Cloning struggles - looking for insight

no dome get your ppms with a cloning hormone to less that 500 @ (ecx500) keep the temps around 70 which is ideal and ph to around 6.2-i rock a simple timer for 15 on 15off to keep the water temps down... drop T5's on top. Minimize cut branches exposure to air, place directly in ezcloner with it misting- change water every week. Aqua shield if you get brown roots....slice plant diagonally across the node... few more tricks but i believe thats about it. i have almost a 100% success rate. sometimes roots in 3 days.

IMVHO...

I'v had great results with aero, 100%

Clean everything. STERILE with H202 ( Bleach may leave residue)
Plain, non PH'ed Tap water ( my tap is in the 500's )
Sometimes use a couple mils Pro-tecT & KLN, but not necessary
water temp 76f
T-5
no water change
no dome
heat mat
no Organics (slime)
no added hormones

I take cuts, place in cup of water
when ready I make finale cut
@ node if pos, place in puk, done

Interesting, do you use regular h202 or horticulture grade and do you add the h202 to the water while the plants are in there as well or just before putting the plants in. Care to describe your process more? I was able to get my fogger to work but it still took a week and a half to get a clone to root and into soil. I need to find a way to clone that will work with big tokes bio-bucket design. I'm game for cubes if I have to but I'd like to make an aerocloner/fogger work better for me if possible or else its a NFT style setup with cubes.

Tap water in a plastic cup

What do you think a bubble cloner is anyway?

Funny, couple times ive left a few unrooted cuts in my oxycloner unplugged. Sitting in low light off to the side. Watched as they never died for a few weeks. Was always water in there. So I look inside to see major roots. No bubbles. Nothing. I think its a matter of being patient.

Those were the cuts that never rooted after more than 2 weeks with bubbles and a oxycloner thingy churning the waterr

hey BE, how's the cloning going?
I love cloning threads. I love to see and hear other's methods and suggestions. the main thing I have learned is that ALL cloning methods work.

I have to switch it up all the time. One round I pull nice roots in a bubble cloner, next run I can't clone in a bubbler to save my life.

So I go to rapid rooters, then back to a bubble cloner, then to coco, then to an ez-cloner, then to rooters......

I know, weird, huh?

So this is how I do it.

DIY bubble cloner

Clean it with hot bleach water no measuring bleach either
Just drop a good amount.

Cut clone off a decent mom.

I do not scrape the stem.

Dip It in Clonex gel and trim the leaves.

Now here's the trick stem should be above the water. So the
MOisture make the cutting throw roots.

I like to take the Clonex gel and drop a glob in the bubble
Cloner. The gel will start to bubble and will come up in
Contact with the stem.

This will feed the cutting and promote rooting.

Ph to 6.0

Change out water every three days with tap only.

You want the t chlorine in the tap to kill all bugs.

I had shit results don't give up stick with one method. I
Like the bubbler.

Give it a shot how I run it and wait 14 days.

Root nubs appear quick but can stall if you do not have the right
Level this is key and lots of bubbles.

I use a 1/4 in soaker hose with 1/4 fitting and make a grid
Along the bottom of my container. Use a commercial air
Pump not those crappy little air pumps

This is from clone. Should I be patient and wait to see if she fattens up more ? Its going to bubble bags regardless ...

Lately what works for me is dipping Rockwool cubes in ro water and then taking cuttings, trimming leave tips back then making a diagonal cut and sticking it into the Rockwool cube just to the side of the hole. That way all the stem is touching. No nutes chems nothing. Just water and time. Life has a way of working out.

ya.. I built.. 2 30 site cloners.. used them like a ez cloner.. and tried them as bubble.. once I got them working.. I found a leak.. and gave up at the time.. just didn't have the patience to keep working on the thing.. while I was in need of cuts..

so now.. I don't waste shit for money.. on cloning.. 5-7$ for 72 clones in jiffy pellets.. just add a few mls of rhizotonic.. in the water the pellets soak in..

take clones.. no cutting underwater.. or any of that bullshit..

just me personally. grab a cup.. label the cup.. fill with some cold tap water.. just cut off the branches I want. put directly into the cups.. ill cut until I can fill a dome...

the dome with pellets soaking should be ready in an hour or 2.. so plan accordingly..

u can clip the leaves.. or not... I do only so I can fit the 72 cuts at a time..

and so I can clearly see when they are producing vegetation.. new vegetation usually means they have rooted.. even if u cant see the roots on the outside of the pellets.. but that's usually not a problem..

first 3-5 days.. I leave the dome air holes closed.. lifting it 1-2 times daily..

then open 1 air hole.. for a few days.. other after that.. .. and usually there rooted.

then I prop the top of the dome up.. for a day.. allowing them to get used to not being in such a humid environment..

then pop the top off the following day... and spraying with a foliar spray..

1 day without the top.. and they go into cups..

been having 70-72 root fast nice big healthy root systems..

so for 7$.. of pellets/dome.. Walmart.. and 1$ worth of rhizotonic..

Ive used rapid rooters.. bubble cloners.. aero cloners.. jiffy pellets.. rockwool.. coco.. straight promix bx.. light warrior...

so far . jiffy pellets are the cheapest.. and the most reliable.. without having to clean or bleach.. or worry about the issues being had in this situation.......

KEEP IT SIMPLE.. it will help u in the long run. .. u will realize.. 90% of the shit they sell for growing.. is NOT NESS.. just a way to get people to spend tons of cash.. on BULLSHIT that doesn't make any difference wether its rapid rooters. 50 rooters for 15-20 bucks.. or 72 pellets for 7$.. even cheaper in the off season.. is when I try to buy lots of my shit..

but then again . my boy has been using this website.. to get pallets of soil.. delivered to a storage unit.. and he just uses the storage unit as his store.. lol. brings his used soil there. and picks up new soil.. then just grabs amendments in bulk .. to reamend the soil he used to use in the outdoor garden..

snypes guides to cloning are spot on. he breaks it into unfuckupable steps. its diluted transitional nutes by 1/3 i think or .7 ec. plus .5 ml per gallon super thrive (totally works without but i use it) 2 drops of bleach per gallon (critical imo but he uses less). i dip stem in max dillution rate of dipngrow for five seconds whether i put in aero or rockwool he doesnt. ph 5.5-5.8 works like a charm. ive
never not had this work really well.

I think it's really important to have low light. I have good success with a standard tray w/tall dome, heating pad w/thermostat, and I use 1 2' T-5 high over the dome with a layer of paper towel on top of dome.

Also, if you've got root nubs, that's all you need. Pull them and get them into your medium, and water with light nutes and root stimulator. Leaving them longer risks slime, etc. I can't imagine growing massive long roots like someone pictured. Waste of time, and complicates transplanting. Good luck. -granger
