we still have one here in town that has a "full service" island. them ol' boys will check your oil, washer fluid, everything. but it is the only one left that I am aware of. been going there for over thirty years myself...

I often mention here "that if the dry sifted hash is really pure, then all I need is about the size of two match heads worth to get me high "...now I wonder how many icmag readers under 35 years old would actually know what a match head is or how big it is now that Bic is king and has been for a long time...lol

I used to light two bong hits with the one match (in Australia there was just about only one brand : "Redhead" matches), take a hit, exhale the smoke but keep the match lit, repack the bong one handed, place it down on the table, lick my thumb and forefinger on my other hand hold the match by the burnt end with the unburnt end facing up so it flamed up and didn't go out then quickly holding it horizontal so it didn't burn out too fast and if you were good at it there was enough wood on the other end to light the other bowl......when I changed hands you would always hear the "hisss" as the wet fingers grabbed the black end....it was a matter of timing or it went out or you burned yourself!
In Australia when I was a kid a common way to buy grass was by the "matchbox"...an empty matchbox packed with grass. It was sort of stealthy too carrying around a "Matchbox or two too. The problem was if you happen to open the matchbox the wrong way (as in upside-down), the grass spilled out on your feet..oh, man, I did that plenty of times!

we used to pack some green light matches[ water proof] in our boats in case of being stranded, fuk'n things when lit would flare of like rockets in any bloody direction lol.

HEY, Tropicannayeah, when was that (68,69, 70) In New Orleans, we had RedTop matches in a wooden and paper box, $3 to $5 a box usually stems and a few fan leaves, but sometimes some good stuff. I was in an old house a year or two ago and found a box with matches. I keep it on my desk. I found good smoke in Caine, on your north coast, 3 years ago too expensive but smelled good, smoked mellow. Smoked on three continents, may get two more in 16, catching up to my old Vietnam Vet buddies who did that 50 years ago, hats off guys. By the way I always spit on my fingers to hold the match.

I remember getting excited over the colbri touch lighters with the butterfly landing on them to light them. I still recall they were just over fifty bucks, which was a chunk of change at the time.

We used to get Rohrer's and Lemmon's '80-'84. Was under the impression the Rohrer's were stronger. Hard to beat for sure. A friends dad was an m.d. and brought a lot of his "work'" home. Had a few drawers full of samples and filled scripts. And when these scripts got stolen by his kids he just kept refilling them, guess he either thought he did that much or didn't think it was an issue. The housekeeper took them too, but the doctor was banging her. whole family ended up in prison, one way or another, through insurance fraud, burglary, or meth manufacturing.

I remember the first time I got high like it was yesterday......there was 5 of us laying on our backs on a cricket field with our heads close together like spokes on a wagon wheel passing a joint watching the clouds change forms then getting up and playing cricket without a bat or ball and that morphed in to rugby in slow motion, hysterically laughing the whole time then we laid down again talking about how fantastic grass was...I still vividly remember getting high for the first time over forty years ago.
