When the cops came, were they aware of any guns on the property? In particular, the Bushmaster (which I'm assuming is CA-legal).

This is just not true. Under the law maybe, but I have talked to many cops that don't enforce that law. Did you know it's law to pull over and let others pass if 3 or more cars are behind you? Cops get to pick and choose which laws they want to enforce, and when I was robbed I invited the cops in my backyard and told them I will be up with my shotgun for the rest of the season. They recommenced what rounds I should use to limit bullets going through walls.
Yes, I would attempt to protect myself and my belongings through lethal force if necessary. Would you let some criminal come in your house and rape your women and kids? i think planning to shoot ganja thieves is very shortsighted, will probably result in prison, definitely bad karma. anyway I've never even come close to having that problem. Have been in a shootout though, and been held up at gunpoint by a friend, so you really never know...

I've always heard no guns with mmj, so it seemed worth it to ask an attorney with experience in that field. Collections of guns are a bad idea but one or two are supposed be okay to be in possession of. It's really up to the individual, sure with some cops it will be another charge, but it shouldn't amount to anything if the grow and the gun are legal. This same lawyer also advised that you don't have to choose between 6 mature plants OR 12 immature, you can have both. As far as actually shooting a ripper, for me it would depend on how close they were. If they were in the yard probably wouldn't shoot to kill, trying to get in the house, a much better chance. Last thing I want to do is kill someone over property, but when their entering your house you don't know what they are capable of.
