My little bro

Keeping a watchful eye on my plants, finding unwanted guests happens. Every now and again, the guest is welcome. The last three days visiting my veg room, I've befriended a little jumping spider. He'd greet me at the door each day. Tonight, he wasn't at the door. I went about my business inspecting my new seedlings recovery from fungus gnat larvae. Here's my little buddy keeping watch over my little Satori plant. I've named him little bro. :D

Taking macro's with my camera is hit or miss. (at least when I use it ;) ) This shot will have to do.

LOL it very well could be, and I did wonder that during the naming process.
I was curious enough to look into it after the naming process, when it was too late. ;)
Apparently the females are slightly larger than males. At least I didn't name it Sue. Then, what
if it's a dude? I'd have to play a Johnny Cash tune and hope he understands.

Hopefully soon, my ladybug friends return to over winter. They are most welcome!

Zebra jumping spider.

Here's mine, and a couple others... :rasta:

Edit: to sex a spider, look at the palpi, the 2 little "arms" on the very front. Not the 8 legs. in the top pic, you can see 8 legs and 2 palpi right below the eyes. That top spider is a female, as the palpi are slender.

2nd pic from bottom: See palpi have what looks like "boxing gloves" on the ends? This is a male, those "boxing gloves" contain the sperm delivering apparatus.

Peace

I always leave spiders be, too. It makes me feel bad when I'm sweeping and I see one scuttle across the floor dodging broom strokes as I just came along and dropped chaos on his world.

:yeahthats

I like to think of it the way Gandalf put it to Frodo Baggins.....

"Many who live deserve death, and some that die deserve life - can you give it to them? Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement."

:D

BTW, Little Bro is still hangin' out in the same place. Even when a mother plant way too big for it's beer cup fell on top of his host Satori.

Little bro has traveled to the other side. I kind of suspected that he wasn't feeling well. Perhaps he starved or the GH nutes upset his stomach. Poor little dude, he was probably tripping balls the last few days of his life. :D

The ladybugs are starting to come home! :dance013:
