well you did say that you hand mixed all that soil so it very well could be just that. if it was a pest, I would think that by now, it would of spread to another plant as the populations rose. if you do have any more encounters, they will pick her off first and since you're keeping an eye on her, she may just be your canary in the coal mine.

pure craziness. I'm worried that might encourage our ants... or mold.

but hey, if it works!

I prefer to use turbinado or raw sugar instead of molasses if mixing directly with the soil, much easier. Props on using the actinovate on these, one of the most overlooked preventative mold/mildew/rot. You using plastic to cover those rows, or ffgh blackout fabric? Anyways those hybrids look nice, I'm a big fan of the Africans so ya know. Peace.

It's panda plastic - 24' wide rolls.
We've sprayed actinovate twice thoughout their entire lives, and not a sign of mold yet. I'll probable hit them once more, before they really dense up. It gets humid in those hoops covered!

I love these hyrbids, the africans crosses are nice!

They look like there at the stage they could use a little Nitro boost to help those flowers bulk up. Id use liquid fish emulsion. It will be more available to uptake then the guano. Id use a tea of fish emulsion, rock phosphate, cold processed liquid kelp, and molasses at this point. Ants actually don't like dry molasses, it will help keep them away, its regularly used as an organic deterrent.

You ever thought about using the blackout fabric, helps a lot with humidity when they are covered, being breathable and all. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you uncover them when the sun goes down, but sometimes it does.

We looked into it, but it was over 4x the cost. The only way i could really see it being an issue after the sun sets is if theres some other bright light introduced. absent spotlights, how do you figure?

Yeah I only meant it matters regarding humidity. Not light. You had mentioned how humid it gets when covered. I know in some of the areas I have lived in that few hours of 100% humidity is all it took for an outbreak. Lived in a few places considered torrential rainforests myself, so I know how the pnw can be.

Oh i got ya! yea it does get humid in there quick. We try to mitigate this with the fans circulating air, keeping them covered as little as possible, watering first thing in the a.m., actinovate and constantly crossed fingers. hopefully we make it through alright!

Long runs of large diameter ducting on both ends works ok as well. Just put them at each end, wrap the plastic firmly around them and kinda serpentine the duct to keep light out. Trick I learned in the PNW matter of fact. ha

so how's that sad Blue Orca doing? also, how do you find the time to do all this stuff, do your indoor garden, and still be able to enjoy summer? I hope this works out for you and your ideal yield. saw the thread on the bags. I super feel for ya. if you paid with a credit card, you can contact them to have the charges reversed possibly. Mine did when I went to the dentist and he chipped a tooth pulling out my wisdom teeth. I went back to him to see if he could fix it and he got really upset and told me it was like that in the first place and he doesn't make mistakes. got all my money back from Chase Bank.

I guess I'm single-minded, dedicated, and seriously invested in the success of what I put my energy towards. It helps to have someone to help me with each project, to make sure things happen as they should in my absense. I don't have much of a social life outside of the farming I do and the people I do it with, I got trust issues... but this is what I love doing so I enjoy my summer by working and watching the grass grow. Sometimes its really stressful and not enjoyable at all, but what thing isn't that can cause so much joy and fulfillment?

as for the one fucked blue orca, it seems like the chlorosis has stopped ascending, the top 10" look healthy and green, but the flower production on that individual doesn't come close to the other orcas. It is sticky and throwing out trichs, we may get a few decent top buds but i think its mainly going to be processed into some sort of value-added product. The NBMRs bouced back so well

as for them bags... I actually got called back today by someone from the hash bag company and he's supposed to get back to me within 24 hours. I'll keep ya posted, thanks!

I'm workin on uploading some more pictures now.

it's always good to have a close group of friends; especially that grow so you can talk to them in person. I've always liked talking to people in person rather than online, email, texting, whatever. None of my friends grow except my aunt and she is not one to go and get advice from. The few that I still keep in regular contact are more concerned with starting a family and getting married (or divorced) and with that come family obligations and they don't have time to hang out with the single childless woman so we've just drifted apart. after a certain age, it's hard to make friends since there is so much obligation.
thought I would make some when I went back to college but it seems that my age bracket is too old for after high school college kids and too young for back to school re-education or career change diplomas. everyone was too young and in their super early 20's looking to get me to buy them beer or they were 15 years my senior.
