I believe it is called shock flushing where right before harvest you put the plant through a brief dark period. The majority of people says this increases the bag appeal by making them look like they have more trichs. I know this wont increase potency, but a lot of people are saying this helps improve the aroma and flavor of the smoke. Is that true? I care more about the flavor and aroma, than I do bag appeal since my gavitas have been producing far frostier plants than my previous lights. That and I just invested $274 on a drying tent in an effort to get better aroma, flavor, and overall finished product.
The other question I have is container size. I start my plants in rockwool cubes, then they go into 1 gallon smart pots, and finally into 5 gallon smart pots. I know a bigger container allows for bigger plants, more shoots, etc., but does it directly affect yield, or just indirectly by having less shots/smaller plant?
Lately, I've been vegging my plants for 2 months. Maybe its just the poor genetics I started off with but these big plants aren't exactly producing anything special. I'm only hitting 3-4 oz of these big ladies. I should probably thin the fan leaves out more so light can hit the lower bud sites, and I'm learning training techniques to make my yields more optimal. I had a small autoflower white widow plant that pumped out 3 zips. The lower branches fully developed too, the plant was probably only a foot and a half, 2 feet max. That is my new short term goal. I want to maximize my resources by reaching full development on all branches, not lollipopping, and all that.
I have a lemon kush plant I want to move into flower soon since its the perfect size right now IMO. About a foot, foot and a half, sitting in a 1 gallon smart pot. Would it be a bad idea to flower it in that 1 gallon pot? Is it worth seeing what happens?
