Nep Jam Outdoor

After growing many different bag seeds over the last few years I have finally decided to get some premium gear. I've been lurking the Ace Seeds forum for quite some time now and decided I wanted to grow some Nepalese Jamaican as the finished product and smoke reports Iv'e seen have been quite good. I intend this to be a sort of grow diary/journal so I can learn from my mistakes and get some good advice.

So here goes nothing.

Soil is comprised of 1/3 EWC, 1/3 Perlite, 1/3 Sphagnum Peat Moss. Dolomite lime, Espoma plant tone, kelp meal, and bone meal for amendments. Will top dress is necessary.

8/10 I started two seeds in 16oz pots in the above soil without the amendments (except for the lime) and let the rest of the mix cook. The seeds spouted in 3 days time and so began the journey.

So after a few days of light rain and lots of sunshine the first set of 3 finger leaves appeared.

A few days later and now they are both pretty uniform with NJ2 having a slightly deformed leaf.

On 8/29 both seedlings were transplanted into 2 gallon pots. On 8/31 NJ2 had a little bit of burn on the tips due to the transplant into some "hot" soil. Probably should have let it "cook" for another few weeks.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Well it is the start of week 3 now and I had a little problem with NJ2. Some of the leaves got chomped on by a caterpillar but it looks like it will recover just fine. NJ1 is looking pretty healthy overall and is showing some very consistent leaves.

No, thank you Dubi for these great genetics. I don't believe there will be any doubt that these plants will produce some great smoke. These are very vigorous growers and are getting nothing but sunshine, rainwater, and love.

I guess I will go by days of growth instead of the dates just to keep things easy. So today is day 26 from seed and both plants are looking great. NJ1 put on a few inches and continues to show very consistent leaves. NJ2 is bouncing back great from the evil little caterpillar and is sprouting new leaves everywhere. Like I said I'm extremely pleased with their vigor giving how late in the season they were planted.

I have been battling every kind of bug you can imagine in my garden this year but finally got control of my consumable products. Ants, aphids, spider mites, leaf miners, caterpillars, slugs, etc... you name 'em, I've got 'em. Diligence and a little soapy neem solution goes a long way.

Now for the plants. It's day 30 and has been raining on and off the last couple days. I've been making a concerted effort to not let my soil get too soaked so I bring them under an awning whenever possible.

Looking back on my grow logs from last year I should be seeing preflowers in another 2-3 weeks and begin flowering full time another 10 days after that.

NJ1 Day 30 Very stretchy maybe more Jamaican leaning phenotype?

NJ2 Day 30 This one is acting as if it was topped (caterpillar damage really) and is getting bushy.

Thanks for the views everyone!

I've had lots of rain the last few days but no sign of harmful bugs. :woohoo:
NJ1 showed what looks to be a preflower but it might be too early to tell for sure if it's female. What do you guys think?

NJ2 is getting bushier by the day. Both are in 2 gallon pots now but I have a few 7 gallon smart pots I can transplant them in if need be.

Day 39 of veg and I still have a small spider mite problem.
I'll be picking up some mighty wash tomorrow to rotate with my neem oil/soap spraying.
NJ1 I'm almost 100% sure is female but NJ2 has yet to show its sex.

Day 45 of veg and both plants look great.
I'm still not sure which pheno they are but will probably know better when they start flowering.
Still no signs of sex on NJ2 but hoping for another female.
