Just dropped a bunch of pollen on my girls this morning. The weather channel says rain late tonight and tomorrow. Do you guys think a full day is enough for the pollen to stick and start the seed process before it gets wet??

Getting wet, after the pollin hits the pistils, helps to "set" the pollin.
Its actually a good thing.
I use that technique all the time.
I let the male dust the girls, then I spray them with a water bottle an hour later and harvest the male,
after taking a cut from him in veg, or collecting pollin if needed.

wow

All what can I say is to I give 100gr of mold for 10Kg of caterpillars.

Its disaster .... Sep 17 but I lose 5% - 10% already .... I never got mold as this ... I miss my little sweet caterpillars !

I thought water made pollen unviable? Whenever i did selective pollination id cover thag branch with a plastic bag after i dusted it and then i soaked everything else down. Never got random seeds and i thought it was bc i soaked them? I know very little about breeding hah.

Thats just what I read some where and Ive done it ever since. When I say set maybe that means whatever was pollinated was pollinated and whats not is not because it got wet? IDK either? LOL

As for Dave and ewsf, he's a salesman. I did a side by side with norcal blend, tom hill mix, and black gold dressed with rainbow mix. The norcal blend did the worst out of all.. Tom hill mix did the best and the rainbow mix was not that far behind the tom hill mix..

I think the writing is on the wall on the EWSF Soil being garbage. Who in the hell recommended that shit to us? Cost many a grower tons of money and lets not even talk about the stress and extra labor just to make it through the season with a sub par crop. I remember when I asked dave if he had a current soil sample on the NorCal blend. When he said "we don't play that game here" that should have been the clue. Bad me.

And I hear you on Dave being a salesman. On another note I have some good soil I am willing to sell. Guaranteed to grow 20 pound monsters. Just set it and forget it. Come back in the fall and $100 bills will be growing on the plant. Anyone Interested? LOLLLLLL

@BF I've used both EWSF & Durham blends and both needed to be heavily amended to grab the specific balance we wanted. Instead of reppin EWSF like you're getting a cut why don't you post your exact blend and avoid all this nonsense. Stake your claim.

Because my exact blend works for my exact farm , one size doesn't fit all. It was already a hassle talking about where I get my soil blended.,any one who wants some one else to do the work for them should find a different industry besides farming.

Ps.. Butte also used the EWSF and extensively ripped their product...kinda funny how when some one tries something and mess it up they pass the blame.

Pshhhh, post your water status and then one farm becomes many. I'll be throwing up garden pics with blend/water/and source as soon as it all comes down.

Tired of hearing the same complaints over and over from the same people. Not much more to say really. We understand ewsf soil did not work for you. Dave won't admit it's the soil, you think it's definitely not your fault. Got it. Now let's move forward please. Or maybe make an EWSF warning thread. I know it sucks and some of you lost money. Turn that into a learning experience +1up your game knowledge slay it next year, or start now indoors for the winter. Lots of respect to everyone, not meaning to piss anyone off. Just getting redundant :deadhorse mixing it yourself is hard work. Rent a bobcat and a box truck mix it yourself next time. I've never fucked up mixing my own that way. I have fucked up trying to use someone else's premixed ....

Respect,

FE

@FE no complaints on my end, just trying to squash. I learned a minute ago that you can't buy a pre-blended mix without your input, shovel, and a tad of fairy dust & science. Hopefully we all figured that out after this year.

I never even heard of moths landing on the plants, laying eggs, and then budworms start burrowing into the stems, until 2 weeks ago.
I really wish I knew this info in July.
It seems we caught it intime though so theres not alot of damage.
We probably lost about an ounce worth of flower so far and after checking every other day after 2x BT sprays we havent seen anything else. TYVM to all who replied to my question.
I learned alot this year so far.

If you spray your place with btk in the fall and spring moths that bring cats aren't really a problem. A few preventative sprays on the plants is cool too.

tom hill blessed me with about 100 monkey haze for next season. Looking forward to it.

Good post. The grower has got to take personal responsibility. Mixes get mentioned because people ask. Then when it doesn't work for them we hear endless whining...pretty soon you don't even feel like helping. Wonder why people disappear from the thread
