Does Chocolope really Taste & Smell like Chocolate ?

"What makes these Cannabis Seeds so special is that when you enjoy her you taste that chocolate you've been missing from the 80's! The DNA Genetics Chocolope is the "ONE"! Not much haze, but you don't need it."

That sounds very good.

But I am a little dubious. Respectfully dubious :tiphat: but dubious nonetheless.

Chocolate ?

The only time I've smelled chocolate around Cannabis was if I was baking chocolate chip cookies or something.

Or, right now I'm eating 'Extreme Moose Tracks' ice cream. It has chocolate fudge, chocolate chocolate, chocolate truffles, all swimming in chocolate ice cream.

And when I've had enough ice cream, I will have a puff of something, and since my mouth is coated with chocolate, that smoke will probably taste chocolate-y.

So, can I really get a chocolate bud to go with chocolate ice cream ?

Actually, that might upset the balance of Nature :ying: too much chocolate in one place.

For those that may have ordered Chocolope - does the chocolate come through in every seed ? Just curious how the phenotypes run.

Grow Report
Grew like just like you would expect a haze/thai cross would grow, long and lanky.
Very fussy with nutrients... Took me a while until I was able to get her to a spot where she didn't show any signs of nutrient deficiency or toxicity. Definitely not a good strain for beginners.
Flowered for 76 days before I got 10% clear, 80% cloudy, and 10% amber trichs
If you are prepared for the amount of stretch, this strain can do very well in a SCROG grow
Buds were above average in size with an average density
Final yield was 55g which was the lowest yield out of the 4 strains I grew under a 600 this last grow. Could have done better if I was more prepared for how fussy this strain would be with nutrients and how much this strain would stretch and continue to stretch.
FFOF soil was a little too rich, even with added perlite. Started seeing minor toxicity as of week 2 of veg and this continued until week 3 of flowering without adding any nutes.
Smoke Report
Visual appeal: 6/10... Average density with TONS of orange pistils covering the bud, low level of visual trichomes. Bud foxtailed just like you would expect a haze to do.
Smell: 6/10... Nothing too special. Slightly sweet with a hint of citrus and earthiness to it.
Taste: 8/10... Sweet dark licorice taste.
High: 8/10... Very energetic/uplifting sativa type high that is great for a daytime smoke sesh.

Tho I'm interested in growing some out, I see the choco flavor as a annoying distraction, IMHO...2 tokes and why should you care what the flavor is...?
same as 3d tv, and those who prefer linux over M$ ...horses for courses ...lol

I've had the licorice taste. I LOVE the Licorice taste.

Yes a fake chocolate smell or a chemically chocolate taste/smell ... does not sound good.

Still I can't help but be curious.

Im smoking on a batch of concentrate that tastes exactly like a chocolate menthol/mint candy. definitely can taste the chocolate. without a doubt it is possible to get chocolate tastes out of cannabis.

I have a chocolope that is called Hersey kisses. Small triangle shaped buds smell like pure chocolate if it goes too long it starts to get a little more cherry fruity but at 70days its pure choclate . It is my hardest strain to grow but it is by far my best strain no yield but people beg for it.

Chocolope is an awesome strain but I don't get really any chocolate from mine. Real dank pungent melons is what I get all day from chocolope. Superb strain I'd recommend to just about anyone, but not chocolate... at least not the phenos I got.

I have heard that Chocolate Rain, which is chocolope x cocoa kush, bred by eskobar, does have some chocolate phenos and is a phenominal strain. Have not heard much of anything but positive reviews from those who have grown it. You may want to look there.

Or something like a bubba kush which can have some mocha-ish type notes to it.

Mr Sparky what batch of Chocolope did you get your pheno from? Mine was from like 3 or 4 years ago. I heard the more recent batch was a little different.

Go with bubba kush for a nice mocha chocolate taste. If you can find redeyed genetics anywheres wherever he sells his seeds sometimes on seedbay I grew out his kobain kush (pre98 bubba kush x white lotus) and found a dank mocha chocolate pheno that finished in the 55 day range.

Dna genetic I had few other keepers but this plant is by far the most unique.
I ordered the seeds February 2013 I popped 30 seeds to find this plant.

I have another pheno that was gifted to me by an icmag grower that is just fruity for me but he gets a more dank/choclate smell? I am going to grow this pheno out and chop a couple buds off every week to see if it is possibly just a flavor that appears when you chop at the right time.

in a word, no. it doesnt taste like chocolate. i think they used a chocolate thai and a canalope haze. the pheno i had was super fruity tasting. i think the name comes from the 2 strains, not after the smell/taste.

The cannalope haze pheno I found out produced in every way the thai dom phenos. Smell, weight, trich coverage, overall structure. It was night and day. The smell is amazing.
Found chocolate in cuts of Deep Chunk and Afghan hash plant.

Yeah melon, pinneapple or even some mango but no chocolate. I guess something you could definitely expect from a C99 cross!

I can get also some bitter cocoa smell in some Deep Chunk, leather, musky, etc. But not sweet chocolate at all!

found most chocolate tasting gear even the old choco thai to be mostly drier, earthier, cocoa smelling n tasting but have seen a sweeter richer more rounded milk chocolate smell n taste but it wasn't in anything made to be or named chocolate anything.
The smell n taste are definetly possible I just never seen it done that great in any "chocolate" strain yet myself.
Would personally go with the choco rain myself as was already mentioned.
Found better flavours in it, n was better growth, and high ime.

cheers, n good luck with the hunt,...............................gps

Spot on my boys pheno of the lope has a tiny coacoa bite on the inhale but barely noticeable behind the overpowering cannalope melon smoothness

(Haze brothers haze x Michoacan) x chocolate Thai, no Cindy it's meant to be a c99 knock off
