Testing isn't really available around here....

My 1st go round wasn't perfect...but still much better than my normal harvests. Works well for me bcus I'm never in a rush for it to dry and be moved out the door. Also works well bcus I usually keep bud for a long time. After the dry period, I vacuum seal em and refreeze em. I'll defrost a qp at a time and put em in mason jars. Comes out damn near perfect. Odor, color, and texture are all there.
Just going to tweak the dry time a lil bit next go round.

Works great for me, but I'm doing alot less than you are.

I think it may be time to crank the Gavitas up a notch and see how it goes. Especially the outer edge lights since the outside doesnt have the overlap it could certainly benefit...

Thanks Rik, Still a ways to go... Ill wait to start celebrating just yet...

Love the gavitas and the beds FE! You think beds could be done without having to rotate them, maybe by leaving N out and fertigating it? I just don't have room to keep two sets of beds.

sure the beds could run perpetual, I just think for what Im trying to do it would be best to let a set fallow while you run one thats amended and ready. It can certainly work with one set of beds. I just like the down time for the beds to rest.

Thanks for the good vibes, fingers crossed all things go well. The plants are experiencing insect pressure. All around in adjacent gardens there are sap sucking insects, PM & fungal infections. I found a plant that had some damage from thrips and spider mites. This plant was not getting adequate water from the drip lines. Ill go into detail here in a bit. Pics, data and theories coming up. I will say the insects are not spreading and are localized to one plant and only on the growth that occurred prior to planting in the beds. Amazing to me since the plants are growing so closely... this has been a good learning experience although I have to say the perfect run was fumbled long ago. Maybe next time.. For now Ill see what can still come of the current situation.. and if I can keep these pests at bay or eradicate them all together...

Seems like a rough time all around this year for pests. Good luck man I am sure things will be fine in the end. There is no perfect run. Spinosad to the rescue!

No pesticides needed. The aea foliar with leaf surface microbes are keeping the plants healthy enough to keep them from spreading. A quick microscope assessment of leaf populations before and after show mites dying off on a large scale and eggs shriveling and browning as well. some of the mites look as though they died in their sleep or something. Ive got some microscope shots to share just havent gotten them up yet. The mites are still only on one plant. and have not moved to any of the large leaves on that plant. I bet if I slack on my foliar feeding they take off and spread, Im not going to mess with that ... lol

MJ I do not like to top at all. I was forced to top the GG4's they were so huge. Seems like they only grew faster after that. One of the 4 GG's stopped growing after I topped it. It is flowering just like its big sisters only shes about half the size of them. I took the top 3 nodes maybe that was too much for her..? Still a monster plant that grows like crazy. from the way it grows in veg Id mono crop it...

That may work for broad mites but IME high heat only makes them proliferate especially if its dry... Ive got old fashioned mites.. two spots ...Like I said before they arent moving around. These are not young colonies either. I know because the old set of leaves they were on were heavily populated and even webbed the edges of the leaves. Normally when you see this they are prolific everywhere. Seems like they cannot go anywhere. Ive never seen anything like it before....

Your garden looks great btw!

fwiw I have seen it kill spider mites also fungus gnats, every time I have done it humidity spiked because I turn off my ac and ventilation. Plants seem to really like it, I have fried a few plants from being close to a bulb during a heat treatment. Im pretty sure spider mites start to die off past 105f. I get my rooms up to 115 120.. Your canopy is so thick and healthy, it might be hard to get all the nooks and crannies up to temp. a laser thermometer is a must. I know your on top of your game, I just was sharing for any one reading along.

What about some predatory mites as preventative ipm for the surrounding plants? Koppert has some good ones.

well if you need to get something a little stronger, the Nuke Em works great for spidermites but just don't use a strong application; normal is just fine. I just FRIED mine using the strong strength application 3 times a night for broad mites. it was soooo sad but I used it because it worked great on my spidermites. OMRI and can be used a week after harvest. it can probably me homemade with citric acid and brewers yeast. Thanks for your comment today and advice! I think I will add some worms again. do I have to feed them compost? that brought in flyers and started my infestation.

predators wont work in flowering. They begin to go dormant with the 12/12 photoperiod as do the target spider mites. Interesting about dying off @105.. I had a room just a few days ago get up to 123f I discovered the problem at 3am and the lights had been on in the heat of the day so it had to be much hotter earlier. Luckily I watered heavily the night before. The largest plants with the largest pots were looking stellar. I think I lost 3 plants all together. That room definitely had/ has some two spotted mites. Ill do a scope exam and see if I can find any. If your statement is true then I shouldnt be able to find any crawlers since the temps were likely that high for at least 6 hours.. more like 10-12.
Honestly its either my brix levels killing the mites or the actual foliar spray mixture Im using. All I know is that last I checked I couldnt find any living only groups of dead ones and shriveled eggs...

Thanks.

I assume my worms feed off the amendments I add and the compost. When I transplanted into these beds I saw worms in every hole I dug. They certainly have multiplied since I added them...

Aea has a specific spider mite remedy with minerals only. If I ever get to my computer I will post it. As I recall sea stim, micro 5000 and pepzyme. Just about making long carbon chains in the plant that the insects cannot digest. Sounds like you are there on new growth already
