Seeds

Seeds

I´ve got still originals from Costa Rica.
As it is my first time growing chillies, I didn´t know how they would do but as seen, are doing fine.
I had this ones as back up on the fridge but I think I´m going to be able to keep my own seed for next year and see how they evolve.
If you or anyone else wants some.....let me know; I´ve got the ones on the pic like 30-40.
Last year they germinated 100%, and have beeen in the fridge with sillica gel.

Went to the local hydro store the other day, and got a free ghost pepper that they grew...Maybe I'll try and save the seeds, and grow some....

Was thinking I might put this in some homefries perhaps...When I make homefries I make 3 servings at a time....Any guesses how much of this pepper I should use ? don't want it to be too scorching hot....Maybe I ought to cut a tiny piece off the ghost pepper and try it ? See what the heat level is that way ?

Welcome to the world of -not.

That's a not-Bhut.

I'm growing not-Morougas.

Maybe the result of open pollination?

Mikell...I guess I'm not catching your drift ? The guy told me he paid a pretty penny for the seeds to grow that ghost pepper, but you say it's not a ghost pepper ?

Well I just taste tested that pepper I got...I ate a piece about half the size of a tic tac...I think I have a decent heat tolerance....Anyways, I started getting tears in my eyes (that never happens to me), and I had to eat some bread and sip on some half and half (we were out of milk)...

Maybe there are hotter ghost peppers but this pepper suites my heat palette fine...I's going to be a while for I can actually "eat" this hot of a pepper...I am making some homefries in a little bit, and I am going to put just a small piece of this pepper in it.

The source is important. PepperJoe, Ebay and a few others sell overpriced seeds that rarely grow true. Flip through Google images for awhile.

You can raise your tolerance much like with THC, but it dissipate within a few days. Habanero breaks you into ghosts, ghosts break your hymen for Butch T, etc.

HAH! I have never seen that, but it looks intriguing.

I did try pure capsaicin extract once, maybe a 1/4 tsp. Took about 10 minutes to start singing to the porcelain throne. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a glutton for punishment, there is no flavour and all pain. Your saliva turns to fire.

Window lickers XD Nice.

Two resources handy for a new grower:

Flower drop probable causes:

1. Day temp too high >95F
2. Night temp too low <65F
3. Too much nitrogen fertilizer
4. Too much water
5. Low light levels (reduces fertility).
6. Very low humidity (reduces fertility)
7. Poor air circulation (air circulation contributes to pollination).
8. Lack of pollinating insects.
9. Size of pot
10. Too much mineral in feedwater.
11. Too much grower attention/anxiety.
12. PNW Climate

I ate some hot wings from a local eatery one time that had their signature hot sauce on them. one bite and I was teared up and my face was on fire for a good 3 hours, and had snot dripping from my chin within 10 seconds.

I took those wings home and washed them off and could still barely eat them. the sauce had a nice smokey flavor though.

it was mad with a mix of ghost, scorpion, and habanero peppers.

the grower has seeds that he has been growing and saving seeds for some time. he always kept his pepper plants separated with at least 100 yds so the chance of open pollination were reduced. he gave me some seeds, they were mixed but consisted of scorpion and ghost peppers.

i have one plant growing now, but it seems to be growing very slow, although it seems health and lush it has lumpy leaves with millions of little noduals on the undersides of the leaves. is this a disease or simply a genetic trait?

I wish I had a camera. how fast is a pepper plant supposed to grow from seed?

I also wish I would have bought that 10 dollar digi cam from the dollar store a while back. it was 6 mp but had no zoom and came with a 1 gig sd card. they tel me that that camera has been discontinued

Nice link ^

My Jalapeno got all stress in a 7-gallon
and the hot days here in AZ over 95*

Transplanted it and was shock to see such a tiny rootball-root mass in a seven gallon. I knew it was to hot in that thing, but its in the ground now, will post a new picture, making lots of flowers and baby peppers ( ) last harvest

Hah, don't you love black pots? Solar energy collectors....

Pictures are worth their weight in gold, but here's some randomish thinking with stolen pics :D

The "lumpy leaves" are probably calcium deficiency (a bubbled texture to the leaves)

pep-leaf-poor.jpg

or over fertilization (bubbled texture/distorted new growth and prominent, twisted veins)

The nodules may be oedema, if it resembles salt or sugar crystals, from overwatering.
