My friend Annie will die soon...

RIP Anne Woron
August 29, 1938 - August 31, 2014, 9:15PM ; She turned 86 Friday the 29th and didn't think she could eat any birthday cake, I gave her a little milkshake from her favorite place.
On Friday and Saturday she kept seeing her husband in the window or outside her doorway. In the morning she kept telling him, " I am coming Walter but, I can't get up..I am stuck." She asked her room-mate, "can't you see him." despite her weakness, somehow she managed to try to follow him into the next patients room on Saturday. She was married to Walter 57 years when he passed away two years ago.
Anne knew dying was part of living and her journey was with dignity, grace and love. She passed peacefully, as I held her hand. It is doubtful she would have wanted more except, to be home for her last few days. Regardless, I had someone sit with her all day every day, since Thursday and play her favorite opera and classical music.
The first time I walked in her room with the music playing, Friday; After greeting Annie I stood at the foot of her bed and gazed at her, asleep without pain, finally. then I stood at the foot of her bed wondering why, she appeared to be at peace and realized; as a very young child, Annie's father would have her sit in his lap and they listened to opera music every day together and throughout her early years. She and her husband listened to opera, every day, as well. That was the 'peace' I could see in her face.
Yesterday at 9:15 PM her journey ended peacefully, as I sat and held her hand. Even in death, she did it as gracefully as anyone could. She simply took her last breathe and that was it. I had been holding her hand forever, it seemed, I could feel her thready tacchycardia from her wrist pound rapidly against my hand and then it just stopped and her breathing did, also. She was at peace and I know she wouldn't have wanted to go any other way, nor would I have wanted it to have been any different. She made it to 86 and her hearing was as sharp as her mind.
I'll see Annie again, one day. jpt
As she passed on, I was wishing we had Euthanasia as, I was beginning to fear she'd choke to death or something sad and then she took her last breathe. As she simply passed on in peace. She was looking forward to seeing her husband and parents again...and now, she is with them.
I checked out of my motel about 1AM and came on home. jpt

You did VERY VERY good justpassnthru.
You are a good person to care for Annie, she sounded like a lovely lady. Sorry to read of her passing, like you said she's with her loved ones. Thanks for sharing and hope your memories of her bring a smile to your face, I recently lost a good friend and it still hurts to know I will never see him again.

Reading page 1 this watered the eyes as it reminded me of my mum .
Annie`s life on this earth has ended but it`s still going strong in the heart & minds of those that love her . Bless you for your compassion & help to a dear friend , Karma will come your way as it`s richly deserved .

Just one example of what a wonderful person Annie was: her room-mate at the facility watched TV in Spanish, Anne did not know one word of Spanish. I called and requested a room change for her, they were waiting for a perfect room with a view out the window, as she had. All she had to do was raise her head and look beyond her feet and there was the outside world and birdies feeding on a feeder. She loved watching nature. Eventually, it was that same window she saw her husband's presence.
2 days later, I removed the request to have her moved elsewhere; I could clearly see Annie didn't mind watching TV in Spanish and her room-mate seemed to 'look out' for Anne and Anne did the same with her room-mate.
About a week later I asked Anne if she minded watching TV in Spanish, she answered, "The men are exceptionally good looking and the women aren't so bad." as she laughed.
No matter what the situation Annie found something to be happy about and I'll carry that with me, the remainder of my life.

Scruffy says thanks, she needed an extra one! I wish I knew how to post a picture from my cell phone; I took a neat picture of Annie and little Patchez- trying to be gentle and present.
jptNow it's time for you to heal. Take with you the positive things you learned from this experience, and try to forget the saddness. I believe in life after death, and it sounds like Annie is headed to the pearly gates. Celebrate her life, and always take a piece of her where ever you go. Life is precious, live it to the fullest.
