New grower needs help starting

I add about 20% perlite mixed all together. You can get a 8 week strain veg for a month and there is your 90 days. Are clones an option?

awesome, ill just mix it all together!

yes, clones are an option. I totally forgot. I will check my local dispensaries as they tend to have quite a good selection!!

Autoflowers get lucas formula every watering.

Regular plants can too, but I would start with every other watering. Soilless mix is different than soil, it leans more towards hydro. I can feed every watering without salts building up to the point of affecting the plant, but I have ample runoff, and the plants I grow tend to be hardy nute hogs. They also don't go past 75 days (65ish on average)

Sensitive plants may not like getting fed every watering, especially if you have very little or no run off. Also if you have longer flower times, you are more at risk for salt buildup. Some people feed 1/3 strength nutes every watering, others feed full strength every 3rd watering. And most people just feed every other watering.

I feed every watering and every so often (when I feel like it, or the plants start to claw, or show some random signs which is rare for me) I will use straight water with ample run off. But I have gone full cycles without giving them plain water.

There have been times when I've used the maxibloom powder and did not completely dissolve it. No problems. (with autos, can't remember if regulars also got it, I've used all 3 versions of lucas)

how does the ventech kit perform ? hopefully with the ventech speed controller i can reduce the noise on the 4" booster fan if it gets too loud. Thanks for your input, is good to know the 4" ventech kit will suffice!! :tiphat:

The fan blows really nice, the filter is good quality and comes wrapped with plastic under the foam to keep the carbon fresh make sure you remove it.

With a speed controller you should be okay on the noise, when i kept mine around 50% it was super quiet, but when it got hot i had to ramp it up and it was just too loud for me, i upgraded to a vortex s line, much quieter overall.

And to answer your other questions just put the fan and filter in the tent and have it sucking from the filter and blowing out of the tent, the intake ports on the bottom will suck in inherently due to the air being removed. fans blowing into the tent will create positive pressure, which can hinder heat removal.

I would personally start your first run with clones then switch to seeds if you want, clones are so much easier and if you can get them from a shop you might as well try it your first time, that way you can spend your free time learning about all the other things you need to still figure out :)

thanks. i had originally planned on feeding every other watering because i was worried salt will build up but now ill do it every feeding. feels good knowing the girls will get plenty of nutrients to grow healthy.

Excellent !! I'm glad to hear the set up will work. At first, i was not convinced the setup will perform successfully in controlling the odor, but now im convinced it will. I will keep the vortex s line in mind. Thanks! :)

yes i will definitely keep them inside the tent.
very good information, hopefully once set, heat wont be an issue. im convinced ill be fine, but we will see.

i will keep my eye on some clones. i know of a dispensary that has them ready for 12/12. hopefully they have good genetics!!
yes, i plan on learning more, i have a few books, but there is nothing better than advice from members that have experience!

4' high gives you very little room. Subtract a foot for your container, subtract space for your lamp and space between lamp and plant and you've got very little. You're better off with at least 6' of headroom. Good luck. -granger

If you're doing autos then you might not want to do any LST. You only have a certain amount of time before the plants are done so any LST will require at least a little recovery time that will not allow for maximum growth. A lot of autos have very short growth times and therefore don't get that big, so trying to fill out a scrog might be a waste of time as well. Also, due to the short growth time of some autos, a 3 Gal full of Ocean Forest might take it the whole way through so you might not have to add synthetic nutes. I just got done with Sweet Skunk, Dark Devil, Amnesia XXL and Sugar Black Rose. All of them are autos. I used Roots Organic soil in 2 Gal pots and topdressed lightly with amended soil. They all have their strong points but the Amnesia and Sweet Skunk are my favorite! Probably wouldn't grow the Sugar Black Rose Autos again. Happy growing! Let us know how it turns out.

Also, I agree with the Light Warrior on top idea. If you're just starting out and trying to get the feel of things, let them grow naturally for the first time or two. I wouldn't jump right into max yield techniques without having a regular grow or two under my belt first. But that's just me. Good luck bud!

A common mistake that new growers forget is that anything (especially fabric) that comes out of your grow room will smell strongly. Your nose adapts to the odor but to the general public your hat/backpack etc all absorb the odors. It's good practice to have an outfit that you wear when handling equipment in your grow room that is kept in the grow room (and away from other clothing/washed separately).

In addition to the carbon scrubbers, ONA (Odor Neutralizing Agent) tends to mask odors and smell similar to laundry sheets. Be careful using it around children/pets however, it's a chemical. And I read that certain LEO are trained to sniff out ONA.

I'm not sure what type of reflector you're using, but air-cooled are great because the cold air blows right through them. People don't think that 150w or 400w get hot but they do, especially in a tent. A/C is your friend.

And make sure the wiring is right, this is when it pays to know basic electricity/know somebody you trust with your life who is an electrician. They sell self-deploying fire extinguishers at hydro stores (Flame Defender) which is an "ok" fail-safe to have (provided its presence is secondary to fire prevention measures like wiring).

Good luck with your legal medical grow.

Thanks for your feedback. I highly appreciate it. Unfortunately plans have changed due to a bigger project I began. I will prob start a thread. Any pics of the recently finished lil ladies??

If you want to grow stealthy then you shouldn't use an inline fan, these can be pretty noisy. The right kind of stealthy fans are the fanbox types. These are snail fans in an isolated box and they don't produce a lot of noise. Actually I prefer these.

As for your nutes just try to keep it simple as possible, I know there are tons of products who claim to increase your yield with high percents but in many cases this is just big BS. Instead try to get the perfect climate in your growroom, this will increase your yield.

Just something else I want to say about the soil, it's better to use soil that doesn't contain any fertilizer. You'll start from 0 and you build the pH and EC levels from there. It gives you a wide control of this.

If you're a starter I shouldn't start with a sativa strain, in my opinion these can be pretty hard to grow compared to indica. Yet you have to deal with a longer blooming period, take a strain that blooms pretty fast (within 6-8 weeks).

Just isolate your growroom properly install the fans and filter, you should be safe then. Or simply get a tent, the downside of a tent is it will be a little harder to control the climate because it isn't isolated. Good luck!

Thanks for your excellent suggestions FromHolland.

I agree, proper environment is crucial for achieving superb medicine.

Ill post pics of the new project once im allowed.
