000w Gavita DE E-series. But life has a way of fucking with my announced plans.

Snowcrash you alive brother?

Barely, I picked up a little bit of a cold. Shit is crushing me.

I'm headed out of town this weekend. Will water them Friday morning (really, that's mid-day for the light cycle) and won't be back until Sunday night (their AM) to water again. They are at a point now where I can clone them, but with the vacation trip coming up I won't be able to care for fresh cuttings.

Cloning will go down on Monday 10/6. Until then.
