Motherlode Gardens 2014

Well if you don't mind paying like 80% taxes I'm sure they could provide enough police to cover every garden.

if they paid cops the same amount as teachers, instead of 2x more, then couldn't they hire twice as many cops

The cops have a more demanding job, IMO. You're comparing apples to oranges, or more precisely, cops to teachers.

I'm sure the top ranked professors aren't complaining about making less than cops.

professor is not a teacher, i'm talking public school

teachers need a college degree, any idiot can be a cop. That alone makes teaching more difficult.

Do you really think being a teacher isn't as demanding as being a cop? Maybe it's not anymore, and that's the problem. Teachers should be working harder , and making more money than the cops, not vice versa. But teachers aren't even allowed to teach, just coach kids to get high test scores, so no wonder you don't want to pay them much.

that's why we have so many homegrown criminals but are importing people to fill tech jobs and hospital staffs

and only work 9 months out of the year?

Truth be told, teachers get paid just fine. The problem once again with this is government control over the teachers. Ever heard of common core? FYI, my wife is in the education field.

Shcrews, are you a laid off teacher? :chin:

I'm just saying, if you don't like your pay, do something about it besides just complain, i.e., get better education/more experience and become a professor. Or find a new line of work, if money is more important.

If the money was such a big deal you should have done some career research and looked into it first before spending time to become a teacher only to complain that the pay sucks.

Everyone always loves to play victim but in reality it's their own doing. It's your life, live it, and be responsible/accountable for it.

wouldn't call myself pro-gun, but I've bought dogfood, clothes stuff like that for people before. There are a lot more people without housing in the last 10 years it seems. Was homefree for about four years but I had an old car so it's not really the same thing cause with the car you have a place to sleep.

i probably shouldn't have brought up teachers, apparently funding for education is a controversial issue, not sure why. If we weren't blowing trillions of dollars on other bullshit then it wouldn't bother me.

My original point is that no matter how much money the fucking police get they still can't/won't protect most people in most situations.

it all ties together though. shitty education system = dumb society = more rippers.

i've never had a job. i'm not a teacher. I just think a lot about how things are. funny that people see it as normal that cops make 2x a teacher's salary, regardless of the actual amount that seems fundamentally wrong to me given the importance of both jobs.

Funding programs like common core is controversial these days for sure. Problem isn't funding. That is what people in government want you to think. Any problem government encounters they say the answer is more funding. This last year the US collected more money in taxes than any nation, including our own, in the history of the world. The answer is still more money please.

The people that made these problems are the ones trying to fix them. We need a new line of leaders that think outside the box. Rep, Dem, I don't care, just something new please.

Also, think about cops vs teachers....

Teacher get to come to work the same time everyday.

Cops have night shifts, emergency overtime, hazard pay.

I could go on, but really it's not hard to figure out.

Why do you think protecting the public is so much less important than teaching the public? Both are very important to me.

cops are patrolling in $40,000 dodge chargers and making 70k/year , they are spending billions on the new stealth bomber ...but my highschool was mostly in trailers. 40 kids per teacher. there is definitely a problem

Support education! :thank you:

Not if the the school needs to move to a new location (say, cheaper land in an industrial area, due to fund cutting.) Then that'd be easy to do... just hook up some big-rigs, slap on some "OVERSIZE LOAD" stickers, and send the kids home with a letter explaining address change. Easy! Talk about saving tax dollars... I should be mayor.

cops don't protect the public they are crooked piece of shit pigs who love to scare and hurt people and take whatever they want, they also love the drug war because it means lots of money and they get to search and harrass more people..

teachers teach kids. they protect the public by shaping and molding the future. a good teacher is far more beneficial than a "good" cop.

at least that is my experience.

I'm sure they didn't pay that much, with bulk/gov't discount and all.

Plus, you don't want your local deputies riding around town representing with some cheap clown car like this, do you?

Thanks for the fun conversation you guys. The wife and I are taking the daughter in the pool, it's freaking hot here today. Not before a nice hit of Cherry Pie BHO that is just amazing. Take care and stay safe.

I agree, $15k ought to be enough for teachers.
