OSRAM horticultural LEDs

I have seen those in the past.

What I want to see is horticultural specific COBs by a major optoelectronics firm.

COB = Chip on Board. It is a LED that is comprised of many individual chips on the same substrate.

We will be posting some efficiency comparison videos on Osram LEDs in the next few days here on ICMag. I suggest waiting to see the video before getting excited about Osram horticultural LEDs.

Google Cree cxa 3070. Right now these are the best of the best. Down side is you have to assemble the units yourself.

I finished a my last grow thread using a BML SPYDR 600 which uses 3w Osrams

Reveged one of the plants under it which is amazing.

I'm finishing my first grow with white COB LEDs Cree CXA2530.

I selected this model because it provided power dissipation (37V @ 1.6A max) which fits nicely in the MakersLED architecture I chose, which can push 48V @ 1.0A. This means that I will never get to run them higher than like 68% of their max capability, and still have 370W of actual power coursing through the COB chips, that I can Dim from 0% to 100%. I chose the MakersLED system because the final product would look just like it came out of an assembly line

My thread on building this light is somewhere around here

I'd say it depends a lot on binning and how hard you're planning to drive them.. 2530, 3050 and other smaller cobs can be very good, if not better options. The availability of highly binned 3070 wasn't huge the last time I checked. For my small cabinet, several low-drivven 2530's U2E05 was the best I could find when looking at optimal performance for a decent price.. That was 10 weeks ago so much may have changed..

Funny thing is these prices seems to be constantly changing.CXA2530-0000-000N00U240H Costed 22$ at mouser when i bought them, now they charge 39$!!! That isn't to far away from the price 3070 Z4 which is slightly more efficient at 700 mA but less efficient at 300 mA..

Coco:
I think I am able to dim my 2530s down to 0% because the controller does its thing by PWM.

So i think that at 1% my leds are actually seeing 1Amp, but just for 1% of the time

I see. :) At what frequency Hz? I wonder if this makes the plants utilize the light better or worse? Or maybe its so fast, the led never actually flicker..

I actually bought them from digikey, where they now cost 22,80!

Osram Zelion HL LED Horticultural Fixture

Osram Zelion HL LED Horticultural Fixture

Osram has just released a brand new LED Grow Light. We are currently the sole distributor for this line of lights. It is the Zelion HL and is a dual spectrum, passively cooled energy efficient (25-150W) putting out PAR reading in excess of 1100 mmol/m2s.

This panel has been designed and engineered by Osram for the optimal PAR values at the lowest wattage utilizing only Oslon top bin LEDs. Please feel free to send me a message and I would be happy to send you more information. The product bulletin (.pdf) is too large to upload to IC.

Thank you in advance.
