You guys are making me noivious fo sure!

I haven't had any problems with my room as far as plant issues. I have had the head unit start dripping water in the flower room before however. This caused some mold on the plastic louvers. It was because the tray was clogged before the drainage tube.

making you envious...huh?
it should be the other way around! :D

i was looking at the link to BBJ and other HVAC suppliers last nite and seems like mold and mini's may go hand in hand more than i thought
by the products available to deal with these issues

This thread really got me thinking about a few things, one is that UVC is probably super useful to us, the other for me at least, is that mechanical filtration in a sealed environment is important. I just added a 8" fan pulling on a 20x20 hepa filter to the peak of my room, the difference was staggering, you can tell when you breathe in there how much cleaner the air is.

Is UVC okay for us to use? I would be very interested in anyones input on it. I am thinking of a adding a light to the hepa filter and one on the air handler.

Just recently I've been looking at UV-C purification units. You can't have uncovered UV-C, because of the cancer risk, but there are a lot of units where the air circulates thru a chamber where it is disinfected. There's one for about 75 bucks that does 575 cu ft/hour. Seems to me that after 24 hours or so my sealed 580 cu.ft. room would start getting pretty free of pathogens. I need to do a lot more research and shopping before I buy, but I'd like one for my Grow room and 1 for my drying room.

There are UV-C lamps that have possibilities for adding to other devices. Keep in mind that you do not want to be exposed to it at all. I'll report back when I start reaching conclusions. -granger

^^ yup, those lamps are bad for your skin and eyes.
depends on how large the bulbs is and at what distance.
Ive seen them in some places using a 6-8inch UVC flouro out in the open, but mounted 7ft up a wall

I think getting a few of these for the room is in the works for me too.
mount em at the intakes of the mini or at nite on the exhaust of my 2 dehueys.
as long as you have air passin over em your killing baddies.
$75 doesn't sound bad for that unit Granger

just watched a monster garden vid on BIG BLUE OZONE GENERATER, gives peeps a good insight into uses and dangers. I did have a Canadian one years ago I used to have it above outside door or in next room for escaping skunks on a timer, seemed to work could smell the clean ozone smell. dangerous stuff, can take the smell out of flowers they say. if I had another one it would be for the inside of ducting. my 2 cents.

Oz ones cool and has it's uses but this is uvc that we are talking about. Ozone generators use a different kind of uv. The uvc produces no ozone but does kill all pathogens spores ans other nonsense. It presents it's own ers though in that it is super dangerous to get on your skin. As long as it's in recirculating ducting your golden though, full on 100% clean room for our application. I'm all about this stuff now, gonna add it for sure, super happy with the hepa filtration also, air is visibly cleaner.

Best thing about this thread is it got me thinking about this shit before it went wrong. Did some potting and kicked up dust, even with a helper filter I noticed it jammed up the screens on my mini. Thanks dude, I like getting in front of things.

hope my exp would help others out and looks like it has :)
when i did the potting in my room i was very aware of the dust so i wet the soli down a bit, not soaking wet because it's a hassle to work with.
but I did notice a little bit of dust was going up but didn't think it would be enuff to cause a prob.....wrong!

posted in another thread:

came here to update everyone on my situation... the temps kept rising so i went watched a video on how to clean the coils and fan motor. they were just squirting water in there.

so i looked at mine --- what i thought was ice was actually dried putty that had accumulated when sanding unfinished drywall

SO i took a hose with full pressure shot it up into the fan motor and coils... A TON OF SHIT CAME OUT. just flooded on the floor (pond lined) and sucked it up with a shop vac... i turn all 6 flights on super lumen and i wake up to 70*f

lesson learned... but at least i can sleep

I bought one of these, checked it out and ordered a second. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G2BESO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Spent a lot of time reading the reviews, especially the bad ones. Always a percentage that are unhappy because they got a defective unit. Very common if you read reviews of online products. Most other complaints were because of the loudness of the fan. One reviewer downgraded it because she wanted white noise and it was too quiet. The first one I got was what I'd call whisper quiet, so I ordered another.

These units go for under $35, free 2 day shipping with Prime. They produce no ozone. The capacity, 456 cu ft/hour, will clean the air in my sealed room about once and hour. They have a dim night light that I taped.

Second one came today. Whisper quiet also. Time will tell if they get louder. I put date on them so I'll know when 6 months are up, time to replace UV-C bulb. If they hold up, methinks it's not much money, well spent. I would recommentd to a friend. Good luck. -granger

nice find granger,
and for $35 makes it even better.
and yeah, i alway pay close attentionthe neg reviews.
when I see the the same prob talked about over and over it's
usually a bad sign,

but i see the silliest neg reviews that make me laugh and make me think some of these peoples elevator don't go to the top floor.....
one i got a kick out of was for a 48"x24" fold up table, and that's how the heading was listed and dimensions were in the specs details also
lady said it was way too small, it looked a lot bigger in the pic...
she though it was going to be a lot bigger than it was.. :whistling:

Well checked my indoor unit last night and yep, got mold growing on it. Anyone figured out a good way to clean it? Is steam cleaner the answer?

On a side note just ordered another Breeze. Yeah chickened out on the self install of a Mitsu...

tc, on the mitsu's, it was a 10 miinute snap to pull the entire tube blower and wash with a hose.
i haven't tried on my breeze yet
3-4wks till blooms over so I'll mess with it then.

tbh
Im kinda spoiled with my breeze plug-n-play minisplit.t
thinking on getting the 12K btu model for my 2000w veg room andrun C02.
I almost did my own install....
but it was cheaper to have it done over getting the
tools/equipment to do it

They make tons of different coil/minisplit cleaning chemicals. Some really god and non toxic ones are available. However you do need to dissasembke your unit and remove the fan, clean it all out. Doing this outside your room is preferable. Steam cleaners are super nice if you have one. If you can't remove or disassemble steam cleaner and a non toxic coil cleaner will be best bet.

Hello everyone!

gnome - I would not recommend spraying your evaporator coil with H2O2. The fins are aluminum and you could risk oxidizing/rotting them away. If you make a habit of it I can promise you they will deteriorate quickly. If you do I would also wash it afterwards thoroughly with plain H2O, which is often a PITA with the wall mounted evaporator... I would suggest the evaporator cleaner that foams and therefore pushes debris OUT. Its also a good idea to hit it with a shop vac if its SUPER caked. This is what you want...

When it comes to sealed rooms, standard split systems are preferable. The reason being airflow over the squirrel cage and limited available pre evaporator coil filtration options. The very problem you are experiencing...
When build up occurs obvious CFM loss occurs. But most growers don't realize how MUCH that effects the performance and efficiency of an A/C system. The evaporator coil will almost always end up freezing which will drastically limit or completely stop all cooling.
Usually a flood occurs (if your condensate drain pan is not clear) after the unit shuts off and the ice melts. This can also result in compressor short cycling which could lead to burnout. Bad news.

IMVHO a standard ducted split system you will not have that problem. The pipe penetration for refrigeration is the same size as a ductless split. Indoor cooling section of unit can be hung from ceiling. Ducting is still optional. And air filtration options are endless...

Also. Cost of equipment for a standard split A/C system is significantly less than ductless splits. Dehumidification ability is slightly higher with the standard split system and can additional dehumidification can be easily added...

Don't be afraid of ductwork. It is easy and a valuable tool. It gives us precise control over movement of air, which is very NICE...

Been running ductless systems for YEARS and none of what you saying has ever happened. Sure the squirrel cage fans can get caked up, but nothing that a once a month cleaning with a brush can't solve.
Any unit will leak if the drain pan is clogged, whats your point? Those of us that run ductless do so out of necessity. And as for dehumidifying, theirs no way your standard system will do a better job than our inverter driven systems. 24/7 i can keep temps within one degree of where it's set, no temperature or humidity swing like a standard system.
Then theirs the noise...
